The Footballguys Bowl! - Was "Interest In A Footballguys Subscriber League?" (2 Viewers)

Kind of late to the thread here but I'm doing ok in this thing through 10 weeks. Is there anything like a leaderboard we can look at yet?

ETA nevermind found it. I'm in 90th but we still have four weeks to get the the dance

Well I clawed my way out of injuries and into 3rd place in division 0014.

I am still gonna be 3 games out of 2nd place though. And with the tough start, like 900th in standings probably ain't cutting it.

Got whomped this week, falling to 9-2, in 1st by 1 game. I console myself by not being the team that scored 188.7 pts but lost because his opponent scored 219.55.

We should be good on all the player images being gone. :)
Fantastic! Loads so fast and allowed me to find my team in the overall standings…..

Waaaaay down in 1001st place (page freakin 11 out of 20. Oy)

It was probably better for you when you couldn't find your team.... OHHHHHHHHH! ;)

Allow me to retort…

It’ll make my 2nd half comeback that much sweeter now that everyone knows that I’m amazingly average at this.
All the way up to 826th place!

The comeback begins…

6-5 and up to 657th place.

1265 gets you in the top 475 scorers. 56 teams under that with 7 or more wins. Spot 419 is 1272 points. I would say if you are at 1272 or more then you are currently in the playoffs.

The two guys below are tied in points at 1227. One is 8-1, the other 2-7.

70g8orfever (0093)811227.3
1654stiles08 (0141)271227.3

Update on my projected playoff cut. 475 spots available. 303 teams are 8-3 or better. I'm going to assume that all are in based on record. 159 leagues x top 2 equals 318 so that's close. Maybe a few 8-3 teams aren't in the top 2 and some of the 7-4 are, pretty much a wash. 475-303 = 172. Ranking the teams with 7 or less wins by points, the 172nd has 1562 points. Walking back 15 teams puts you at a point total of 1565. I would say that's your current cut line for anyone not in the top 2.

Looking at some of the point totals is mind blowing. Some of the leagues must be very top heavy. League 49 has lots of parity. Half the league has scored over 1500 points, but the top team has only 1565. We've only got two teams at less than 1400 points total. I am in first at 9-2 with 1526 total points and we've got a team at 3-8 with 1519. Only one team that has checked out. 7-4 gets you a three-way tie for third place in the league. Nothing is settled for us yet.

1566.3 as of today 😬

I have a picture of :poop: next to my points against, because I have given up the most points in my division. But I am in 2nd place with a 7-4 record, and have 1587.2 points (365th overall).

168th at 8-3 and 1611 points.
Losing Godwin hurt but (knock on wood) staying mostly healthy certainly helps. As does picking up Tua from waivers.

Looking at records and points scored shows just how much luck is injected into H2H.

I'm at 8-3 and have as many points as 2 out of the 3 11-0 teams.

This is why playoff eligibility in leagues should at least partially be based on points scored.

Who is this guy Nick Muse?

Looking at my team roster through the www.footballguysbowl.com website I've been noticing this guy, for weeks now, at the bottom of my roster. Just his name. No stats, nothing. Just his name. Figured he was a glitch that would get corrected. He's still hangin round......

Who is he?

Where did he come from?

Why is he on my team?

When will he leave?

How do I toss this bum to the curb?

On a side note: With three weeks to go in the regular season my team is currently ranked 620th overall, with a record of 6-5 and total points scored at 1619.55. Appears to be a playoff worthy team......we shall see.

I just sorted the teams by total points, and the 475th ranked team has 1537.35 points, so we know the points cutoff at the moment is over that. If you are wondering how much over, see @BassNBrew post 8 posts ago.

NIck Muse? I'll take a look at this. IT might be a glitch on tech's part.

Once we are to the playoffs, the points 100% matter and records go out the window! :) We really wanted the W's and L's to matter in Footballguys Bowl to echo the home league feel. We have discussed introducing median scoring for 2025.

@Joey Wright , what's the roster management situation for the playoffs?
We got this question a lot today in the leagues and we are going to for sure make an announcement. Once you are OUT of the playoffs, you are not to make any add/drops. Your season is effectively over. I am exploring the option of locking teams once they are eliminated.
It has the potential to change the impact of locking down backup DST/ QB/ TE as the upside of backup RBs starts to be outweighed by the possibility of getting skunked.

Just for clarification: If we did lock down, it would be only to the teams who are no longer in the playoffs.

I think a nice way to do it is you play an opponent and the median score for all leagues each week. So each week you can be 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2. Keeps the home league feel, brings in the points aspect.

Personally I think you are already there. 173 teams get in on total points and that's after you take out the top two teams in each league. Basically 10% of the field doesn't need to worry about their record.

To elaborate further....

1812 teams
At a minimum, 10% either auto drafted and/or aren't really active in weekly management = 181

1812 - 181 = 1631 active teams

302 make the playoffs based on h2h record = 18.5%
173 best of the rest get in based on points = 10.6%

I've dropped down to 4th place in my division at 7-5. Hopefully I am still in the points running. After week 12 I now have 1720.65 points.

Ok I'm still behind on points but I continue to score the most in the league now that team is healthy. It could end up close on cut line.

We are tracking. My squad crapped the bed pretty hard this week and moved down to 7-5 and 4th place. I'll likely be on the outside looking in for the playoff picture unless these next couple weeks are very strong.

Still stuck in 3rd place at 7-5 in 0067 and just can't catch a break in H2H (Keep facing the hot team of the week), but moved up to 116th place in total points for the contest at 1776.60.

7-5 and up to 492nd place. And now up to SECOND place in division 0083! Thanks you for fueling this comeback, @Joey Wright !! :)

Also, while I have you @Joey Wright , I believe my team is at 492nd place judging by record and points scored, but my login name is totaly blank in the standings (though it has been in the standings for every week leading up to now). Can you see if that can be fixed, please? Thanks

I've achieved a new low, after my injury-ravaged, and otherwise underperforming squad notched a League-low 88.75 in Week 9!!!

I now stand in 11th place, stunned that there's actually a Team below mine in the standings. He's scored about 130 points more than I have, yet has only won 1 game. Imagine the shame of the 2 Teams in my League that have fallen to me.

2-7, 974.35 points.

Some Draft, it was. Batting leadoff (1.01):

CMC, MkEvans, Waddle, Andrews, Kincaid, Mostert, Diontae, Love, Sutton, Doubs, Corum, Likely, McLaughlin, DmRobinson, JMason, Levis, Chiefs, JMcMillen, JHill, Kraft.

Oof. :bag:

Team rounding into form with the injury bug finally held at bay.

Notched my 3rd win this week, on the strength of a Season-high 137.85 score!

I've never experienced anything like this, in terms of the perfect storm of injuries and underperformance, in 30-years plus of enjoying this hobby.

All other Team doing very well. Many Teams across a variety of formats and contests. This is the outlier.

Very happy to have managed a Team in the inaugural FBG Bowl. Look forward to the opportunity to redeem myself in 2025.

Good luck to all, moving forward!

I have some exciting news. I am dropping this in your league chats in just a bit. Just to show the Forums a little extra love, I'll give you guys the scoop first!

Hey everyone! We are two weeks away from the Footballguys Bowl Playoffs and we have an exciting announcement…. THE CUTLINE!

The powers that be met today and came up with the cutline for year one WILD CARD teams which will be 1975 points. This means any team scoring 1975 points or more on the season will move onto the first round of the playoffs. This is in addition to the top two teams in standing in each division. From there each week 50% of the playoff pool will be cut until the Week 17 FINAL!

So best of luck the next two weeks everyone and let the race to 1975 begin!!!

I sent our tech guy your message. We are having some issues with our standings page. This sounds like it is part of it.

So, I only need to score ~700 points over my final two games to qualify? Time to make a few phone calls.

1265 gets you in the top 475 scorers. 56 teams under that with 7 or more wins. Spot 419 is 1272 points. I would say if you are at 1272 or more then you are currently in the playoffs.

Update on playoff cut.

Team 475 ranked by points is 1677. If you don't have this many points right now you are in deep do-do.

224 teams are 9-3 or better, I will say all of these teams are in.
244 (122) teams are 8-4, I will say 50% of these teams will claim 1st or 2nd place slot.
That accounts for 346 teams, the actual number will be 318.

475 slots - 346 = 129

Counting the points standings the 129th team with less than 9 wins sits at 1724.

346 - 318 = 28 offset teams added dropping the cut to 1715.

TLDR:

1725+ points = IN
1715-1724 points = Likely IN
<1715 points = start sweating
<1700 points = Have a nice season guy

We know people have been wanting a cutline number. We made it generous and from our calculations should get us our 25%ish number into the playoffs. Although, we wanted to give you something to shoot for as well. Hard cutline establishes that.

START SHOOTING SHOOTERS!!! :)

@Joey Wright

So, this seems to be an arbitrary cutline. How was this number arrived at? What is significant about 1975 total points?

Establishing the cutline at this arbitrary number means no one knows how many additional playoff teams there will ultimately be (after the top two from each division.) No?

Any team that didn't finish 1st or 2nd in their division yet averages 141.07 points/game or more through 14 weeks gets admited into the dance.
