Tatum Bell (4 Viewers)

Rotoworld has reported that Matt Lepsis, Broncos Left Tackle, will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Does that, in addition to the reports that Tatum was on the sideline with a Turf-Toe problem, mean a significant reduction in Tatum's production?

I'm not all that familiar with the Broncos O-Line, but from Shanny's reaction...

``Anytime you lose one of your top players for the season, it's always a pretty good punch,'' coach Mike Shanahan said Monday. ``It's a knockout punch almost.''
...it doesn't sound good.Thoughts?

i thought the same thing.

I need Drew or Busah to emerge before I can ditch Bell, but if you have a third RB as a decent RB2 option, I think you HAVE to consider selling high on TBell.

Man...You sway like a tree in the wind, don't you? Just two weeks ago, you had TBell as the second coming and now you are getting ready to throw him out with yesterday's garbage. I am still confident that TBell will be a major performer this year and there is no way that I would sell. Why Joe and David brought you on is beyond me.....

Is this so called turf toe injury for Tatum that serious? I've seen no major reports on it...

How serious can the injury be? Here is the Broncos last full series of the game

Denver Broncos at 05:57

1-10-DEN24 (5:57) M.Bell left guard to DEN 29 for 5 yards (T.Washington).

2-5-DEN29 (5:14) M.Bell right guard to DEN 31 for 2 yards (T.Washington).

3-3-DEN31 (4:31) J.Plummer pass short right to J.Walker to DEN 37 for 6 yards (D.Holly).

1-10-DEN37 (3:46) M.Bell right tackle to DEN 34 for -3 yards (O.Roye).

2-13-DEN34 (3:02) M.Bell left guard to DEN 35 for 1 yard (O.Roye, A.Davis).

3-12-DEN35 (2:56) T.Bell left guard to DEN 48 for 13 yards (B.Russell).

1-10-DEN48 (2:15) T.Bell left tackle to DEN 46 for -2 yards (K.Wimbley).

2-12-DEN46 (2:08) T.Bell right guard to DEN 47 for 1 yard (D.Jackson, A.Davis).

3-11-DEN47 (2:00) T.Bell left tackle to DEN 49 for 2 yards (D.Jackson).

4-9-DEN49 (2:00) PENALTY on DEN-P.Ernster, Delay of Game, 5 yards, enforced at DEN 49 - No Play.

4-14-DEN44 (1:06) P.Ernster punts 25 yards to CLV 31, Center-M.Leach, out of bounds.

I would be more concerned if those names appeared in the other order.

Where did you see the turf toe thing?
Did you read post #1?
The Lepis injury was reported on Rotoworld...not the turf toe for Tatum
Running back Tatum Bell ended up with 115 yards on 24 carries. Bell had 100 yards but lost a yard. However, late in the fourth quarter, Bell went over the plateau again.Bell left the game in the fourth quarter with turf toe, but returned. He said he'll be fine to practice this week.

All I'm saying is that he is real quick to jump on and off those badwagons without giving the situations time to play out.

Just two weeks ago, you had TBell as the second coming
I did?Regardless, all players are tradeable.
There have been a number of threads over the past few weeks where you have been touting your RB stable of Gore, TBell, Bush, etc. You said that there was no way that TBell would not finish in the top 10. Just because he is facing a little adversity doesn't mean you just jump ship.

How long do you suggest waiting for things to "play out"?

Like I said :fishing:I own Gore in ZERO leagues.Bush is only valuable in PPR leagues.Even if TBell finishes top-10, sell high is never a bad idea.

Longer than one day after the Lepsis injury. Who knows what will happen next week.

Regarding the turf toe, here's what we have in our Monday Injury report for Bell:

RB Tatum Bell - DEN - Late in the fourth quarter on Sunday, Bell left the game after re-aggravating a turf toe issue but returned. He said he'll be fine to practice this week - but turf toe can be a lingering type of injury and his fantasy owners should monitor his progress (or lack thereof) during the coming week. Bell downplayed the injury: "Mike (Bell) had a couple of runs and let me walk it off," said Tatum Bell, who ended the day with 115 yards. "Everything was fine." In news that relates to Bell, OLT Matt Lepsis suffered a sprained right knee and didn't return on Sunday. The latest news is that Lepsis tore his ACL as reported on NFL Network and he'll miss the rest of the year. ``Anytime you lose one of your top players for the season, it's always a pretty good punch,'' coach Mike Shanahan said Monday. ``It's a knockout punch almost.''

I think people are wondering where the quote came from? I haven't been able to find it at Denver Post either.

Of course it doesn't sound good. Matt Lepsis was easily one of the elite LTs in the game. Losing Lepsis is akin to losing Walter Jones. He doesn't get the pub, but he is absolutely without question one of the top-3 tackles (perhaps even #1), and he gets paid accordingly, too. Anytime you lose a guy you've devoted $9 million dollars of cap space to (something like a twelfth of the total cap), you're going to be hurting. With that said... Denver has some decent depth. They have options, and experienced backups. And there are, of course, two huge points to keep in mind. First off, Denver "survived" for two seasons with Ephraim "I'm so bad I'm even a backup in Houston" Salaam at left tackle. I put "survived" in quotes because one of those seasons was one of the three best rushing seasons in Shanahan's tenure, and the other was pretty darn good, too. The second point is that Denver lost Tom Nalen for 9 games back in 2002, and again they survived just fine. Tom Nalen's a hall-of-fame caliber center.

Is this a hit to Denver's offense? Absolutely. Lepsis was probably the biggest mauler of a run-blocker on the entire line. Still, rumors of Tatum Bell's demise are a trifle premature. I'd hold for at least a couple more weeks to see how everything shakes out, first.

What are the chances that Cobbs passes Mike Bell for RB2 now that he is close to healthy? I am not referring to this coming week, but more of the possibility that it could happen and the time frame for it to happen.

Cobbs was inactive in favor of Mike Bell in week 1, back when both were perfectly healthy. The big problem is that I don't know what's going on behind the scenes or in practice, so I don't know if Cobbs is gaining favor or MBell is losing favor or anything, but based on that one piece of information alone, I'd say Mike Bell's probably going to hold on to the primary backup spot.

I know noone cares about my team, but for the sake of information I have Brown, Westbrook and Taylor. I traded tatum for Plaxico and C. Benson (it is a keeper league so he may have value).

Thanks for the excellent insight SSOG. This is the type of information that I would hope would come from this thread rather than the pi$$ing match we had to endure earlier. :wall: Good stuff.

To an extent, I think hanging on to him makes sense. He is a quality RB1 in the Denver O as it was prior to the reaggravation of the toe and injury to Lespsis. And as SSOG pointed out, the Denver running game was nothing to sneeze at in the past regardless of who was blocking or carrying the rock. That said, I'm not advocating dumping him ASAP for Lundy, but if you can get quality for him now as opposed to waiting and finding out if things will shake out, then I think it makes alot of sense too. Especially since he was what a fourth or fifth round pick?

does anyone know at what point Matt Lespis went out on Sunday?
Hi OTR,Not positive but I know it was first half.

Tough to know for sure how that extrapolates to the future though as Shanahan not sure what they did Sunday in 2nd half will stick.

DENVER - Broncos left tackle Matt Lepsis is out for the season after tearing a ligament in his right knee in the first half of Denver's 17-7 win over the Cleveland Browns.

"Anytime you lose one of your top players for the season, it's always a pretty good punch," coach Mike Shanahan said Monday after an MRI revealed the tear in Lepsis' anterior cruciate ligament. "It's a knockout punch almost."

Lepsis stayed in for one play after the injury and then came out.

The Broncos inserted Erik Pears in Lepsis' place, but Shanahan said that might not be a permanent move. He said the team could switch right guard Cooper Carlisle to left tackle and put rookie Chris Kuper into Carlisle's position.

"He's played out there, we feel comfortable with him," Shanahan said of Carlisle at left tackle. "We're going to do the best thing for the team. We'll sit down and talk about it."

Adam Meadows, who was signed during training camp, may factor into the mix once his shoulder heals. Meadows played tackle for the Colts from 1997-2003 before missing the last two years because of the shoulder. He came out of retirement to join the Broncos this season.

The news wasn't all bad for Denver on Monday. Defensive lineman Gerard Warren has a sprained right big toe and might play Sunday against Indianapolis. Warren, who dislocated his left big toe in training camp, was injured on the first play of the game against Cleveland.

Lepsis was placed on injured reserve and Denver filled his roster spot by elevating wide receiver Brian Clark from the practice squad.

When was his toe originally aggravated? Is this something he has had for a while?

I saw he is listed as probable on the injury report. Anyone have any further insight as to whether he has been fully practicing and/or how this injury might effect him this weekend? I saw Bob Henry's "Sleepers" article named M. Bell as a potential sleeper due to Tatum's injury. I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts on this.

(Rotoworld) Tatum Bell (probable, toe) practiced fully on Wednesday.

Impact: Tatum owners are breathing a short sigh of relief. The emerging fantasy star gets a great matchup at home versus Indianapolis this week.

is Tatum Bell the type of guy that could put up a 200 yard rushing game with 4 TD's?

that is what it would take for him to really deserve all the hype this message board gives him.

Why Joe and David brought you on is beyond me.....
Whoa, guy.
Agreed. If you have a problem with something I've done, please shoot me an email at bryant@footballguys.comJ
There's a big difference in voicing ones thoughts vs. complaining to the boss about something.Just because I wonder aloud about the coffee this barrista made doesn't mean I need to write a letter to starbucks HQ.

I thought turf toe is one of those lingering type of injurys. I was thinking of dropping maskon my wr to handcuff mike bell. any opinions?
