Tim, the problem is the Left picks and chooses when to see things as a problem. Trump says Crime is a problem. The Left fires back with your answer above that all is well. Yet, the next shooting we have perpetrated by a white guy, every Left leaning person goes on and on about how shootings and violence in the country are out of control and the government needs to do something. Overall crime numbers (burglaries, car thefts, etc) are down, but violent crime is rising in concerning numbers--especially in the inner cities.
Trump says we need to do more for the schools. Yet, you say that is a "faux problem". But it would take very little google searching to find quotes from Obama saying the exact same thing--matter of fact, Obama was trying for a one billion dollar aid package for low income schools just days before leaving office. Trump vows to help schools=bad. Obama vows to help schools=greatest president ever.
While I will give you this, his speech, in its tone, would have been better fitted for something at a 4th of July celebration, I have zero problems with someone injecting a little "USA USA" into a speech and you shouldn't either. Just because someone says they are pro-American doesn't mean are they anti-everyone else. The line "We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones" seems to support that.
You are letting your feelings for the man, cloud the content. If Elizabeth Warren gave sections of this speech, you would have stood up and cheered because she was sticking it to those fat-cat Washington types and she is just speaking up for the little guy, but Trump said it, so it must be bad.
I am cautiously optimistic, but if things do not turn out well, in four years I will gladly pull the lever for someone else--even if they have a "D" after their name if that is what is the best for this country.
