question i have that we will find out soon is, is there anyone BOLD enough to pair up both Andre & Calvin Johnson. Very costly move and whats worst is they both have the same BYE.
The answer is surely yes - the Turk provides lots of nifty tools (hopefully he will again this year) for us to pour over the various interesting combinations that are out there. Still pulling for there to be at least 1 22-kicker guy entry. Will post mine tomorrow. Until then :) -QG

QB - Tom Brady - NE/5 - $24QB - Matt Ryan - ATL/8 - $16--> I tried teams with Rodgers, but I couldn't pull the trigger with any of the really cheap back ups. I had Schaub until I decided to carry Andre Johnson...at that point, I wanted to diversify and went to Brady.RB - DeAngelo Williams - CAR/6 - $28RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - NYG/8 - $18RB - Arian Foster - HOU/7 - $13RB - Leon Washington - SEA/5 - $8RB - Tashard Choice - DAL/4 - $4--> DWill looked like the only real value over $25. I toyed with Stephen Jackson to go against the grain, but I ultimately decided that Bradshaw and Foster would suffice for the RB2 spot. I anticipate TE covering flex most weeks, and I used the RB spot to create more flex depth. Between RB and TE I have 6 different bye weeks, and Choice/Witten are the only ones that match.WR - Andre Johnson - HOU/7 - $32WR - Santana Moss - WAS/9 - $18WR - Mike Williams - TB/4 - $8WR - Bernard Berrian - MIN/4 - $7WR - Laurent Robinson - STL/9 - $7WR - Louis Murphy - OAK/10 - $4WR - Deion Branch - SEA/5 - $3--> I think Andre will be a fairly low % play. I liked some of the $27 guys, but at that price, I thought I should just go to the #1 guy. I looked at Garcon and Dez Bryant for the #2 spot, but finally decided to use 7 WR instead of 8 to upgrade to Santana Moss. He isn't that sexy of a pick, but I just want solid production that can cover up for any stinkers from my low priced group. Douglas and Hartline were late cuts (to go up to Moss and add K depth). TE - Jermichael Finley - GB/10 - $21TE - Jason Witten - DAL/4 - $19--> This is the key to the team. Finley will be high %, but Witten is almost as good of a value with the 1.5 ppr scoring. I expect Witten to flex most weeks (with Bradshaw/Foster potentially taking a few). The FBG projections would put Witten on par with Roddy White. He could lose a few TD from the projection (7 TD) and still be an excellant value. PK - Neil Rackers - HOU/7 - $4PK - Dan Carpenter - MIA/5 - $3PK - Sebastian Janikowski - OAK/10 - $2PK - Graham Gano - WAS/9 - $2--> not much to see here. 4 different bye weeks.TD - Chicago Bears - CHI/8 - $4TD - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - TB/4 - $3TD - Detroit Lions - DET/7 - $2--> not much to see here either. Defense is a very low scoring position, so I wanted to keep it under $10 total. I like the Bears D this year, and I seem to get them in every league that doesn't have points against as a consideration. The contest was awesome again this year...I plan for it more than most of my drafts. Great job by the staff on the prices!
Dude....our teams are only about 3 fringe players different....in all the year's I've been doing this, this is about the closest thing to a repeated team I've seen. Kinda scary, but hopefully we see each other in the finals!
I think there will be a lot of very similar teams this year... ironically the change in player pricing has magnified the few bargains and steered everyone toward them, so there will be huge % owned common players this year - much more than in the past I predict. If most of those players stay healthy and perform as expected, we'll see essentially 250 clones in the final. If there are injuries and poor performances amongst those players, the unique teams will do very well this year. This could be the year where somewhat of a stud approach pays off for a change.

It's not locked yet, but I don't care. Posting anyway so I can catch some zzz's without debating over picks.

I feel the best value is in the 23-25 man roster range, although I went slightly over that with 26 picks due to fears over depth. Hoping for a somewhat unique combination after reading over the lists already posted here, but looks like a lot of people headed in the same basic direction.

QB - Tony Romo - DAL/4 - $26

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - PIT/5 - $14

QB - Matt Moore - CAR/6 - $10

Obviously week 4 is a huge risk, but with it being early in the season and Moore having Smith to throw to, I'm hopeful to survive. We've certainly seen teams survive the early cuts with no QB contribution at all in the past. I'm a fan of two higher-end QBs and three overall QBs. The week 4 situation is definitely a gamble, but I think manageable. Week 6 onward I feel this position will be a strength with Big Ben's contributions, and hopefully a high uniqueness. Moore's cost hurts, especially compared the to the $1 QBs of past years and severely downgraded my options at RB. I'm not a believer in a $6 Anderson, although I imagine he'll be on many rosters. 11.5% of roster spots, and 20% of salary for one of the higher scoring positions in the contest.

RB - Ronnie Brown - MIA/5 - $19

RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - NYG/8 - $18

RB - Arian Foster - HOU/7 - $13

RB - Fred Taylor - NE/5 - $6

RB - Bernard Scott - CIN/6 - $6

RB - Mike Bell - PHI/8 - $5

For the longest time, I had DeAngelo in this lineup, sans Bell and Brown, in what looks to be a common DWill/Bradshaw/Foster combo. However, fears over depth and DWill's shared bye with T.O. (week 6), led me to drop DWill for Ronnie. The injury history scares me, and I almost went with Barber but felt that would overload week 4 byes. Also, outside of the studs, I felt there were ample RBs that project to a fairly narrow range of points and the value simply wasn't there to go for a top 10 guy. RBs simply don't score as much in this contest, and I felt depth for injuries outweighed a $10 cost for 30-40 more points spread over the course of the season. The byes here work nicely, but this is easily my weakest position. I tried to keep RB as cheap as possible, noting (without much study) that it seems the position doesn't seem to be the deciding factor for past winners. Even with 6 RBs, my hunch is that I'll regret not drafting more. An injury obviously knocks me out. 23% of roster, 26.8% of salary.

WR - Andre Johnson - HOU/7 - $32

WR - Terrell Owens - CIN/6 - $19

WR - Jason Avant - PHI/8 - $4

WR - Louis Murphy - OAK/10 - $4

WR - Devery Henderson - NO/10 - $4

WR - Deion Branch - SEA/5 - $3

WR - Greg Camarillo - MIN/4 - $3

I've heard plenty of people go the all-cheap route on WR, but I think the studs here score better than RBs. Andre, in particular, projects to lead all players in points scored, and at a much more reasonable price than RBs CJ or Peterson. And what other combination would outproduce him at $32? Two at $16ish (Gaffney, Driver) I didn't think would cut it. $12 + $20 range players were interesting, but too many question marks around Garcon, Welker, etc. A $24 +$7ish combo was the most tempting, but the bye weeks of the players I liked fell too often in weeks 4, 6, or 8 when I already had "studs" on bye. I'm going to guess that many solid teams hit the $24 and $7 WR ranges heavily - they felt like value points - and in retrospect, I worry about depth here and would probably go with a cheaper option and upgrade at RB rather than Johnson.

The hope, of course, is that TO plays as I expect and someone from the motley crew steps up as a WR3 each week. There were tons of guys in the $7-$11 I preferred over the cheap options, but just couldn't make it work - ended up with a two studs and depth for best ball WR3 approach. I worry here about missing value in the $7-$11 range and 'wasting' $$ on the higher priced TO and Johnson. Obviously, weeks 6 and 7 are weak, an week 10 could be rough for WR3 points, but with the caliber of players on bye that week, I'm fine with scrub WRs, K, and D on bye while others are out the bigger name NO, SD, and GB players. 26.9% of roster, 27.6% of salary.

TE - Jason Witten - DAL/4 - $19

TE - Tony Gonzalez - ATL/8 - $19

TE - Aaron Hernandez - NE/5 - $5

Here are the money makers. I almost went with uber-god Finley here, but I didn't like the lack of history, the hype machine, the week 10 bye, defenses having time to scheme for him, and the hunch that many entries will include him. I thought Gonzo would prove to be a somewhat more unique pick. Also, Witten and Gonzo certainly have weather in their favor. This is clearly where I hope to find my flex scoring and the prices were very attractive, comparing favorably to both WRs and RBs. Hernandez is an upside pick that hopefully will fill a high reception role and perhaps be a good flex play. Debated until the end on Hernandez vs upgrading to a $7-$8 WR, but just thought his upside was better than any of the WRs with this scoring. Looks like people using Finley/Witten will be counting on the DWill/Bradshaw/Foster combo for flex play in week 10 - I'm hoping Hernandez can help cover what is my week 8 bye with Gonzo and Bradshaw. $7 Scheffler was also very tempting. 11.5% of roster, 17.2% of salary.

PK - Rob Bironas - TEN/9 - $3

PK - Sebastian Janikowski - OAK/10 - $2

PK - Olindo Mare - SEA/5 - $2

PK - Matt Bryant - ATL/8 - $2

Cheap and numerous. That's really all there is to say here. Tried for guys with the best upside/job security and good bye weeks. 15.4% of roster, 3.6% of salary.

TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/9 - $5

TD - New Orleans Saints - NO/10 - $4

TD - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - TB/4 - $3

Wanted a fourth D, couldn't make it fit. 11.5% of roster, 4.8% of salary.

Best luck everyone. Certainly don't expect to win, but I love this game. Well done FBG, definitely a big challenge this year.

Arian Foster has to be the most selected player this year. At $13, you almost have to be a fool, no disrespect intended, not to select him.

I've spent entirely too much time on this in the past only to lose out around week 9. This year, 20 minutes and done! It'll probably show in my result as I didn't even look at BYEs.

Tell me where I went wrong. TIA

QB - Matthew Stafford - DET/7 - $16

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - PIT/5 - $14

QB - Kyle Orton - DEN/9 - $12

QB - Derek Anderson - ARI/6 - $6

RB - Matt Forte - CHI/8 - $20

RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - NYG/8 - $18

RB - C.J. Spiller - BUF/6 - $17

RB - Arian Foster - HOU/7 - $13

RB - Leon Washington - SEA/5 - $8

WR - Michael Crabtree - SF/9 - $22

WR - Malcom Floyd - SD/10 - $17

WR - Pierre Garcon - IND/7 - $12

WR - Mohamed Massaquoi - CLE/8 - $11

WR - Mike Williams - TB/4 - $8

WR - Louis Murphy - OAK/10 - $4

WR - Greg Camarillo - MIN/4 - $3

TE - Kellen Winslow - TB/4 - $14

TE - Chris Cooley - WAS/9 - $13

TE - Tony Scheffler - DET/7 - $7

PK - Sebastian Janikowski - OAK/10 - $2

PK - Matt Bryant - ATL/8 - $2

PK - Jason Hanson - DET/7 - $2

TD - New Orleans Saints - NO/10 - $4

TD - Seattle Seahawks - SEA/5 - $3

TD - Detroit Lions - DET/7 - $2

Total value: 250

I love following this contest. Didn't want it to consume me this year. :)

Here are my RBs:

RB - Matt Forte - 20

RB - Jerome Harrison - 18

RB - C.J. Spiller - 17

RB - Arian Foster - 13

RB - Donald Brown - 11

RB - Bernard Scott - 6

RB - Mike Tolbert - 1

I kept going back and forth between Bradshaw and Spiller. Tolbert for $1, was hard to pass up also.

Im done changing.

Brady .............24

Schaub............23

Spent a large chunk of change here. I want stable, reliable scoring, and I'd like the bye impact to be over sooner than later. I toyed a lot w/ having Romo/Flacco and Schaub/Flacco, but never had the comfort level I do w/these two. Also think I might get some solid differentiation here from other teams.

R. Bush............22

Bradshaw.........18

Spiller..............17

Foster..............13

B. Scott.............6

Reggie was my big splurge. Did it for couple of reasons. 1. I dont expect as much redundancy w/this pick 2. I think he has solid upside, even at this price.

I expect a large percentage will have Bradshaw (prob 60%). Spiller's bye week (6) worked well, and his price was lower than F Jackson, and I expect he will get a bit more touches. Im not sure what his ownership % will be, but I'm sure it's lower than Bradshaw. Foster is a must have at this price. I expect 95+ % ownership. Call it "Keeping up w/the Joneses." Scott is my one flyer. Uber talent. Hope he gets a couple of starts. No handcuffs here. It's too cost prohibitive IMO.

J. Knox...............18

J. Gaffney...........16

J. Jones(HOU)......10

M. Williams(TAM)...8

J. Jones(GNB).......7

D. McCluster.........7

L. Naanee.............7

Playing low ball potpourri here. Really would have liked an 8th receiver. I like this motley bunch, but am not sold on them either. I could never find a way to spend for one of the big guns. Every iteration I tried w/ a big gun (24+ cost) left me w/ too much exposure in other area's. If any area is going to be my downfall in the contest, this will be it.

J. Finley...............21

C. Cooley............13

At 1.5 ppr, it's a given IMO, that u need to spend to acquire quality here. God I wish Z. Miller and Finley didnt share the same bye week  I went thru iterations using Cooley, Z. Miller, and Daniels. Ultimately, was just spending too much here and had to pare down. Also toyed w/ a TE handcuff of Gronkowski and Hernandez to go along with Finley, but was too worried they would cancel each other out more often than not. I think Finley is prob owned by 80%+. It looks as though, Cooley is paired w/him a lot as well, so again, it might just be redundancy at work. In the end, have drank way too much Finley koolaid  I had to have him on the roster.

N. Folk................4

R. Bironas...........3

S. Janikowski.......2

M. Bryant............2

4 PK's give u solid chance of quality score every week. No duplicate bye's. And it spreads out the exposure to late season inclement weather risk.

San Francisco......5

Oakland..............4

Even though Im a Niner fan and bay area local. I truly do believe they will have a top 3 D output this year. The soft sched is a huge assist. And even though I hate the Raiders (I take that back, I hate Al Davis), I do believe they are gonna suprise some folks this year.

So, there is my 22, for better or worse.

QB - Matt Schaub - HOU/7 - $23

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - PIT/5 - $14

Think this will be a pretty common QB pairing, but seemed like the best chance to have two guys in top 5 during the stretch run.

RB - Reggie Bush - NO/10 - $22

RB - C.J. Spiller - BUF/6 - $17

RB - Tim Hightower - ARI/6 - $13

RB - Arian Foster - HOU/7 - $13

I'm thin at RB and definitely gambling on Hightower, but I think the other 3 are solid enough to give me a steady combo with hopefully one or two of them blowing up in weeks 14-16.

WR - Roddy White - ATL/8 - $27

WR - Wes Welker - NE/5 - $21

WR - Santana Moss - WAS/9 - $18

WR - Dez Bryant - DAL/4 - $13

WR - Louis Murphy - OAK/10 - $4

Spent some $$ here, but like the idea of having 4-5 solid contributors every week.

TE - Jermichael Finley - GB/10 - $21

TE - Heath Miller - PIT/5 - $13

TE - Aaron Hernandez - NE/5 - $5

Finley and Hernandez will be very common, but I haven't seen much of Miller...hope he goes off in the later weeks with Big Ben.

PK - Neil Rackers - HOU/7 - $4

PK - Rob Bironas - TEN/9 - $3

PK - Sebastian Janikowski - OAK/10 - $2

PK - Jason Hanson - DET/7 - $2

Liked these 4 from about the first time I set a team.

TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/9 - $5

TD - Oakland Raiders - OAK/10 - $4

TD - New England Patriots - NE/5 - $4

TD - Detroit Lions - DET/7 - $2

I've seen these four a lot in this thread.

Not sure how unique a team it is. I've gambled at RB, but you have to get lucky to win it all and I think I've got a lot of boom/bust types.

QB - Tom Brady - NE/5 - $24

QB - Derek Anderson - ARI/6 - $6

QB - Michael Vick - PHI/8 - $3

I am obviously banking on Brady here. I like the early Bye week while Derek is still starting (against NO) and I think Vick could factor with a rogue Rushing TD or starting for an infective Kolb possibly.

RB - DeAngelo Williams - CAR/6 - $28

RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - NYG/8 - $18

RB - Arian Foster - HOU/7 - $13

RB - Willis McGahee - BAL/8 - $8

RB - Bernard Scott - CIN/6 - $6

RB - Brandon Jackson - GB/10 - $4

RB - Mike Tolbert - SD/10 - $1

Really struggled with these ones. I had Rice or Jones-Drew in until the last minute but I didn't like how that set up the rest of my team and having a stud RB with a late bye didn't sit well with me either, so I fell back on DeAngelo who I think is the only one in this price range who has a realistic shot at being the #1 RB (not saying that's going to happen). The rest are all value plays.

WR - Andre Johnson - HOU/7 - $32

WR - Roddy White - ATL/8 - $27

WR - Dexter McCluster - KC/4 - $7

WR - Legedu Naanee - SD/10 - $7

WR - Julian Edelman - NE/5 - $5

WR - Deion Branch - SEA/5 - $3

WR - Brandon Gibson - STL/9 - $3

WR - Patrick Crayton - SD/10 - $3

2 Studs and quantity here. I have no idea how this will play out but I wanted AJ and Roddy. The other 6 are a crapshoot.

TE - Brent Celek - PHI/8 - $17

TE - Zach Miller - OAK/10 - $15

TE - Rob Gronkowski - NE/5 - $3

I really like Zack Miller and Celek as a combo although I didn't like spending this much on TE's.

PK - Sebastian Janikowski - OAK/10 - $2

PK - Olindo Mare - SEA/5 - $2

PK - Matt Bryant - ATL/8 - $2

PK - Jason Hanson - DET/7 - $2

As many $2 guys as I could afford. The scoring is so sporadic for kickers you have to have a handful.

TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/9 - $5

TD - Oakland Raiders - OAK/10 - $4

I like these two teams schedule although I don't care much for the DEF scoring in this format. I stole this idea from a thread here in the sharkpool.

I will crush my enemies, see them driven before me, hear the lamentations of their women ...

QB - Drew Brees - $28: the best QB in the NFL is so worth $28

QB - Matthew Stafford - $16: nice back-up to Brees, high ceiling, could be primed for a big year

QB - Tim Tebow - $3: I don't care how good Orton looks in preseason; Tebow somehow gets a shot this year

RB - Adrian Peterson - $38: best offensive player in the NFL is ready for record-breaking season

RB - Cedric Benson - $24: I love how people are underestimating this workhorse

RB - C.J. Spiller - $17: my eyes say he is a stud

RB - Arian Foster - $13: I'm on the bandwagon with everyone else

RB - Tashard Choice - $4: could start for most teams

WR - Andre Johnson - $32: best WR in the NFL

WR - Mike Williams - $8: I hope the hype is real

WR - Brian Robiskie - $5: poised for a breakout with Delhomme

WR - Harry Douglas - $5: shhhhh!

WR - Davone Bess - $4: Henne's underneath guy

WR - Louis Murphy - $4: the #1 WR in Oaktown for the price of a beer

WR - Jordan Shipley - $3: hasn't dropped a pass since he was 6 years old

WR - Mark Clayton - $3: the trade to STL jump-starts his career.

WR - Justin Gage - $2: because it's just $2 and Kenny Britt sucks

TE - Zach Miller - $15: will catch a ton of passes in 2010

TE - Dustin Keller - $9: this is called value

TE - Rob Gronkowski - $3: huge upside for $3

TE - Desmond Clark - $2: will outscore Greg Olsen in FF points this year

PK - Sebastian Janikowski - $2: love me some Sea Bass!

PK - Graham Gano - $2: should have plenty of opportunities

PK - Matt Bryant - $2: ATL offense poised to explode

TD - New Orleans Saints - $4: NO D won't be overshadowed by offense this year

TD - Detroit Lions - $2: Watch out for that boy named Suh!

QB - Drew Brees - 28

QB - Kyle Orton - 12

I went with Brees to try to be more unique. I think most people will pick up Rodgers for one more dollar if they are going to go with a week 10 bye. I like Orton this year....it's a hunch. I also liked him for 12 dollars. Plays KC week 10. Probably should have picked a third, but I decided to gamble.

RB - Adrian Peterson - 38

RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - 18

RB - Arian Foster - 13

RB - Brandon Jackson - 4

RB - Rashad Jennings - 3

I liked Peterson's week 4 bye. I think he is going to be the number 1 RB. I paid a lot so this is a huge risk. Don't get hurt big guy. I think he will also be unique. Bradshaw and Foster are both good value at their price point (I'm sure everyone else agrees and picked them as well). Hoping Jackson and Jennings get some playing time this year. Lots of smoke around MJD and an injury....maybe there actually is a fire and Jennings gets a lot of playing time. Cut Hightower at the last minute....kind of wish I didn't. I have a feeling I'm going to need him.

WR - Jabar Gaffney - 16

WR - Pierre Garcon - 12

WR - Jacoby Jones - 10

WR - Mike Williams - 8

WR - Dexter McCluster - 7

WR - Harry Douglas - 5

WR - Louis Murphy - 4

WR - Devery Henderson - 4

WR - Greg Camarillo - 3

WR - Patrick Crayton - 3

WR - Mark Clayton - 3

Went with high number of darts and hope 3 stick each week. I'm high on Orton, so I have to be high on his number one WR. I think he is going to have a good year with many catches. Most of the other WRs are very common with most people with some variation. I was tempted to drop down to 8 WR to pick up Hightower, but felt without any studs I had to have a lot of darts to throw....after all, I feel like I'm throwing them with a blindfold on.

TE - Jermichael Finley - 21

TE - Visanthe Shiancoe - 12

TE - Aaron Hernandez - 5

Yes, sign me up for some Finley....and Hernandez. Then fill in with a middle of the pack TE. Lets go Shiancoe! I think with all the questions at WR in Minnesota this year, he is in line to get a lot of looks.

PK - Dan Carpenter - 3

PK - Mike Nugent - 3

PK - Graham Gano - 2

PK - Matt Bryant - 2

4 cheap kickers, different bye weeks, in pretty good offenses....but not elite offenses.

TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - 6

TD - San Francisco 49ers - 5

I think the 49ers are going to be a popular pick. Went with the Steelers to be unique and I think they will get a lot of turnovers and sacks.

27 players 250 dollars spent.....and after that write up, I feel like I want to tweak my roster again.....but alas, it is to late.

Here's my final team. I've changed it 4 times tonight alone.

QB- Tom Brady NE/5 $24

QB - Derek Anderson - ARI/6 - $6

Anderson is very good value even though he sucks, he should keep his job for at least the first half of the year.

RB - DeAngelo Williams - CAR/6 - $28

RB - Jahvid Best - DET/7 - $27

RB - Clinton Portis - WAS/9 - $16

RB - Arian Foster - HOU/7 - $13

RB - Tashard Choice - DAL/4 - $4

I messed with my RB's alot but finally like this group. I thought Portis was pretty good value and when Barber and F. Jones get hurt, I have Choice to cover. I had Scott in there for a long time but I sacrificed him to get better TE's.

WR - Miles Austin - DAL/4 - $27

WR - Hakeem Nicks - NYG/8 - $24

WR - Pierre Garcon - IND/7 - $12

WR - Mike Williams - TB/4 - $8

WR - Legedu Naanee - SD/10 - $7

WR - Mark Clayton - STL/9 - $3

I had 7 WR's through most of my teams but decided to give up one to get a better TE to go with Finley.

TE - Jermichael Finley - GB/10 - $21

TE - Chris Cooley-WAS/9-$13

TE-Rob Gronkowski-NE/5-#3

I wanted to very good TE's due to the 1.5 ppr. I'm also thinking most weeks my flex will be a TE.

PK - Ryan Succop - KC/4 - $2

PK - Sebastian Janikowski - OAK/10 - $2

PK - Phil Dawson - CLE/8 - $2

I just wanted 3 K's didn't really care who to much.

TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/9 - $5

TD - Cleveland Browns - CLE/8 - $3

Total value: 250

The 49ers play in a god awful division so they should be ok. The Browns defense isn't as bad as most people think.

I think my RB's are going to be my worry. They are mostly boom or bust RB's, if just one of Foster or Best lives up to thier hype, I'll be ok.

Ironically, I think the first team I picked was my favorite, unfortunately, I didn't print it out or anything so I couldn't choose those players again.

Not locked yet?

Then I'm not posting the winning roster yet. Will do so tonight when I return from work.

You're all playing for second, chumps.

This contest is a lot of fun. On the other hand, with so many entrants and so few prizes of real significance, you have to remember that your expected value is extremely slim. I didn't spend much time thinking about my team, but I tried to put together a competitive squad that could conceivably make a deep run.

QB - Philip Rivers - SD/10 - $19

QB - Chad Henne - MIA/5 - $14

Two starters with good job security and big game potential. Henne is a bit of a gamble here, but if he pays off then it should give me a nice edge. I avoided Derek Anderson because I have very little faith in his abilities. You can't afford to waste $6 in this contest.

RB - Jahvid Best - DET/7 - $27

RB - Felix Jones - DAL/4 - $21

RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - NYG/8 - $18

RB - C.J. Spiller - BUF/6 - $17

RB - Arian Foster - HOU/7 - $13

No surefire stars, but I've got five guys who could conceivably go for 100 yards and a TD in any given week. Bradshaw, Spiller, and Foster were outrageous values and I expect to see them on a ton of rosters. I opted for quantity over sheer quality. In a best ball league, I'd rather have five good options than two great ones. The depth should allow me to survive down weeks from my top 2-3 guys.

WR - Michael Crabtree - SF/9 - $22

WR - Dez Bryant - DAL/4 - $13

WR - Pierre Garcon - IND/7 - $12

WR - Mike Williams - TB/4 - $8

WR - Dexter McCluster - KC/4 - $7

WR - Davone Bess - MIA/5 - $4

WR - Louis Murphy - OAK/10 - $4

WR - Devery Henderson - NO/10 - $4

WR - Mark Clayton - STL/9 - $3

Value, value, value. There were some great options at WR this year. Crabtree as WR20 was a nice buy. Bryant, Garcon, and Williams were available for a price that was well below what their talent/opportunity combination warrants. The same is true for Santonio Holmes, who was criminally underpriced as WR41, but I couldn't find a way to fit him in. No worries. Henderson, Clayton, Murphy, Bess, and McCluster will be weekly contributors for their teams. To get them for such low prices was nice. I have always done very well with a quantity > quality philosophy in best ball leagues. I think this group of 9 viable options will combine to give me solid production for 3-4 starting spots.

TE - Jermichael Finley - GB/10 - $21

TE - Dustin Keller - NYJ/7 - $9

When you consider the 1.5 PPR and the relative cost of Finley compared to the elite WRs, there's really no reason why he shouldn't be on a huge percentage of the rosters. He was a great value here. Ditto Keller, who should be an excellent backup with top 10 upside. I also liked Gresham at $6 and thought about finding a way to fit him in, but ultimately decided to spend the money at WR instead. An injury here could be devastating.

PK - Olindo Mare - SEA/5 - $2

PK - Phil Dawson - CLE/8 - $2

PK - Rian Lindell - BUF/6 - $2

I decided to go with three kickers for an extra boost. These three are veterans with proven talent, good job security, and non-conflicting byes. They were all nice options at a modest cost of just $2.

TD - Seattle Seahawks - SEA/5 - $3

TD - Jacksonville Jaguars - JAX/9 - $3

TD - Detroit Lions - DET/7 - $2

Three cheap defenses that should combine to give me at least one good score every week. Jacksonville and Seattle are usually competitive. I'm convinced that Detroit is on the cusp of respectability. With INT machines Favre and Cutler in the division, I think the Lions might be a steal at just $2.

OVERALL - Solid depth across the board should give me a good chance of making a deep run. I think I successfully identified many players who will outperform their cost. Now it's just a matter of getting insanely lucky because that's the only way to win this lottery.

:) I was in the process of adding Finley when the entry closed.

QB - Tony Romo - 26

QB - Chad Henne - 14

QB - Derek Anderson - 6

- $46/3 total, more than I had intended to spend but I think worth it. Romo has as good a chance as anyone to be the top QB this year. I like Henne's upside with Marshall in town and I don't care if it were my grandmother, I'd buy the QB throwing to Fitz for $6 any day. Barring injuries I only need DA to keep the job through week 5.

RB - DeAngelo Williams - 28

RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - 18

RB - Arian Foster - 13

RB - Javon Ringer - 5

RB - Tashard Choice - 4

- $68/5, perhaps not much for depth here but if CJ were to be injured Ringer becomes a huge value. No shared byes helps 5 be okay. Choice is one of the few who was included my first time through and never taken out.

WR - Randy Moss - 29

WR - Percy Harvin - 24

WR - Pierre Garcon - 12

WR - Dexter McCluster - 7

WR - Harry Douglas - 5

WR - Deon Butler - 4

WR - Emmanuel Sanders - 2

- $83/7 added Moss in the last go-round and took out Crabtree and Lance Moore. Just didn't like the lack of experience throughout and Moss could have a huge year. At one point I had Garcon/Gonzo/Collie and I liked what it did but if the Colts rest their starters, that would spell trouble. I'm not sure if Sanders adds much but I think he could have some big weeks. McCluster is another of the guys I never didn't have in, could be this year's Harvin.

TE - Zach Miller - 15

TE - Heath Miller - 13

TE - Aaron Hernandez - 5

- $33/3, it's MILLER TIME! Like I said above, I tried to replace Zach Miller with Finley at the last minute, by taking out Anderson. This might work better, we'll see. Had Cook in and out throughout for Hernandez, had to decide between Hernandez and Sanders or Cook. Not loving the shared week 5 bye, but at least my top dog plays that week.

PK - David Buehler - 4

PK - Dan Carpenter - 3

PK - Graham Gano - 2

- $9/3, wanted 3 kickers, didn't spend too much time thinking about these except I had Bironas and Janikowski in for awhile.

TD - Oakland Raiders - 4

TD - Chicago Bears - 4

TD - Cleveland Browns - 3

- $11/3, wanted 3 relatively cheap defenses. I think Chicago can score big some weeks as I like Peppers and the return game is always a plus. by my count, Oakland only plays 4 good offenses and 2 of those may not have their top WR.

OVERALL: studs at QB, RB, and WR, two TEs who IMO were excellent values (although I curse myself for not being faster to submit the Miller/DA to Finley switch), solid depth. I think a lot of entries will have Henne, Bradshaw, Foster, Choice, McCluster and Butler - or at least they should. :moneybag:
