Survivor Season 42: Starts Wednesday March 9, 2022 (1 Viewer)

I never really noticed the music being louder than dialog. I did notice volume was all over the place. Possibly try different link or delete and reinstall app. I used firesticktricks I believe.

With Paramount + you get a free month. Which is enough to binge what they have.. Bad thing is it is not offering 1st 2 or 3 seasons it was on. First season not quite as good as the rest, but that final challenge was epic. I don't think there has ever been a tougher challenge on anything on television before or since.

It's only this show and there aren't many links to choose from.

But reading other complaints online, it seems it's a thing with Australian tv - overly dramatic and loud music that often doesn't seem to match what's going on.

I'm only 3 episodes in but it's tough for me to take. The music in the American version is often pretty silly, but it seems reserved in comparison.

Watching the last season of Aussie Survivor right now.  They have such better twists than the American version.  It's not even close.

Yes, sorry. The US one that just ended.
5. The problem with it was that the edit did a poor job explaining why the winner won and their rivals lost. Similar to S32 Koah Rong in that regard. But I thought the cast was good and most episodes were entertaining. In particular the F8 episode was outstanding.

This.  They changed the editing style and a lot of people did not like being tricked.  I do agree they need to better fill in gaps.  That or give more strategy or backstory like Australia’s does.  But yea it’s worth watching.

I lol Everytime they put on the Terminator bad guy music.

My daughter and wife hadn’t seen some of the earlier seasons so we went back to US season 8.

They particularly wanted to see how Boston Rob and Amber got together.  Great season so far.

love George!

What's interesting to me is that AU just fluidly and naturally does what US can only dream of.

Like, the most recent season of US, they had a Prisoner's Dilemma element, a Monty Hall Problem, and a bunch of other game-theory setups shoehorned in, poorly thought out, barely explained, and completely random.

Meanwhile, on AU... when 2 of the minority 4 win immunity, Hayley comes up with the "we're going to randomly assign a hidden immunity idol between the other two of us... and we're only going to decide after you cast your votes. So it's 50/50 you pick right, otherwise, our target among your minority is going home". And that fractures the weak majority. That's game theory executed correctly, and it's not artificial, it's not forced... it's smart players playing the game.

And that's not the only time so far this season that something like that has happened, someone came up with some strategy on their own to force a play... it just happens so organically in AU and so fake in US.

I think part of it is casting.  US leans towards folks trying to become actors and such(Big Brother does the same).  AU casts regular folks.  Its how US used to do things.  Also, the other thing is they have more episodes and more time to really unpack this.  US rushes things.

Awful.  They brought in the woke police and wrecked the show.
I saw that on the news with the "c'mon in guys" quote to start the season

Thanks everyone! Looks like it'll be the first season I will skip. Time is tight lately so I won't bother.

Wife and I are watching SurvivorAU season 4 and we are convinced they are keeping Ross supplied with pot. He is absolutely hilarious!

He would find a way to convince you otherwise no doubt.
I'm sure King George would believe that. And explain it to me endlessly, with complete obliviousness to any social cues otherwise.

we wrapped up Australia S4.

I'll admit- as soon as Super Dave was out, I lost a lot of interest, even if it was the right move at the right time.

Some general thoughts..

- regardless of how hard the Aussies play, there's a mutual respect and decency between them that typical US players lack. it's hugely refreshing, tbh.

- has Survivor in general turned into rewarding the nail that doesn't stand up? wasn't a fan of either of the final 2 here.

You should go right to season 5.

You all should get familiar with the Australian survivor sub on Reddit…. The new season starts soon.

that also begs the question.  Willl the new episodes show up there or not until the season is complete?

Just started 3, with Russel.
a few in... and I know these take time to set up, but so far there aren't any Luke/Dave level characters here to get behind.

the ski-jump gold medalist is seriously bad-### though...as is the geriatric swim legend.

and crazy to see a fit 7' dude who isn't a basketball player.

This season for me was very slow to start..... but it picks up quick closer to the merge.

I know I'm a bit late but I finally caught up and ended season 41 of Survivor. Ericka winning was my Dark Horse with Danny and Danny was right about them not taking Ricard out Sooner. Xander I get why he wanted to keep Ricard and thought the move they pulled on Shannon was great. She was getting so cocky and annoying and obsessed with certain players and Ricard and others were right about her only wanting to dictate what was happening.

Tiffany and Heather made it much further then I thought they really should. Heather never gave up which I think kept her in. The fire making challenge was amazing though. I thought DeShawn should've been voted off sooner and he was an absolute weasel. I'm not sure how others took the racial social justice stuff from the tribal but I didn't mind it as much but thought DeShawn just wasn't as genuine as others and trying to create a sob vote for him. Danny, Lilliani and the others sounds more genuine and the other cast involved seemed to like it.

Xander's big Mistake was not having Erika in the fire challenge. She was too like able in the end and took the biggest risk in Survivor history when she was secluded. Naseer I hated at first for ratting on his members not tanking the challenge for the rest of his team either. However by the end when he was voted out he was really funny and very likable for me. Evvie played a solid game and she looks like my Brothers GF too hair style and all.

Ricard played a solid game and had the right mix of allies to an extent. Won a lot of challenges too. Probably wins if he made to the end. Danny I thought would do better in some of the challenges individually. He got me with the whole Dad story.

Overall what a season and I loved the new things implemented. I thought Survivor got stale awhile ago and needed to do something to change it up. This is exactly those changes. Cant wait for march

We're at the switch. Skier and Matt are my faves, but nobody as interesting as S4. Even Ice cream Harry runs circles around anybody in this season, strictly from an interesting standpoint.

Aussies are maybe too nice, culturally. Game playing...considered a bad thing. Idols? Horrible- shouldn't look for them, or get ostracized. They want everything fair and honest...which I agree with in real life, but not for a TV game show.

New season dropped.  Apparently it may not be on paramount + after all.  but if you go to the facebook group "The Tribe Has Spoken"  you might find it there.  👍  First episode was last night

watched earlier it in that facebook group and i saw links on torrents sites as well

and its off to a quick start

I really enjoy the longer shows and 3 times a week format

You think they  will show this season on  Paramount plus  before it ended? I did notice plus was seasons of Survivor New Zealand and Survivor South Africa.

Watching first episode now looks like it's going to be good. I'm going to have to watch what I read on Twitter.  Luke and some of the others not giving spoiler alerts.

+1. This is actually one of the bigger reasons why I prefer AUS Survivor to US Survivor.  Pumped to start the new season!

I don't watch a lot of the US version any more... but the whole Idol thing- Aussies seem to actively hate people who dare to look for and play these things, and conspire against anybody that does (at least in my season and half of watching). It's expected in the US to do both, no?

still laughing at Super Dave face first on the ground bobbing for the popcorn after finding the idol.
