The Footballguys Bowl! - Was "Interest In A Footballguys Subscriber League?" (1 Viewer)

Here is the message you might see pop up in your FBG Bowl later today:

Good Morning AT all!

Due to there being a large number of waivers/add/drops made by non-playoff teams overnight, we are locking all rosters of non-playoff teams. This is not a punishment by any means. Just a precaution we are taking to make sure playoff teams are able to make the moves they are allowed to make.

Any illegal moves that were made will be audited and fixed as soon as possible. Thank you!

@Joey Wright - FYI - I attempted to add Patrick Taylor this am, but he had been picked up by a non-playoff team. How will this be handled. I understand that the waiver move will be turned back, but will there be another waiver period? I have FA $ but am traveling today and so will not have constant access. League 006

I'll go handle this right now. Is your username rzback77 on Sleeper as well @rzrback77

@rzrback77

The team that picked up Patrick Taylor is in the playoffs. While they did not hit the 1975+ point cutline, they did finish 2nd in the division which granted them playoff eligibility.

Congrats to you though getting in with 1988.05 points! A lot higher than I was able to score this year! :)

And I would bet a player currently on waivers in every single league will be starter-worthy at some point in the next 3 weeks.
I agree with this because crap happens. But there is a difference between starter worthy and difference making.

Don't get me wrong, those in leagues with 2 owners left have an advantage over those with 6 teams left.
This. 4 teams made the postseason in my league, which means the WW will inevitably yield less fruit than a league where 2 teams made it.

I correctly benched Deebo Samuel, but incorrectly started Jauan Jennings. Isaac Guerendo did OK with 11.5 points.
Deebo scored more than Jennings
(Note: I am laughing with, not at you. Don’t ban me!)
I meant I should've benched both Deebo and Jennings. At least I didn't start Brock Potty
I had both Deebo & Jennings going. Because Hall was out.

Now Hall isn’t out. :wall:
Oh, that blows. You used 2 starting spots and now have 10 points. And BTW, Jennings scored more than Deebo.

18 in that league, but yeah.

Still a lot of game left - it’s a start 22 IDP, but I was already a huge underdog a 7 going against 2, so this wasn’t helpful.

Where are all the smart people that post the cut line for the normal subscriber contest before the MNF games? We could use something like that for this so we know what to be rooting for tonight...hahaha

Right now it is 269.9. I expected about 292 needed to advance coming into the week. From the FBg article the top ten advancers were Chase, Henry, Barkely, Burrow, Monty, McLaurin, Kamara, Kupp, Godwin, Brown.

Barkley, Henry, Monty, and Kupp having really bad days probably pulled the 292 down.

Now that I did all that work it looks like the standings aren't accurate because I have 167 and the FBg webpage shows 144.

I don't think it is showing Sunday night scores

Still wonky, Charbs 13.6 only takes me to 158. I don't have anyone else that scored less than 13 unless it's Kittle from Thursday night.

@Joey Wright thoughts?

Two very down weeks. Only got like 200 of the 302 I needed. Good luck! Proud of the push. I got killed across all leagues this year by injuries. Probably the worst, most concentrated and worst-timed injuries in any of the past 20 years for me.
It was a tough year for your injuries and you came close. It was a tough league and teams played hard.

My score is messed up somewhere. My 143.3 average for the first 14 weeks is correct, but the current playoff standings shows me with 140.9 this week (184th place with 284.2), but the sleeper site has me finished at 148.2. I assumed the 7.3 difference was a late player not yet counting, but no player on my team scored 7.3. I will just sit back and see what happens after tonight's games, but my guess is I'm going to be below the cut.

We are getting scores updated and all will be verified to make sure everything lined up. I've been auditing scores from league to league to make sure everything is on the up and up.

I posted this message this morning in the Sleeper chats. Thanks again for participating everyone!!!

Good Morning @all… especially our TOP 272 headed to the Semifinals!

To check if you made the semifinals, please head to https://footballguysbowl.com/#standings.

We are going to lock any teams who missed the cut. If you did not make the semifinal cut, please do not make any waiver moves, adds, or drops. If you put a claim in before your team was locked, it will still process so please do not do that.

We will keep an eye on stat corrections, but Sleeper has done a phenomenal job this season getting those in day of. Still, we will be monitoring it.

Have a great day!

I am rolling in at 95th place only a cool 56.4 pts behind the leader. On to next week. Unfortunately my leaguemate did not advance. I am the sole representative from Division 113.
Actually you are very fortunate. You have the whole waiver wire to yourself. I'm having to compete against another 2 owners.
good point. I have two opponents still in it. Both ahead of me. I can outbid either of them but the wire is super thin in this contest. My 25 cents (it was 10 earlier but now I'm spending up) is that the benches should be 2 spots shorter to make the wire more interesting.

The bench spot was something we discussed at length and will discuss again. We did deeper benches with no IR spots. May change for 2025.

I initially didn't like it but warmed up to it later as something different. It does kill teams with injury but helps teams that drafted well in the mid-late rounds. I was able to get Tillman, McMillian, and Watson of the wire. Given that so many teams abandon this competition, it's probably bette to keep the WW thin so some teams can't put together super teams in weak leagues compared to leagues that are hotly contested.

I like deep bench leagues especially for this kind of contest. As BassNBrew points out not every league is equal in terms of participation so short benches would really favor leagues that aren't active giving those in them big advantages come this time of year.

I know I am fortunate for sure but I was still rooting for my division mate to make the cut because we were in it all year together. Plus it's not like there is much to put me over the top on waivers. It's pretty bleak. The top people (according to sleeper) still availalbe are guys like Dorian Thompson Robinson, Ty Johnson and Penix. Essentially backup qb is the only thing out there. There isn't even any good defenses left.

Amazing how the defenses dried up. We have to have some teams with 3 locked up.

Again, a good point. I say the wire is thin, and it is, but I too took advantage of it throughout the season because I'm always active like that. I also went somewhat light in the draft on WR, which is part of the reason the wire "appears" thin. That said I also picked up Tillman (and E Moore who also helped), more recently Coker and Malik Washington who may or may not make it into my lineup and a couple others I forget who cycled through my roster and might have started at one point. Schoonmaker helped me out when Ferguson and LaPorta were both out. I drafted both of them along with Pitts but don't like any of the 3. Ha.

yeah the more I think about it the more I think I'll concede that point.

I guess RB is where I was the most concerned about the wire. RB scarcity IMHO drives so many things, but I had a sense throughout the season that there weren't really any quality replacement RBs on the wire (and when I say quality believe me that the bar is fairly low for my standards). I've been successful up to this point on this squad largely because I drafted well at the position and have been fortunate to stay healthy. My concern is I'm not sure I could have turned it around off the wire had on or more of my RBs gone down. But.... I still concede based on the notion that we wouldn't want arbitrarily stacked superteams from one division vs the next. I agree with that fear. RBs are supposed to be hard to replace.

I am genuinely curious - who picked up RB(s) throughout the season here in the FBG Bowl that helped them, even if only a week or 2? There had to be some but I'm drawing a blank.

I've held Ford all year. He would have been cut long ago in a shorter bench league. He's ranked #58 in flex this week so basically a tier 5 player in a league that requires you to start 7 tiers. I think you get into competitive issues when guys like him might be available in half the leagues but not the other have in the playoffs OR when some guys have free reign of the wire this week while others still have two other teams left in their league to compete against.

I agree that the wire has a bunch of nothing most of the year and if you get hit with injuries during the year you are toast. That said, I think the priority with any of the rules should be keeping the playing field "relative" level between all the different leagues come playoff time. When money isn't involved, the only way to do that using the rules to do so.

I picked up Hunt very quickly when KC brought him back into the fold. He held a starting flex spot for me a number of weeks.
