Star Wars Universe (2 Viewers)

My wife is a huge SW geek. She's read all of the books. We took in The Book of BF ep.1 last night.

I was like "Oh, so that's how he came back."

She said, "true geeks know what happened with the Starlacc in the '90's."

"Starlacc?"

"Don't you know anything?'

The fight with the sand people looked really cheap - it was dark and there was no landscape in the background, so it was just two guys in a room.  I'm preprogrammed to like this, but I thought it was just below mediocre.

Stuff I liked: They made him look a bit more normal.  He lost weight and looked better in general.  The Gamorreans looked strong - they just looked like fat guys in Jedi, here they looked more like fullbacks.

Stuff I didn't like: Cheap look. I think they need to lean into him being 61 and moving like Frankenstein in some of the action scenes. The energy shields in the fight scene just disappeared unless I missed some mechanism explaining why they went out... even with the Gamorreans helping, they were hosed there.

I'm going to watch the whole show, but where Mandalorian has the western feel, this is missing something.

Him running from the Tusken Raiders/massiff made me  :lmao:

I get the actor is 61, but if that is supposed to be RoTJ-era Boba Fett in those flashback scenes, they should have brought in a stunt runner.

We're going to see the Cincinnati symphony do Return of the Jedi live tonight.  Can't wait to wash this Boba Fett nonsense from my brain.

If you ever get a chance to see Lord of the Rings that way, take it... the choral chanting and weird instruments like "distressed piano" (open-topped and hit with chains) and anvil are amazing.

Book of Boba Fett has been a major disappointment so far, I am sad to say.

That chase through Mos Espa was terrible looking.

I agree.  Last two episodes will have some tie-in and surprise stuff that will make up for it to an extent.

I just did not think they needed to tell this story at all, or bring Boba Fett back.  The story doesn't make a lot of sense for his character or what they are even trying to portray IMO.  The back to the future teenage biker gang is terrible.  Now, Danny Trejo and that fight scene -- that was cool.

I can’t argue with your point, not sure this story was necessary but I still like to watching the show and I feel like there is a definite story going on.  The Back to the Future gang seemed way out of place though. Didn’t even have a Star Wars feel to it at all.

@Leeroy Jenkins are they shootings Mandalorian right now? Any idea when it comes out?
They are shooting currently.  Not sure of release date.  Supposed to move to Ahsoka 4-6 weeks after they wrap -- he thinks that will start filming in April.

He did say these middle episodes were just OK.  Episode 6-7 supposed to be pretty good.  He keeps insisting that Obi-Wan is amazing front to back.

Hi Star Wars fans...

I posted this elsewhere, but my daughter and I got booked to do a Disney photoshoot over the weekend... the booking was top secret, no mention at all what, where, who... just "Disney & Star Wars".

Turned out to be promotional stuff for their new immersive hotel "Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser", opening in March. We got to go in and engage some of the rooms and characters for the shoot (phones were confiscated at security, so no pics- sorry).

The idea is it's a 2 night minimum stay, on a galactic cruise. The entire hotel is fitted out like a space ship, with all employees in costume, including characters you'll know from SW cannon. Guests are recommended to dress and act like SW characters (we were outfitted like that- generically looking like SW without being specific characgters). There are a lot of interactive rooms and possibilities to have unscripted adventures within the stay, including visiting the Star Wars themed resort (where I think you have experiences tied to the adventures that normal visitors wouldn't have). The rooms apparently have windows that are screens looking out into space passing by- we didn't see those, or most of the rest of the hotel.

We started on the bridge- which had a bunch of consoles, most facing a giant screen/windshield looking out into space. That ended up being essentially a giant video game, accessed by about 20 people working in teams- you could shoot tie-fighters or asteroids or operate droids (I'm sure more than that). The room, visuals and interface were amazing. There were also other consoles working the shield (console video game- less cool) or "engineering" (solving puzzles- also less cool). We had 4 stormtroopers overseeing us the entire time (stayed in character even between shots) as well as people painted and costumed. a droid similar to R2 was buzzing around the lobby- not a little person, seemed like an actual remote control droid.

We shot in Engineering next... with Chewbacca (and s/he was absolutely incredible- 7' tall, couldn't tell there was a costume at all, sounded and acted perfect and during a fire alarm where we all had to evacuate outside into the FL mid-day heat- he stayed in costume and character perfectly... I couldnt help but stare at him in awe the entire time we shot with him). I'm hoping there are good pics of us with Chewie. The room, otoh... a bunch of big multi-person, escape-room puzzles, most of which were similar to each other. might be fun for tween or younger for a few minutes- my 10yo was bored with them after about 15. But freaking Chewie!

Next was Light Saber training with Rey, and then a jedi trainer. Cool interactive light sabers and shields that would engage (light up and vibrate) when you blocked lasers coming out of a wall. Fun for a bit, but we got there at the end of a very long day and were both fried... so that might have tainted our experience.

We also got to see the Lobby, Dining Room, a little bit of the bar/casino and an outdoor planted room. The whole place is impeccably designed top to bottom (even the HVAC fit right in... everything but the damned Exit signs- stupid US building code).

I think the experience is super expensive- like 6k- which seems like a lot to me. But I thought I'd throw it out there for you guys... if you actually have been enjoying Mando and BF, you are a SW superfan and you'll lose your minds at this place.

Oh I can’t wait for Ashoka and Obi Wan. I’m excited for the Ashoka story of finding Ezra.

Yeah, not a fan of them, thought the chase scene was poorly done.
Boba's way too nice in this and he seems to have no idea how to be a crime lord. Like the Wookie though.

Wow that is very cool. We want to try this one day when my son is older - interested to read about the reviews when it’s up and running.

Awesome write-up. Too bad my daughters could care less about SW, otherwise I would maybe try and pitch this to them, though that price tag, lol.

Agree that the story just doesn't make sense.  He is supposed to be this level-headed/benevolent leader who "rules by respect", but we are just supposed to forget that he straight up murdered ol' Bib Fortuna to take the throne?

A story with Boba and Black Krrsantan riding around on rancors wreaking havoc I could get behind. This, not so much.

I'll keep watching for Episodes 6 and 7, as I have faith those will be worth it, but this is kind of painful.

For me, the whole flashback tank dreams thing is obvious and annoying. I get it that they’re providing background, but this story doesn’t need much of it imo.

I couldn’t believe the chase scene made it through QC. That was bad.

Hope that’s where this is going.

Haven't seen ep3 yet but enjoyed ep2.  Ep1 reminded me of watching Looney Tunes as a child at the picture show with the musical score.  I was expecting Bugs Bunny to come popping out when he was putting on the armor and give him a wet one right on the kisser.

I forgot about this thread.  bd

i like boba fett so far it is pretty fun but i guess i try to like things instead of finding problems so that is just me take that to the bank brohans

I swear we’re going to get a a finale with like 15 minutes of Boba riding rancor and wrecking havoc on the entire Pyke syndicate and someone will be like “that drunk Jawa farting was totally stupid…worst episode ever)

The music was awesome - the male choral chanting was just great. Wookiee devastation, Machete, and the Rancor were cool. The bike chase was just so stupid looking, but apart from that I liked the episode.

lol I’ve been called a Star Wars apologist like 25 times in various threads for liking most stuff Disney has done with the franchise and I don’t like 3 episodes and all of a sudden we’re all negative.

It just hasn’t worked for me so far. I don’t really know why. I feel like the Fett actor is a snooze fest and I just don’t care about the storyline so far. Nobody hopes it gets better more than me. And if you’re enjoying it, great! I liked episodes 8 and 9 of the movies, who cares if others have different opinions.

Agree on it being just OK. It’s no Hawkeye. My main gripe is that Fett just seems like a moron. This was the guy that Lord Vader turned to for his dirty work. I mean, you can’t get any more bad ### than that. However, in this show, he is a bumbling idiot. Almost like he is the comedic portion to Fennick being the big baddie. Seems odd

Yea, they are messing with his character too much.  Wish they kept his helmet on more too (and did the opposite on Mandalorian).  Fennick actress is pretty bad IMO.

Maybe this is my biggest problem …. They de-mystified Boba Fett for some reason. Who thought we needed to see the guy behind the mask?

This is not based on any inside info --- but I think they are going to tie into both Mandalorian as well as their plans for Emelia Clarke/Darth Maul with the whole crime syndicate stuff.  So maybe they wanted a more beloved or recognizable character for that, but really that could have been done without Boba Fett..

Yea I saw she was getting a show. That could be.

Shame the Solo kid doesn’t appear to be getting another chance. They had a lot of stories they could’ve covered.

Hmmm...might have something to do with almost being killed in the Sarlac? He's not that far removed from that.

Was thinking we could see Crimson Dawn as part of this season, but IIRC Maul is dead (again) at this point, but could get Qi’Ra

i suppose they could flash back to a younger boba and include them both, but im not entirely sure how the timeline lines up for that
