I don't want Fop #######it, I'm a Dapper Dan man.

"Dump Alert! This #MammothMarch storm left us with 54-70" of new snow since Tuesday. It really dumped these past few days and it's DEEP out there. Expect extensive patrol work this morning, lifts may be delayed due to icing and avalanche control work. Remember to ride safe in deep snow, avoid the base of trees, always ride with a buddy, if you're going to fall attempt to do so feet first and please respect all on-mountain closures."

I'd say this qualifies as "Snowmageddon" for NC/VA folks.

Kind of excited. I normally work 7 days a week, so a forced day off is nice. About to get some Chorizo Beans started and maybe watch a full day of football for the first time in years.

I’m in South Charlotte, right below the freezing line. All rain.

I'm in Greensboro and we have at least 10 inches of snow, and now it is sleeting. I hope I don't lose power.
My brother, living close to Jamestown, says he has a foot. My mom north of you, up in Eden, has more than half a foot and counting.

About 10" here and still coming. Of course my dogs decide to pick now to get into a fight. One left a big gash on the other's head. I'm using Neosporin all I can but it could be days before I can get out of here. This thing is definitely going to need stitches to properly  heal.

Seems like the Southern boys are way less enthralled by the snow than us mid-atlantic bros.  If this storm had hit between DC and NYC, this thread would be 10 pages longer.

Milwaukee didn't even get much snow today. And, it was mostly during the night. I shoveled and snow blowed my snow this morning, got done at 10:30. Still, at 6:00pm, not one snow plow has come through on my street. I need a plow to take away the snow at the end of my driveway. It's going to get much colder tonight. Who wants to bet when the plow will come through?

Kind of ludicrous and infuriating.

Huh.  So my campus preemptively announced that it is closing on Wednesday for the first time in probably 15 years.  Our wind chill that day is supposed be around -30F as our daytime high, so I guess I can't blame them.

Our School District closed tomorrow and Wednesday.

Tues high -6 low -27

Wed high -15 low -31

Those are air temps.

We aren't official yet, but the one time we dipped down to a -30 wind chill we closed so it's a foregone conclusion.

NW Indiana checking in daughter is a teacher e-learning next 3 days (schools closed) wife is admin has to report or use sick time WTF snow is manageable but temps are not getting above 0 F until possibly Friday

That would be nice. Here, the plows just deposit more snow at the end of my driveway and usually it's hard packed and heavier..

I was spoiled as a kid.  It took me too long to realize this once moving to where we live now.  Where I grew up the plows didn't do this, but it was just because of the shape of our road.  We were on a curve, so all that nasty salted slushed snow got shoved to the side of the driveway - never had to deal with it.  It took at least two years of home ownership for me to adjust to that snow now residing at the end of my driveway.  It's rendered my snow blower totally useless as it can't function if we get more than 2-3" inches, which is often.  So rather than snow blowing the whole thing and shovel that I just shovel the whole thing now.  Takes about the same amount of time and it's bonus exercise.

Last evening, the city came and plowed. The whole block snowblowed their driveway entrance. It looked nice. Wake up this morning, and now there is snow at everyones entrance. It's freezing and I doubt anyone is going to redo it. It was looking good last night. Now, ugh!

Supposed to snow in Portland this weekend. The forecast is calling for 4 snow events through Monday, which theoretically could bring as much as 21 inches of snow.

Sitting here at 9:45 on Friday night and there isn't a speck of snow in the sky.

:coffee:

In the general vicinity.

Currently raining hard but not cold enough to snow. It's going to be weird when the temps drop and there's a sheet of ice on the ground for the snow to fall on.

I can't remember the last time the heater came on at night in September here. It's usually still quite warm. It snowed in the Sierra's too. 😲

My neighbors turned on the heater in August when the temperature went down to the 40’s, but it was only for one night.  The weather here will swing between 50 and 80 this week.
North Bay CA is in the 40s at night. It's 50s at night where I am. We'll gain a few degrees each day until Fri when inland will be 87. I usually don't dig for warmer clothes until Halloween. Hoping it will be the same this year so I don't have to face the horrors that is my closet yet.

Still early, but so far it looks like the setup for the Mid Atlantic winter will be stormy, but not always cold.  And what that means is this might be a season where we see several storms come up the coast that are forecasted to dump 10 inches of snow only to be nothing but rain.

On average, I believe SE PA sees a snowfall of a foot or more every 4 to 5 years.  (I think that's right.  Going off of memory, which isn't great of late.)  Our last big storm was 2016.  So we're due.  Which means nothing, really.  But it sounds good if you're a fan of snow.

Mt. Holly's first snow map of the season.

I have a feeling we get a big one in Philly this season.  We are due.  No science behind that prediction.  Just a feeling.
