I am fully expecting Lindsay to be a hot mess. Her three words to describe her self are Loud, Talkative, Intense. Given her last name, I am thinking someone has already dubbed her "she witch".
I didn't see that. 3 of the qualities I hate most in women.I am fully expecting Lindsay to be a hot mess. Her three words to describe her self are Loud, Talkative, Intense.
Wonder why? I was watching s1 today.Muther duck.
Aussie appears to have been pulled entirely from paramount+. We just started S5
Not intentionally. South Africa and New Zealand is also gone.Did you break it?
I just checked my Paramount + and my Aussie Survivors all gone too.

When I went there last night, the page wouldn't load. I will be trying it again later today so I hope it works. If you all go to the facebook group i posted earlier you will find all the episodes to every season.
It should i just visited there a little while ago......This current season has been great so far. Ill leave it at that to avoid spoilers. When I went there last night, the page wouldn't load. I will be trying it again later today so I hope it works.
pinky is correct that the links to the previous season are in that FB groupPinkydaPimp said:It should i just visited there a little while ago......This current season has been great so far. Ill leave it at that to avoid spoilers.
ah... I went, but got creeped out by being in FB, so only perused and didn't immediately see how/where to watch episodes, so bailed pdq.PinkydaPimp said:If you all go to the facebook group i posted earlier you will find all the episodes to every season.
There is a “featured” tab. Check there.ah... I went, but got creeped out by being in FB, so only perused and didn't immediately see how/where to watch episodes, so bailed pdq.
Only thing I saw there were a lot of people complaining about paramount pulling it, but I didn't see any answers or "just watch the episodes here" posts.
but that's great to hear that they're there... even if it means going to FB
excellent- thanks! I honestly never would've found that. There is a “featured” tab. Check there.
Who wants to watch Survivor on a laptop or phone? Not me.PinkydaPimp said:If you all go to the facebook group i posted earlier you will find all the episodes to every season.
lots of soccer still on it too.... but that might just be me. (I'm watching PSG vs Real Madrid right now)Who wants to watch Survivor on a laptop or phone? Not me.
The only reason I got Paramount + was to watch Australian Survivor. Guess I can get that $5 per month back now.
AUS is pretty damn good this yearNew season starts tonight. Also survivor australia is still awesome!
Don't think anybody ever said it was addiction. but afaik, that's not exactly a standard sleep aid- thought it was something bipolar or manic people use to ease/minimize manic episodes. He said he'd been taking it for years and was trying ween off of it...just at a poorly chosen point in time. Hopefully they bring him back.Damn that one dude is huge! A person with lithium addiction, never even heard about that drug let alone people addicted to it. The nerdy chick is kinda cute![]()
If it was in fact used as a sleep aid, then it’s an off-label use. Its actual use is to treat bipolar disorder.Don't think anybody ever said it was addiction. but afaik, that's not exactly a standard sleep aid- thought it was something bipolar or manic people use to ease/minimize manic episodes. This might be the least physically impressive group of people ever assembled for the show.
I miss Aussie Super Dave. Even ice cream Harry would kick these people's asses.
thanks. I was a bit confused why he was pulled. So basically he would likely be in withdrawl and with the other factors it was too risky. Im surprised though that they didnt do drug tests and other tests to find this out earlier. If it was in fact used as a sleep aid, then it’s an off-label use. Some people can go off certain meds to play Survivor, but lithium is not one of them. You need close medical supervision, including frequent blood tests, to be weaned off it properly. And if you are on it, it can mess with your kidney function and cause dehydration, which it appears is what happened.
If this were a normal season, they would have pulled him as soon as they learned of the issue and put in an alternate (some seasons they have the alternates on site for the pregame, other seasons they have flown someone in). But that wasn’t possible in a pandemic season. The information didn’t come to light until after the required quarantine. So production’s choice was to do what it did or start the game with 17 people.
I think it was mainly for show. First, they already knew he was on it. What he “changed” was that he went off of it the day before. If taking that could cause dehydration then they wouldn’t have risked it. Second, it’s just like last season with the “guys” talk and Jeff almost forcing an issue. I wouldn’t be surprised if producers interviewing people kept bringing it up so that one person would cry foul the next day. CBS had come under lots of criticism before the last Survivor and I think they had no problem making it a story about what he went through even if they knew they’d pull him. It was a great story and I loved how he reconnected with his dad, but I don’t for a minute think they weren’t aware or couldn’t have stopped him from going on the show as soon as he said he was off it. They admitted to getting that info and if they were planning to monitor him very carefully that would be a red flag. I’d even think a show like Survivor may even have a person or two on call just in case.If it was in fact used as a sleep aid, then it’s an off-label use. Its actual use is to treat bipolar disorder.

I don’t think they were surprised. Note how they did it before the very physical challenge and note how they made it 5 on 5 on 5. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they make the small tribe last year compete with less people when they were down folks? Jeff said the he notified them the day before they left for the show. I think they planned to let him tell his story. Jeff said they would have talked more about it if he hadn’t already told his tribe. After the story is told, take him off before the challenge.thanks. I was a bit confused why he was pulled. So basically he would likely be in withdrawl and with the other factors it was too risky. It seemed to be like Jeff was telling him that we can’t monitor you to the extent that you need to be. I don’t think they have that kind of testing equipment on-site.I think it was mainly for show. That is not correct. The tribe(s) with more people always sit someone(s) out to make the numbers even. That is why Heather competed in so few immunity challenges before the merge. (Her meltdown was in a reward challenge.)Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they make the small tribe last year compete with less people when they were down folks?
Right and Jeff said he notified them the day before they left. I would think it was already a hot topic of keeping an eye on him and that they knew immediately it would be an issue if he went off it. I think they decided not to pull him before the show so they could feature him.It seemed to be like Jeff was telling him that we can’t monitor you to the extent that you need to be. Or they literally told him what would be happening and he should get his "story" out to the tribe early so it could be featured on the show and make him memorable. Then, if he plays along, when he was fully off of the Lithium they would bring him back for a future season.Right and Jeff said he notified them the day before they left. Maybe I’m wrong but I thought they only did that for challenges where the number competing mattered. For instance, if everyone has to climb up and dive into the water, having an extra team member hurts you so people even up to sit out but during say the boulder challenge you could use the extra folks. I could be wrong but a challenge like last night where an extra person would be helpful pushing the boat was allowed. Agreed. It wasn’t a surprise but I think rather than replace him last minute that they saw a really good story to tell. One that like last season makes them look PC/woke after all the criticism they took in seasons prior. I didn’t mind his story, it was pretty cool the way he bonded with his dad, but I watch Survivor for Survivor and hearing stories about people fills in their character as they make or break alliances. They had this whole segment ready and planned out. Look at the girl from Kenya, they had a couple pictures like normal family stuff they show when people are being interviewed. They had a whole news segment on him.offdee said:Or they literally told him what would be happening and he should get his "story" out to the tribe early so it could be featured on the show and make him memorable. It seemed like his story to the tribe was very quick and almost forced into conversation by him. He also didn't seem overly surprised or upset when Jeff broke the news. So I think he knew how this was going to play out before it happened.
Nope. The number is always even. The only time I can think of when it wasn’t was the gross food challenge in the first season, when they were making things up on the fly.stbugs said:Maybe I’m wrong but I thought they only did that for challenges where the number competing mattered. That became their best option because the only alternative was to start the game with 17 players, which is a last-minute logistical nightmare. In a normal year they would have pulled him, plugged in an alternate, and put him on a later season when his situation was under control.stbugs said:Right and Jeff said he notified them the day before they left. I tend to agree with bugs... a show this massive is going to have a whole list of alternates ready to go at a drop of a hat. That became their best option because the only alternative was to start the game with 17 players, which is a last-minute logistical nightmare. Except because of quarantine requirements and difficulty of getting flights into Fiji at the time, they did NOT have alternates at the ready. In a normal year they would have.I tend to agree with bugs... a show this massive is going to have a whole list of alternates ready to go at a drop of a hat.
as you've said- Lithium isn't something to mess with adhoc. as soon as production found out about this, they'd have swapped him out... and I truly believe they would've been capable of doing this within 24 hours. it doesn't sound like he told a producer as he arrived on the beach day 1 of shooting- oh, btw... lithium... oops!
I usually (rgiht or wrong) err on the side of trusting the decency and honesty of people and shows and don't buy into the more cynical takes on things... but this time it doesn't make sense for the production team to have allowed him to even start without knowing this was exactly how it would turn out.
right... good point.Except because of quarantine requirements and difficulty of getting flights into Fiji at the time, they did NOT have alternates at the ready. In a normal year they would have.
different/alternative types of peoples' stories = woke. being made to see and hear different/alternative is bad. very bad. They've always told people's stories. Some of the stories have changed, especially what some people are now willing to share about themselves in front of the world. Why do people get so mad about this? I'll never understand it.

I agree. I think they left him in long enough to get his story.Agreed. It wasn’t a surprise but I think rather than replace him last minute that they saw a really good story to tell. While lithium has a withdrawal syndrome (mostly irritability, insomnia, weakness, lightheadedness), the biggest risk from rapid tapering is recrudescence of his mood disorder - both mania and depression (I'm not buying he'd be prescribed it purely as a sleep aid). It's recommended to be tapered slowly, like over months in chronic users.Pip's Invitation said:It seemed to be like Jeff was telling him that we can’t monitor you to the extent that you need to be. thanks for that. agreed across the board. While lithium has a withdrawal syndrome (mostly irritability, insomnia, weakness, lightheadedness), the biggest risk from rapid tapering is recrudescence of his mood disorder - both mania and depression (I'm not buying he'd be prescribed it purely as a sleep aid). The kidney stuff/dehydration/high sodium are signs of lithium toxicity, but you wouldn't expect that as the drug clears his system. As such, I don't believe there is any special blood testing/drug levels done during conventional tapering. I also don't think there is a standardized protocol for stopping it cold turkey.
I think the show is hard enough without dealing with uncontrolled mood disorder and potential suicidality, and they didn't have a mental health professional willing to sign off on the risks associated with abrupt lithium discontinuation.
