Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (9 Viewers)

FWIW I heard (perhaps even in this here thread) that S3 got canceled.
I see nothing that indicates S3 of Night Agent to be cancelled. What I see is that it will likely be dropping in early 2026.
Maybe he was thinking of The Recruit? Similar type of show, two seasons and was recently canceled.
absolutely the worst thing Netflix could do was release these two show at the same time.

Enjoyed The Recruit S1, Night Agent was ok but not as good, now I don't care about either.

Maybe - I know The Recruit was mentioned when I was looking for shows in that genre, and I coulda sworn they said Night Agent got the axe.
Recruit was cancelled.

Night Agent Season 3 went into production last year - that may be the last season, but as far as I can tell there will still be Season 3
I suppose Nickelback made multiple albums as well.

Thought the Errol Morris doc Chaos was boring, unfortunately. Spent most of the time rehashing the Manson murders, which most people probably know about already. I hadn't heard about Tom O'Neill or his book and thought he came across unconvincing. He basically did what he blamed Vincent Bugliosi doing, wrote a book with fantastical theories to sell it but couldn't back anything up. skip IMO.

It's not possible that Trap was made. Or even if made, how could it be released? Or if released, how could it ever be put in theaters or on streaming services?

It's not possible.

It's the single-worst anything I've ever seen in my life. I just kept fast-forwarding because I couldn't watch but I couldn't shut it off.

I either have to shower or kill myself. Something.

It has to be like an experiment or something to see if a studio would really release it. Has to be.

Just started Underbelly, a series about different crime gangsters in Australia. 6 seasons (some places say 7) of 45-minute episodes, with each season about a different particular timeframe and gangsters. It should be called "Violence and Sex in Australia" or "Testosterone Amok, Mate". There's a lot of fast loud music soundtracks in each episode which is annoying but the stories move along and action always ensues. Nothing deep at all going on, no plot to figure out on your own, just copes ineffectively trying to arrest gangsters who kill the hell out of people.
on Tubi and Roku.
Finished the first 2 seasons of Underbelly (13 episodes each) and it's a "sit back and don't think too much" series. Each episode moves long briskly, lots of sex and violence, each season covers a different time frame and place. For what it tries to do it's good. I needed this for relaxation after watching several pretty dark series.
I've finished the 6 official seasons of Underbelly, about gangster crime at different times in different places in Australia. The first 4 seasons are good and don't require any heavy thought; just sit back and watch. Lots of violence and sex. Season 5 is awful and Season 6 is not much better, so my advice is to just watch the first 4. I enjoyed 1-4.

I've just started what is supposed to be Season 7, "Fat Tony", and it's much more like the first 4 seasons and I'm enjoying it.

On Roku and Tubi.

Can you maybe put in spoilers what you mean? I thought it was and interesting premise but didn’t read any reviews or check RT

So, uh.....White Lotus, huh? :oldunsure:
sam rockwells conversation got upstaged by the brothers :oldunsure:

Before the episode my wife said there’s something crazy that happens in the episode and when that scene happened I was like, “well, I guess that was it?”. She said no so I immediately guessed what was going to happen as it was the only other thing I could think of and they kind of hinted at it in an earlier episode.

Also, Goggins facial expressions in that scene with Rockwell- :lmao:

Well, I started to type in "Is Trap the" ... And Google auto populated to "worst movie ever made?" So I guess I'm not alone.

Premise. Plot. Acting.

It has to be a joke.

I didn't mind the premise, although it seemed far-fetched. The premise had potential.

Everything else was bad. As somebody else mentioned earlier, it was a two-hour music video for his daughter.

As good as the first season of True Detective was (and it was great) the second season is awful. We tapped out after three episodes.

Moved on to Superman & Lois. Pretty teenage angsty but I'm interested so far.
We stopped watching after episode 2 of Season 3.

I can't really recommend this show. The first two seasons were kind of okay but unfortunately the worst part of the show is...Lois. Why did they have to make her a screeching harpie?

Adolescence...wow. Two eps in and blown away by this one.
I wish I could un-watch this. The presentation was really cool, but the subject matter terrified the hell out of me. My son is eleven years old and is growing up in an ever-changing world that I know very little about.

Yeah... The scariest bit was at the school for me- seeing the behavior of the kids. But I'm fairly certain there's nothing remotely close to that in my 13 and 17yos lives. Their peers at least pretend to be respectful to adults and teachers.

***spoilers***

Watched HBO MAX, A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read. Not gonna lie, I kinda recall the name being familiar but had ZERO knowledge of what was happening in the Canton community in regards to this case. As I started to watch it just felt like she was guilty. For me, the biggest piece pushing me to that decision was that she was able to spot the body in those weather conditions at night so far off the road. How in the world could she have seen the body without knowing. As the trial moved on good amount of wtf moments popped up. The google search about dieing in the cold. The butt dials felt really weird. When in doubt I can scream butt dial? The snow plow guy no seeing the body? Karen and that FBI guy were flirting and kissed? Feels like motive. The big on is the autopsy had an inconclusive cause of death? Scratches on arm? A dog? The only dog on the property was given away? Dude threw his phone away a day before they wanted it? He threw it away in some random place? I'm usually really good at making personal verdicts on watching stuff like this, but this one is a damn near draw for me. I agree with the first trial verdict. Mistrial. No matter my opinion on the case, I believe the prosecution just didn't do enough here to prosecute her. Solid watch though for those crime documentaries.

My GF is a grade 2 teacher. Until she told me what she goes through I had no idea. It's very scary. I wouldn't suggest anyone become a teacher any more. This is in Ontario, Canada, so your mileage may vary but OMG the things these kids do and say is mind boggling. The teachers have their hands tied and can hardly do anything to address it. The words that come out of their mouths, well, I don't even say. She got a concussion late last year because a kid through a basketball at the side of her head from about 10 feet away. No consequences for the kid. Just one example.

It really was incredible. I'm haunted by episode 4 (and to a lesser extent, episode 4) in particular. All of the acting was amazing, but the performance by the dad was mind-blowing.
That was Jamie's first gig... He too was incredible.

And to a lesser extent, Jamie was too.
I didn't see the show, but I saw what you did there.

It was incredibly awful acting. I was unreasonably annoyed that this concert, which is clearly supposed to be a very popular artist, was during the day.

You, sir, have had your Lady in the Water moment. Never go back to M Night.

Adolescence was pretty spectacular. The acting performances of the dad and son, in particular, were amazing.

And the one-shot deal was unreal. I have no idea how they could do that. And, what, if someone screwed up at all in the entire hour, redo the whole thing? For the actor portraying the dad to do those emotional scenes without a reset or break or whatever is just crazy.

Just finished most recent White Lotus episode. Sam Rockwell came in with a bang. Ha ha. Dark, disturbing, yet hilarious and entertaining. My goodness Sam. How do you read the script and say, "yep, I can do that." I enjoyed this episode. Soooooooooo glad the two brothers didn't get weird when they kissed. It have me those vibes like it was about to get medieval.

Adolescents was great. Makes me happy that my wife and I grew up in simpler times. We were extremely lucky that all the social media stuff didn't rear it's ugly head until my kids were in their late teens. Too late to do them much harm.

I know anyone born after Gen x will disagree with me. But I believe these video games and social media has definitely harmed the psyche of our kids today.

Each episode took 3 weeks to complete. Week 1: actors rehearsal; week 2: camera rehearsal; week 3: film 2x per day for 5 days.

I have worked with teenagers for the last 24 years. The pandemic has had a profound negative impact on their growth and development. Mix in the issues with social media and you get some seriously disturbed kids.

I follow some teacher forums. The teachers in this country are really hurting right now. Trying to control the deviant behaviors in their classrooms is a daily struggle. They are getting little help from their admins and the students' parents are continually complaining about even the smallest things. At this point I don't recommend public school teaching in the US as a future career for anyone.

It's unfortunate that so many think Adolescence is based on a true story. It's actually a compilation of tragic events in the UK with wholly different circumstances. It is indeed still quite rare for intact, 2-parent, loving families with no history of abuse to or violence to have this outcome. I feel it's wrong to suggest otherwise. Just look at the discussion here.

I haven't seen a single person in this thread say it's based on a true story.

Never even occured to me until that post

Is there supposed to be a link on the word "here" linking to some other place where people are discussing how the show is based on a true story and is the expected outcome for all UK families?

My daughter was a 2nd grade teacher at a Title I school. Most of the kids were good/great but there was always a handful that were a "handful".

MobLand

Could be good. Coming to Paramount+ March 30th
Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren
Fingers crossed on this. Tom Hardy can be sooo good.

Interesting that originally it was going to be a Ray Donovan origin story but they decided to make it it's own thing instead.

Watched Deli Boys on ... Paramount, Hulu or peacock... Lol- sorry, they all blur.

It's a decent comedy series. Spoiled grown sons of Pakistani immigrant self made businessman learn what dad actually did for work.

Pretty consistent humor and show that doesn't elevate to top tier, but is solidly decent. Worth a watch if you're looking for something.
