Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner (2 Viewers)

Anyone know if the players can use Adderall with a prescription? It seems like an easy drug to get script for, based on my personal experience. I take it legitimately and have my entire adulthood. If I remember correctly, I pretty much just had to tell me doctor my symptoms. While I was honest, it would have been easy for me to lie. As far as it being an advantage, I don't see it. I practice Muay Thai and hate when I can still feel the effects of Adderall. I feel too "zoned in" and sports are fluid activities. I don't know how better to explain it than that, but I personally don't feel like it would be an advantage for me. The ability to think and move freely and with fluidity would seem like a plus to me.
theres a reason they had to ban amphetamines. everyone was using em. If i made you do Muy tai 8 hours a day and proceded to beat you, and injure you i'm pretty sure you'd be willing to have a few jitters to keep yourself away for 4 hours of tape study.

:lmao: adderal tastes NASTY and strong. plus most ive seen are colored. Is richard sherman in the habit of drinking others nasty/discolored water, in sufficient enough of a dosage that it trigger the test? wat a load of ####.
yes, I used to get the 30MG from lying which were orange. We used to crush them up and snort them at times for the immediate impact. 10MG are blue. Now they have the time release but you're right.. you would taste it easily. For this fool to use that excuse is crazy.. I wonder what other drugs he tested positive for :lmao:

If tape study is part of their job, and they have a hard time retaining information, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to take Adderall. I don't know what doses they are taking, but 15mg wears off for me in about 6 hours. They could take it to study film, and not on game day.

Or, possibly that portion of the story is completely made up and already been denied by Sherman. But that wouldn't be as entertaining, would it?

In a series of texts to Curtis Crabtree, a reporter for Sports Radio KJR in Seattle, Sherman denied ever ingesting any banned substances. Crabtree tweeted Sherman told him the accidental-ingestion scenario is "totally false" and added, "It will be resolved in time and I have never taken anything."

Sherman has said that the "ingested via a teammates water bottle" is a false story. He told someone in local media via text it was false.

It doesn't matter if it was an accident. According to the NFL, each player is responsible for his body and what is ingested.

Again, Sherman has said the "ingested" story was not true.

I was responding to Hooper having people read the link, I did.

It doesn't matter if it was an accident.
Where are you getting this "accident" story from?
In the link you said people weren't reading "The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because neither Sherman nor his agent have discussed the details of the case publicly, said Sherman says he accidentally drank from a bottle into which a teammate poured a crushed Adderall pill."

Occam's Razor version: They likely did it, which really pisses me off and is quite stupid. I have no idea how athletes today aren't fully aware of what they put in their body if it has the potential to cost so much to their pocketbook and their team.

Not to mention that it allows every moron on this board to come forward and say "So this is why (my favorite team) got beat in Seattle." instead of really giving the rest of the team any credit.

Way to go Sherman/Browner...

Do you expect people to read every post in a thread?I read one post about multiple members bickering. I read the link, then added what Jason LaCanfora(SP?) said on the radio this morning "Players are responsible"

So which of these is more likely?A. Absurd story comes from an anonymous source and is true even though Sherman has denied it.

B. Absurd story comes from an anonymous source and is false because Sherman has denied it.

You get to choose which you believe i guess. For the moment I would lean towards B. Weirder things have happened. He may have done something really stupid and is completely embarrassed. I won't be surprised to see people flock to story A. Some people (not most) will flock towards any sort of rumor for the sake of entertainment or the need to tear others down. Sherman is getting labeled amongst the elite CBs now by several pundits. The higher the pedestal the more zeal people will use in ripping him down.

don't players get a warning before they are suspended?
I believe that's a difference between the performance enhancing drug policy, and the substance abuse policy.PEDs the first offense is a suspension which is the case here. Substance abuse, the first offense is a warning and a requirement to go through a substance abuse evaluation.

yeah, why could they possily not want extra energy on game day.

Huh? are you insane? this is the article. fine if sherman is now denying this but both our posts are 100% on pt with what is written here. 11:57PM EST November 26. 2012 - Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, suspended for four games for violating the NFL's doping policy, says he unknowingly ingested Adderall prescribed to a teammate, according to a person informed of Sherman's explanation.

The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because neither Sherman nor his agent have discussed the details of the case publicly, said Sherman says he accidentally drank from a bottle into which a teammate poured a crushed Adderall pill. The person said the teammate is permitted to take the drug under NFL rules because he has a prescription.

not necessarily so. The :tinfoilhat: version is more likely than the status quo version for once. If you test positive for any PED, and the NFL cant comment on the test/confirm anything, you say it was for adderall to avoid the public outcry over PEDS. Don't you find it odd that every NFL player this yer has somehow tested positive for a substance that would have been legal had they merely gotten a legal script (easy, especially for an NFL team with DR.'s on payroll) and filed some paperwork? Are all the agents and players that stupid? No. the more likely answer is that Adderall, a drug prescribed to and taken by millions of americans, has MUCH less stigma than anything else and will use that excuse for any PED test that comes up now and in the future.

not surprised you are this dense. reading comprehension fail.

Yeah, OK geniuses. And it is a PED in what way?So stupid - for being a banned substance, and if true, the players for taking something that doesn't even give them an edge.
I think I've read before that Adderall can also cover up traces of other PED's or banned substances, but I could be misremembering.
This. Players take adderall so they can cover up use of steroids.
this has been alleged a lot in this thread. I've never heard that. If that were true I imagine that the NFL wouldnt allow anyone to use it prescription or not.

Internet user: How can your story make sense? How could you have possibly drank it when it will taste awful and color the water? That story makes no sense. I don't think they can, legally.
Are there any legal prescription drugs that the NFL bans? Honest question.
I'm not sure either. How could they? "We're sorry that you need this medication to function/heal/be well, but it happens to hide banned drugs in our tests. You can't take it."

Ironically, last week a backup CB, Winston Guy, got suspended and didn't use the Adderal excuse. PFT even commented on how at least he wasn't a tool for trying to blame it on Adderal. Also, OG John Moffit got popped last year for it and Browner is in the substance abuse program and gets tested 3 times every week. If he actually took it, then he's dumber than a bag of rocks. I'd tend to believe he was innocent of it more than I would Sherman. However, until there's something more substantial as a defense, my inclination is to assume they're both ####### idiots and have probably cost their team (and fans like myself) a trip to the playoffs.

Good point, and one I didn't really consider but also makes sense. I was looking at it from the angle of simply did they test positive with no reasonable explanation or was there some weird lab mix-up and/or they are the subject of a massive NFL conspiracy to foil the Seahawks playoff chances. If you assume they tested positive and it was an accurate test, then "yes", your version is the next logical step: Adderall is better than the weird crap they were actually using. You're just one step ahead of me I suppose. :bag:

On the bright side, at least you don't have to worry about it from Green Bay fans.

I did a lot of googling yesterday and couldn't find a single reference that mentioned Adderall being a masking agent.Anything that talked about them being banned from various sports that gave any kind of reasoning, it seemed they were banned because they are considered actual PEDs like other amphetamines.

Adderall is not a masking agent. It has no possible use in a steroid cycle that would either enhance the results or hide the use thereof.

It is possible the players who have been dinged for roids simply report that it was "only" Adderall for PR purposes.

Adderall is a different type of PED than roids, but a PED nonetheless.
