Yea me too. I always thought Quick was a guy that came through our organization that we traded away. Now I can't find that anywhere. Not sure why I heard people say that before. Maybe I'm crazy.

A thought: Quick now has a playoff GAA of 2.69 (it was 2.80 before tonight). I was wondering when the last time was a goalie had that high of a playoff GAA on a Cup-winning team. I have never really looked it up, but that seems high (which is obviously inflated by a handful of games, especially early on in the Sharks series).
It's crazy cause they said he allowed 29 goals in 20 games two years ago, and he has now allowed 65 goals in 24 games this year, yet the Kings are still one win away from a sweep to win the Cup. Crazy.

Niemi had a GAA of 2.63 in 2010
Fleury's was 2.61 in 2009
Kings scored 57 goals in 20 games in 2012
They have 84 goals in 24 games this year.

Ah, okay. Niemi doesn't surprise me, as I remember the Blackhawks scoring a lot during that Cup run, although it can be hard to remember years and specifics and whatnot.

The Rangers were the better team in LA and came back with nothing. They looked defeated once Krieder couldnt put the puck in off the opening face off.
It was a fun ride but last night was pretty miserable. Quick was insane and he is the difference. It is crazy how many bounces have gone the kings way. Its too bad the Rangers couldnt do enough to get their own bounces.
I would like to see a win for my own personal sake so its not an awful cup experience but it doesnt really matter at this point

Hardly a brutal/disgusting showing, they are just overmatched here as was mentioned by many (myself included) before the series started. Although that did seem to be a demoralized team once Carter scored that buzzer beater.
As Acer said, the Rangers' world-class best player just happens to have a better counterpart in the net down the other end of the ice. And for all the talk about bad luck bounces, it's really the Kings taking advantage of the luck and the Rangers not. That's how the first two games were won.
Proud of the Blueshirts for getting this far, but they just ran into a buzzsaw. Damn San Jose for not being able to win one more game.

Maybe, but I think the Rangers would have matched up better against those teams. Maybe at least stand a puncher's chance in a goalie vs goalie matchup.

While last night's game was definitely a letdown, I will be really disappointed if they don't win on Wednesday. They really needed to win one of those first two games and try to end this early because the Kings size was guaranteed to wear the Rangers down if they went 7. If they win Wednesday, I still think this could go 7. That's as far ahead as I'll look right now.

It can't be proven either way, but I think there's a good reason why, coming into the playoffs, many thought most of the best teams were from the West (plus Boston).
sure, you can't say for sure what would happen but all the top teams in the West would be big favorites over the Rangers whether they met in round 1, 2, 3, or 4.It's just an opinion that can't be proven.

Hate to be a hater, GB, but the Rangers are clearly overmatched. Just have to tip your hat to an outstanding team. Even if the Rangers squeak out a win at MSG tomorrow night, they'll be done in LA.
While they may have had a chance against the likes of CHI, SJ or ANA, unfortunately we'll never know. And not very relevant anyway.

Don't get me wrong, grew up listening to Emrick when he broadcast the Maine Mariners their first three years... he was GREAT on the radio...GREAT...because you couldn't see the action. He basically does radio PbP on TV when less is more. It's just an avalanche of adjectives... (ladles, flexes it on, shovel shot)... [cringes]
I loved listening to Dan Kelly on TV... He was phenomenal on TV or radio

I'll give you that - sometimes he can go overboard on the descriptive terminology and has a face for radio. But he brings a passion that few announcers do, and that counts a lot in my book. He's often the only reason I watch the Devils games during the year.

Rangers actually didn't play as badly as they did in Game 4 in Pittsburgh when they went down 3 games to 1. Quick made a couple of fantastic saves last night (such as the one where he just got his stick against the post when the Ranger had a gimme tuck in). Quick also was lucky a couple of times (such as when the pcuk hit the upper handle of his stick).
For those who say the series is over, I say

Weren't the Rangers basically a 5 or 6 seed in the east?
No way they'd have a chance against any of the top west teams. They caught two massive breaks when Price stonewalled Boston and then got immediately hurt in the ECF. They're probably the 10-12th best team in the league this year and then got hot and lucky at the same time. Lundqvist would have to seriously outplay Quick for them to have a prayer and it isn't happening.

In all seriousness, a few bad breaks, but this series is over... It was over after game 2 - You don't blow a 2 goal lead in games 1 and 2 on the road and then come back to win 4 out of 6. The goal with under 1 second left in the first period yesterday was the final nail in the coffin. As little chance people gave the Rangers in this series, a few breaks in the other direction and this is a very tight series right now.

I'd put them inside the top 10, but agree on the general point. Rangers have played better than the 3-0 series lead indicates and they are playing some of their best hockey all season right now...but the Kings also aren't playing that great. very sloppy, actually. really shows the gap between the two teams. Rangers are a good not great team IMO.
I don't know though, still time for the Kings to be caught off guard by all that speed. certainly nothing they've seen this playoffs from better teams.

You've got to go back a ways, but Barrasso was at 2.60 and 2.82 on the back-to-back Penguins Cup winners in 1991 and '92.
Grant Fuhr actually was 2.90 in 1988 ... during the most dominating Cup win ever (Oilers only lost two games, outscoring teams 87-55).
