Won't repeat a lot of the logic already posted. I decided to go for the Finley/Witten TE combo at the last minute. Expect the TE's to be powerful flex option. Went with Clayton as a last minute flyer. RB options are common. Ronnie Brown was kind of a teaser with the value but big risk to see if he can last the season.

Ben Roethlisberger $14 0.00

I went with FBG's recommended QBBC strategy. I had Anderson in and out several times, but the risk of him potentially not holding onto the starting job made me add Fred Taylor at RB instead. With one required starter at QB and no flex possibility, I didn't want to invest more at QB. Hopefully the early contest cutoffs are high enough so having only 1 QB until after Ben's bye doesn't kill me.

Chris Johnson $40 0.00

Adrian Peterson $38 0.00

Arian Foster $13 0.00

Fred Taylor $6 0.00

The goal is to win this thing, so I need points late in the contest. CJ3 and AP were two of the biggest values in terms of projected points vs. cost. These two should score enough to count for three starting players. The Vikes should still be playing starters late in the season for playoffs/homefield, and the Titans will be in the mix as well. Injury to either is a huge risk, but putting all my eggs in one basket seems better than going with a roster that ensures a high probability of fewer points. Taylor is additional insurance (maybe). Foster will likely be my flex scorer for a majority of weeks, and hopefully the additional points from the big 2 means my flex needs to contribute a lot less.

Andre Johnson $32 0.00

Roddy White $27 0.00

Mike Williams $8 0.00

Bernard Berrian $7 0.00

Laurent Robinson $7 0.00

Louis Murphy $4 0.00

I really wanted to get Calvin, but his week 7 BYE is the same as Andre's, plus the Lions are not going to be in the playoff race late in the season, which made me nervous that some injury might get him pulled or he might just not push as hard as possible. So, if I'm going to count on Ryan doing well at QB, then pairing him with Roddy makes sense. The Texans and the Falcons should both be in the mix late in the season as well. Between the other 4 WRs, I have a reasonable shot at getting enough for WR3 type scoring to pair with WR1 scoring from the other two starters.

Jason Witten $19 0.00

Anthony Fasano $7 0.00

Witten should be solid, and I'm betting that Brandon Marshall makes things easier for Fasano this year. I looked at another top TE starter instead of a top WR starter, but having to score 3 WRs made me nervous to put too much emphasis on TE. I love the TE value vs. WRs, but I decided my RB3 would likely be my flex most of the time and invested to make sure I have 3 good scoring WRs. I expect Fasano will end up as flex on a couple good weeks, but not a ton.

Graham Gano $2 0.00

Matt Bryant $2 0.00

Only two kickers makes me uneasy at this position. Gano projected at about 110 points for the year (just outside the top 20), and Bryant around 120 (just outside the top 10). The two combined shouldn't be much of a handicap, but they definitely aren't an advantage.

San Diego Chargers $5 0.00

Kansas City Chiefs $3 0.00

Went with FBG's recommended DefBC strategy. I loved the Jets value, but couldn't make it work. Defensive scores are unpredictable. Wish the contest used more predictable DST parameters like points allowed or yards allowed in addition to just turnovers.

I had lineups with ~25 players as well, but then I put them next to this lineup and asked which one is more likely to win in the end. Based on that, I pulled the trigger on the $250 for 18 player approach. I would have liked to have gone with only 17 players to upgrade a WR at the expense of having Taylor, so the lower player limit did make a difference for me. I do think the 25 player lineups have a good possibility to advance each week, but they will have to get very lucky to win in the end against the more concentrated teams that make it through. I picked starters that were on teams that weren't likely to have things wrapped up late in the season. Hopefully that helps in the end.

Only 253 teams have CJ3 and AD. Only 1 team has those two with Andre + the White/Ryan combo.

Bomb away people...

Jay Cutler $20 0.00

Carson Palmer $16 0.00

Derek Anderson $6 0.00

Wanted to dodge the masses at the highest scoring position. Cutler and Palmer will hang up huge weeks that will rival the studs. Wanted uniqueness and top end potential if I make it to the finals.

Ronnie Brown $19 0.00

C.J. Spiller $17 0.00

Arian Foster $13 0.00

Leon Washington $8 0.00

Joe McKnight $3 0.00

Went lean here. Rolled the dice on Brown producing like a top 10 back. Has the talent to do so. Spiller/Foster were musts based on value and thye number of people taking them. Hopefully they help nullify the RB position. McKnight; if you going with a back up, get one off the best rushing team. LT/Green aren't known for their durability. Dropped Thomas Jones in my final iteration to make room for Floyd.

Steve Smith $24 0.00

Malcom Floyd $17 0.00

Santonio Holmes $14 0.00

Pierre Garcon $12 0.00

Bernard Berrian $7 0.00

Laurent Robinson $7 0.00

Louis Murphy $4 0.00

Greg Camarillo $3 0.00

Had as many as 11 guys at times. Tons of value plays, but you'll need some studs down the stretch to win. Smith can be a top 5 WR and is being overlooked this year. Best value among the studs and clunker weeks can be covered by depth. Floyd was the best value WR2 on the board. Holmes was cheap roll of the dice for a stud later in the year. Garcon/Berrian/Robinson/Murphy will post plenty of scorable weeks. Depth and top end talent at the most variable position.

Jermichael Finley $21 0.00

Jason Witten $19 0.00

This format screams for your flex player to come from this position. Based on Dodds projections Witten scores 259 pts. Comparable RB; Brown/Addia are projected at 200 pts. More expensive WRs like Smith/Crabtree for $24 are projected to score 200 pts. The teams that do well in the contest will have stud production for this position.

Olindo Mare $2 0.00

Graham Gano $2 0.00

Matt Bryant $2 0.00

Rian Lindell $2 0.00

4 cheap kickers

Pittsburgh Steelers $6 0.00

Chicago Bears $4 0.00

Detroit Lions $2 0.00

Went for the teams projected to post the most sacks for the $. Went with teams with playmakers.

Early on I had numerous rosters with 28-30 players. Those rolling with 20 or less didn't learn much from last year. Settled out at 25 as I wanted to get WRs with the potential to seriously outscore the numerous $2-$8 value plays. The scatter gun approach will rule out over the long hual, but if you make it to the finals you'll need some elite numbers to separate you from the pack. You'll also need some elite numbers to take on the few stud based teams that actually manage to run the guanlet.

No real strategy outside of picking for value.

Tom Brady $24 0.00

Derek Anderson $6 0.00

I expect big things from Brady this year. I expect mediocre things from Anderson, but he's got upside as the guy who throws to Fitzgerald.

Adrian Peterson $38 0.00

Ray Rice $37 0.00

C.J. Spiller $17 0.00

I've never spent on top RBs before. This combo should be fairly unique, and explosive.

Roddy White $27 0.00

Terrell Owens $19 0.00

Lance Moore $8 0.00

Darrius Heyward-Bey $7 0.00

Louis Murphy $4 0.00

Deion Branch $3 0.00

Thin and mediocre. I am not looking for much from this group.

Jason Witten $19 0.00

Chris Cooley $13 0.00

Aaron Hernandez $5 0.00

Rob Gronkowski $3 0.00

The bonus points per reception and the flex position made this a high scoring position.

Rob Bironas $3 0.00

Graham Gano $2 0.00

Meh.

Philadelphia Eagles $6 0.00

San Diego Chargers $5 0.00

New Orleans Saints $4 0.00

Best mix of sacks, turnovers, and schedule I could find.

This is nothing like my normal teams. I'm not playing it safe at all. Brady, Peterson, Rice, White and Witten are all top notch players at their positions who I expect big things from this year. I tried to avoid the guys that everyone would have, so no Finley for me. Hopefully that pays off.

Yes, I could have. From a projections perspective, Miller is still better than my "WR's". Went with depth over elite in this case.

Philip Rivers $19

Joe Flacco $17

San Francisco 49ers $5

New Orleans Saints $4

Only 3 teams with the Rivers, Matthews, AJohnson, Dallas Clark combo. I hope I can survive week 10 (If i can make it that far)!

Tom Brady $24 0.00

Matthew Stafford $16 0.00

Derek Anderson $6 0.00

I'm really high on Brady this year. Probably his best WR/TE corps ever plus a weak defense makes me think he is poised for a great year. Plus I like the early bye week. Only 165 entries have the combo of Brady/Stafford.

Marion Barber $18 0.00

Ahmad Bradshaw $18 0.00

C.J. Spiller $17 0.00

Arian Foster $13 0.00

LaDainian Tomlinson $12 0.00

Tashard Choice $4 0.00

I like my depth at RB. Most of these guys should be among the most commonly owned RB's but that's fine. Keeping up with the pack at RB is not a bad thing.

Johnny Knox $18 0.00

Malcom Floyd $17 0.00

Pierre Garcon $12 0.00

Bernard Berrian $7 0.00

Laurent Robinson $7 0.00

Chris Chambers $7 0.00

Louis Murphy $4 0.00

Deion Branch $3 0.00

WR is the position I changed the most times. For a while I had 11 WR's, none over $12 but in the end I figured 8 is enough. Probably a lot of commonly owned players here as well.

Kellen Winslow $14 0.00

Heath Miller $13 0.00

Ben Watson $5 0.00

Along with QB, I think TE will be a key position this year. You want TE's who catch a lot of passes. For a long time I had Zach Miller but I didn't like the week 10 bye. Winslow was a buck cheaper, has a much more favorable bye and should provide very close to the same production. I love Heath Miller as well. Week 10 is going to be the most interesting week in this contest and, if I get that far, I think I should have a big advantage with Brady, Winslow at home against CAR and Miller at home against NE while all the Rodgers, Brees, Rivers, Finley, Gates and Z. Miller owners are struggling. Only 10 entries have the Winslow, H. Miller combo. That may mean my projections are way off but we'll see.

Ryan Succop $2 0.00

Sebastian Janikowski $2 0.00

Matt Bryant $2 0.00

Jason Hanson $2 0.00

New Orleans Saints $4 0.00

Tampa Bay Buccaneers $3 0.00

Tom Brady $24 0.00

Matt Ryan $16 0.00

Very complimentary schedule. Both should put up strong totals week in and week out. I like that stud has a bye week of 5 (early on) so odds of getting cut are slimmer.

DeAngelo Williams $28 0.00

Ronnie Brown $19 0.00

Ahmad Bradshaw $18 0.00

Arian Foster $13 0.00

Thomas Jones $7 0.00

I had tried to scrape up more cheap value here but in the end narrowed it down to some stable workhorses (williams/brown/jones) and some upside guys who could be huge (Bradshaw/Foster). Ronnie and Jones have early Bye week (5 & 4 respectively) and none of these guys have the same bye week so I should have at least 4 RB's going every week.

Hines Ward $21 0.00

Malcom Floyd $17 0.00

Jabar Gaffney $16 0.00

Pierre Garcon $12 0.00

Mike Williams $8 0.00

Harry Douglas $5 0.00

I've got a few gambles in here but didn't like the price/reward of stud WRs this year. Too many question marks with a lot of them. As usual my top guy has a early Bye (Ward - 5) and no two WRs have the same bye week maximizing my strength each week. Will need at least one of Gaffney/Floyd/Garcon to emerge big this year. Hoping for a couple big games out of Williams/Douglas.

Jason Witten $19 0.00

Chris Cooley $13 0.00

Rob Gronkowski $3 0.00

Witten is steady and has an early Bye (4).. Cooley should outperform that value, and Gronk is a huge value at $3. Should be NE's primary redzone TE. I didn't want to burn $8 and roster both he and hernandez.

Graham Gano $2 0.00

Matt Bryant $2 0.00

Rian Lindell $2 0.00

These guys kick the ball and don't have the same bye. Figured more is better with kickers.

Kansas City Chiefs $3 0.00

St. Louis Rams $2 0.00

Defensive scoring is weak (roughly 1-2 PPG difference between top and weak Defenses)... KC has an early bye. Blah. Whatever.

After 500 changes, this is what I ended up with....

Tom Brady $24 0.00

Matt Schaub $23 0.00

Steven Jackson $33 0.00

Cedric Benson $24 0.00

Arian Foster $13 0.00

Thomas Jones $7 0.00

Wes Welker $21 0.00

Pierre Garcon $12 0.00

Mike Williams $8 0.00

Bernard Berrian $7 0.00

Kevin Walter $7 0.00

Laurent Robinson $7 0.00

TE- Brent Celek $17

TE- Zach Miller $15

TE- Owen Daniels $13

K- Dan Carpenter $3

K- Ryan Succop $2

K- Sebastian Janikowski $2

D/ST- New Orleans $4

D/ST- Kansas City $3

Rivers $19

Roethlisberger $14

Rivers has an unbelievable easy schedule and is very underrated this year, and also has a week 10 bye which is really nice. Ben is a top ten QB once he gets back and I will set at QB.

Bradshaw $18

Spiller $17

Foster $13

Washington $8

Jones $7

Scott $6

Choice $4

Tolbert $1

No clear RB1 on the team but lots of upside guys here who catch the ball out of the backfield. None of my top 5 backs have the same bye week which is nice. I like Scott, Choice, Tolbert as solid depth picks in case of injuries and even if no injuries still might contribute with a TD here and there.

C. Johnson $27

Marshall $26

Garcon $12

Williams $8

Stroughter $4

Bess $4

Murphy $4

Branch $3

Camarillo $3

Sanders $2

Finneran $1

I have 4 solid WR that I am confident in each week with the 1 pt per reception I wanted to lock up Calvin and Marshall I have those guys in all most all my leagues expecting big years from both. Garcon I think will over take Wayne this year. Some other great starters to add some depth. Sanders and Finneran were added just in case.

Finley $21

Scheffler $7

Gronkowski $3

Damn shark pool made me pick Finley haha. Scheffler I think will be a Celek type bargain this year. Gronk will be a redzone target.

Bironas $3

Succop$2

Janikowski $2

Tried to grab guys that kick long FG's on teams that struggle in the redzone

49ers $5

Saints $4

Lions $2

Wanted 3 teams with different byes that had a little upside. Lions were just thrown in just in case.

So I spent my $250 on 30 players and am pretty happy with the outcome. I think my RB's are a little scary but after a few weeks things will settle down and I will be solid. After all I do have 8 RB's and only have to start 2 each week. The last 2 years I was booted in week 6 and then in week 7 - the goal is to make it to week 8 this year LOL.

Good Luck all!

I'd rather worry about my QB the week they cut 15% of entries rather than the week they cut 30% of entries.

You like Winslow at $14 better than Daniels for $13? :pickle:eta: Fasano at $7 over Heap at $7 I can't see that either.

Got in just under the wire. Wanted to get Ben in as a QB but didn't have the time to figure out adjustments elsewhere. I think 3 QBs and 3 TEs are a must. QBs get banged up quite easily, pair that up with a bye week and you are taking a goose egg and praying that week. The 1.5 ppr and flex option make the extra TE well worth it. A lot of the same value guys as other rosters, we'll see how uniqueness carries everyone thru.

You like Winslow at $14 better than Daniels for $13?
:shrug:And I thought I was doing so good this year since I finally kicked my habit of picking Todd Heap.Winslow was a good place to zag I thought - young QB will need his TE and they'll be stuck throwing a lot when they are behind. Also helps diversify my bye weeks a bit.My last move actually was to swap out:Schaub $23Ryan $16B Jackson $4 (I'm a little :D cuz I had him on basically every iteration until the last one)Shiancoe $12and instead put in:Rivers $19 (out of favor - sometimes you need to zag in this contest and his schedule is ridiculous. I only have 1 other week 10 bye with Janikowski)Stafford $16 (I really love him in this contest. He has the same bye as Schaub so I couldn't take 'em both)Scott $6 (As a Bengals fan I hope Benson rushes for like a million yards and this pick is wasted, but Scott still has a chance to put up respectable numbers when he spells Benson and if God forbid they have to turn to him full time he'll be a steal at this price)Winslow $14 (same bye as Shiancoe had with more upside) :scared: -QG

I've always had luck with a 21-23 man roster.

Eli Manning $19

Matt Ryan $16

Derek Anderson $6

I like this combo from the start in value. Eli and Matt have the same bye, and Anderson had good value at that spot. I just hope he makes it that far.

Jahvid Best $27

LeSean McCoy $26

Ahmad Bradshaw $18

Arian Foster $13

If I had to change anything it would be my RBs. I'm not sure what I was thinking, I should of added a 5th. The bye weeks are terrible with these guys. For two different weeks I'll be missing two of them. This will be my downfall. I thought the contest closed tonight and this was what I was going to tweak.

Hakeem Nicks $24

Anquan Boldin $24

Malcom Floyd $17

Bernard Berrian $7

Josh Morgan $6

Devery Henderson $4

Patrick Crayton $3

I like the value here, though I don't have any big studs.

Owen Daniels $13

Jermaine Gresham $6

I was toying with three TEs but couldn't make the money work.

Jay Feely $3 0.00

Billy Cundiff $3 0.00

Matt Bryant $2 0.00

New York Giants $5 0.00

San Diego Chargers $5 0.00

Kansas City Chiefs $3 0.00

I hate my Defenses. I always start off with the suggested defense by committee and the go on to change it, and it stuck this year.

I'm still itching to change this, but I'll never be satisfied. I don't like my team this year. We'll see.

This entry is still alive.

Surprised at the overall love for Fasano many are showing on their teams.

Someone tell me why Fasano at $7 made sense to you over Heap at $7?

2009

Heap 53-593-6 (16 games)

Fasano 31-339-2 (14 games)

I think heap is in a much better situation and most people think he is older than he is (He's only 30)

Just curious?

Wasn't originally planning on going with 30 players, but I ended up liking a lot of the lower-cost WRs. Ended with a dollar extra so threw it at Johnnie Lee.

Philip Rivers $19

Carson Palmer $16

Matt Cassel $13

DeAngelo Williams $28

Cadillac Williams $16

Clinton Portis $16

Arian Foster $13

Willis McGahee $8

Marshawn Lynch $4

Pierre Garcon $12

Mohamed Massaquoi $11

Mike Williams $8

Dexter McCluster $7

Bernard Berrian $7

Darrius Heyward-Bey $7

Laurent Robinson $7

Steve Johnson $4

Deion Branch $3

Johnnie Lee Higgins $1

Kellen Winslow $14

Heath Miller $13

Tony Moeaki $4

Dan Carpenter $3

Ryan Succop $2

Sebastian Janikowski $2

Rian Lindell $2

Cleveland Browns $3

Kansas City Chiefs $3

St. Louis Rams $2

Detroit Lions $2

Some RB selection stats

A Foster 8,276

Chris Johnson 1,849

Ray RIce 1,776

Frank Gore 1,767

Michael Turner 1,709

Peterson 1,283

MJ Drew 412

Mendenhall 400

S Jackson 247

Surprised that S Jax was so low

Heap has killed me in this contest many a time. Looks like Heap got decent love - over 1000 entries with him. He's also way injury prone.-QG
