Surprise picks in your guppie leagues (1 Viewer)

10 team PPR League, 15 yr old league.

Today... 1.05 Shonn Greene, 3 QBs in the 1st round, 2.02 Ryan Mathews, 2.04 Knowshon Moreno, 3.01 Brett Favre(2nd pitcher of beer)

Joe Flacco pick 24, Steve Slaton pick 32, Derrick Mason pick 33

My other league was surprisingly guppy-pick free, first real head scratcher wasn't until pick 62 - Anthony Gonzalez

More and more qbs are throwing for 4000+ yards, but not so many you can wait until the later rounds. I'm not so sure taking one early is as much of a guppy move as some think it is. Maybe the guppy is going RB RB RB WR TE QB :moneybag:

Moss fell to me at 2.7 and fitz was still there at 3.3 in a 10 man. First 5 picks ended up being mjd, moss, fitz, ochocinco, jahvid best with a favre pick in the 7th.

Guys who take 3 RB's to start a draft are probably guppies, but so are guys that take Flacco in the top 30 unless it's a start 2 QB league.

10 team 4 keeper half the guys know what their doing, the other half :excited: All buddies but 100 entry

one guy:

1.5 Dez Bryant

2.2 LaDainian Tomlinson

9.5 Victor Cruz

13.5 Maurice Morris

22.6 Kurt Warner....we change it to Jason Campbell for him

I laughed pretty hard yesterday at the guy in my league who took the Jets D in the 5th (before he had any WRs) and defended his decision based on "you fantasy nerds can do whatever you want"

Similar situation in mine, at 17/18 turn, the #1pick took Vick and Pat White ;) in the dark, 10 picks before it got to him. We explained politely that Pat White was cut and changed the pick to........................................................Tebow.

29.06 Keenan Burton (I could see him as a WR10 or lower, but guy took him for WR8.)

32.03 Joey Haynos (I actually see Haynos starting in most 3 TE leagues, based on the draft history of this league I just didn't have him projected to be picked until the 37th round or so.)

46.12 Vinny Ciurciu  Enough said.

I don't understand.
neither do I. but i've known this guy for years and he's not gonna listen to any stats or logic based argument on the matter so I just laughed it off. I'll let him enjoy Percy Harvin has his #1 WR.

Is this a start 2 qb league? Never seen anyone go QB-Qb before....

Nope, start 1QB, any combination of 5 RB, TE, WR(at least 1 RB), 1 PK, 1 OLine and 11 defensive guys with a roster size of 38 total.

I went with a friend of mine to a local sports bar where they were holding drafts. I was not drafting, but thought it would be interesting to see how it went. The league drafting next to my friends league, the guy with the #11 pick walks up and takes Terrell Owens. He is promptly told how good of a pick that is by a few others in the league.

1.01 - MJD

1.05 - D.Williams

2.04 - T.Owens (ahead of Moss)

4.03 - C.Palmer

Maroney (NE) at 4.02 by the Pats homer LOL

Brees at 1.08 and that same owner took Farve at 5.08. Start 1 QB league.

We had a bit of crazy stuff happen in our draft. A bunch of reaching and a ton of slipping. The AJ owner got Turner in the 2nd round. It's .5/1/1.5 PPR but still I couldn't believe it.

Shonne Green dropped to the 5th.

JCharles in the 6th.

Just a 12 team fun league with $100 league fees...

As funny as it sounds, this team could be decent with some work. You'd obviously be starting in a hole, but with some good trades, and some luck on the waiver wire, this team could compete.

Reminds me of something similar that happened in my league last year. Keep two league with keepers counting as first and second round picks. Start one QB. This guy keeps Aaron Rodgers and then in the third round takes Peyton Manning. We all kind of snickered at him and he responded that Manning or Rodgers would make good trade bait. We all snickered even more when he missed the playoffs by one game and NEVER traded either of the QB's (and never really even entertained offers).

10 team ppr

3.02 Farve

same owner also drafts Derrick Ward & Sammy Morris

one owner

5.04 Sanchez

6.07 Britt

7.04 Young

*** SPOILER ALERT! Click this link to display the potential spoiler text in this box. ***");document.close();If you lost count, that's 12 Saints and 17 rookies. There's also a few ex Saints and guys who played college in Louisiana or nearby. :drive:

12-team auction keeper, 15 players, $400 cap, $10 min. Scoring is TD-only (FG/XP for kickers).

$20 for GB defense, $18 for SF defense - you only get points for defensive TDs. Nothing for sacks or turnovers.

$36 for Rob Bironas and $22 for Garret Hartley - SAME TEAM (that's ~15% of his cap on 2 kickers!)

Maybe they get big bonus points for catches made in the state of Ohio. Did any Browns receivers go unusually high? Wait, do the Browns even have receivers?

One guy's team in a $250 league I'm in:

1.05: Turner

2: Brady

3: Sidney Rice

4: Forte

5: MSW

6: Z Miller (OAK)

7: V Jackson

8: F Jackson

9: 9ers D

10: Collie

11: Walter

12: K Smith

13: Tynes

14: McKnight

15: Hass

16: Westbrook

It's a veritable Who's Who of people who won't see the playing field...

Another guy took Flacco in the 3rd.

:football: Says the team without a legitimate WR or RB.. Probably in same boat as us in QB dept..

A rule of thumb for me is never to draft with the intent of being able to trade for value later on.Trades just don't seems to ever happen in our leagues. The only league i've ever been in where trades occur is one in which all the participants are either in the same office or same school and get to see each other every day (or most days) at lunch and stuff.Fun times when my league was in school and trades were made over lunch all the time.
