Send Some Good Vibes My Way Tonight If You Wouldn’t Mind (1 Viewer)

Thanks, man. When this is hopefully done and things are good, we should grab some coffee. Peace.
I know this comment wasn't directed at me but it would be super cool to get a coffee with you some day.
Rock and I live literal blocks from each other and keep trying to make it happen but I suck and am busy as ****.
So Cal? I’ve had “plans” with @nirad3 and @5ishfinkle for years.

Hang in there rock! Dad will be able to go home soon.

T&Ps, though I'm not particularly religious so I grabbed my youngest daughter and had her fire off the prayer. Hang in there, horrible situation but you're doing the best you can.

Pretzel bag. Again, it’s the thought.
I'm a fan of yogurt covered pretzels and I like key lime pie, so I'd give those pretzels a try.

rock, I'm sorry your back on the East Coast under these circumstances. Good vibes, 🙏 and well wishes to Daddy rock, and heavy sprinkles of Pixie Dust 🧚‍♀️to all of you. It is said that Pixie Dust allows anyone covered in it to fly, so I'm hoping it will also lift everyone's spirits up. Much love to you, rock.

I think the dust will do it! Thanks, simey!

Late to the party here, good luck. I always wish I could say something profound in these situations. I always want to offer the "if you need anything..." line, but then I wonder if that would look self serving. I mean how could I help? I am in Colorado and I assume you aren't asking for money. So does that read just as a look at me line? Do such offers matter? I mean if there would be a photo or souvenir or something that could be purchased within say a two hour radius of Denver, I could definitely be a gopher. Perhaps a local booze that can't be purchased elsewhere that could bring back some memory, I will happily go get and ship, declaring that it is a lubricant on the shipping docs since it is illegal to ship spirits via USPS, but you can ship lubricants, and let's be honest that's not even lying since spirits are like a social lubricant. But anyway, I wish you the best and will ship you lubricants if you need them.

(Inspired by the disjointed writings of rock that I have come to know and love)

What you were saying reminds me of the trips we took when I was growing up. Staying in gross motels somewhere halfway to Florida

Absolutely. It’s hard to imagine those memories die with us. There will be no third generation of gross motels and car trips. It just didn’t work that way. The cheap family motels became products of a drug culture that discourages family excursions. Entertainment is so vast the need for these trips no longer exists as a practical matter. The funds are all spent on Netflix and smart refrigerators. No time nor wherewithal for the family trip in the car.

Oh. we still do family trips via car, we just stay in decent hotels for overnight stops.

Being with the parents in these situations I’m sure means the world to them. Give your mom back the bed after you get rested up and enjoy the time with her. The docs will get your pops all squared away soon and you guys can all work on that puzzle. Thoughts sent to Connecticut and the Rock Fam. Be well.

Thank you, General. Tried to give up the bed but there was no having it even when I sprawled on the cot. I def tried. Tmrw maybe — a new day.
I'm not a psychologist, but your Mom is probably feeling pretty helpless about your Dad's situation. So, she is taking care of her Son by giving up the bed. She is doing what she can to care for the family. In a couple of days assure her you are okay and now she needs to care for herself and take the bed.
Hope all goes well with your Dad's surgery and hoping for strength and peace for you and your Mom.

Update:

At the hospital. Dad is watching the Bruins. I’m bored but at least he’s in good spirits though they’re behind schedule in getting him a CAT scan. That’ll increase his wait. He wants out. I don’t blame him. It’s hurry up and wait for him right now. So they think he needs a valve replaced or altered, but it’s not likely open heart surgery. That’s good. So thanks for all the well-wishes. They have served us well so far.

It’s really amazing—this modern medicine. Twenty years ago even and this would be a death sentence.

I'm not being trivial when I say this, but heart surgery today isn't the death sentence it was 30 years ago or even 15 years ago. The strides made are amazing and if he's at even a halfway competent hospital, he's going to come through with flying colors. Keep up the faith GB. I'll pass the story on to my wife. She likes to hear these sorts of things given her hands in the progression of heart science/medicine.

His valve!

Good luck man and just try to stay present for yourself and your parents and not worry about the future or any annoyances. Just try to take it all in and be there for them and be kind to yourself too.

If it's any consolation, my dad had triple bypass with an aortic valve replacement 20 years ago and he's doing fine. I think he got the pig valve and not the titanium so he's worried about being at the end of the shelf life for the pig valve but these surgeries have come a long way in 20 years. Hoping everything goes just fine.

i sincerely wish you and your pop and family all the best as a heart surgery guy myself i believe this will all work out take care of yourself rock

This is called transcatheter valve replacement and it's been a game-changer. As you know, I cover cardiology, so feel free to hit me up if you're not sure what to make of what the doctors are telling you. Best of luck!

Late to the party but all the good vibes heading your way. (I'm in NY so Boston ain that far for vibes to travel).

But to the bolded, my father had a quad bypass a few years ago, and while its nothing to thumb your nose at, Dr friends of mine advised me that cardiac surgeons do these types of things so routinely, that its like changing the oil in a car.
