The Real Official wildcard game 2 *** Steeler Vs Bengals *** (2 Viewers)

The Burfict hit was a direct result of the Shazier no call. He was looking for a chance to hurt someone and found one gift wrapped for him. Now it was definitely a penalty.

What's BS is the 2nd penalty. That probably doesn't even get called in a regular season game let alone a playoff game where they have let all the chippy stuff go from the first play. To call that after Pitt was getting 15 yards already and both teams were talking #### is just completely incompetent refereeing. No poise. No understanding of the moment. No accountability for letting it get to that point.

That ending was a joke. Should have been. A 50 yard try and you see what happens. Giving them a 35 yard Chip shot for the win is ridiculous.
Exactly

I still haven't seen a replay of what Jones got flagged for. The one they showed on the post-game didn't have him in the picture when the ref threw the flag.
Class personified.

He's right that a LB coach should not be in the middle of the field like that talking ####, but after what they did, the Bungals have no one to blame but themselves.
Porter was just trying to calm things down.
:lmao:  :lmao: Sure
 He's not the one that went ape ####.
When you talk #### all week before the game, and then get drawn into a stupid penalty by a coach talking #### to you, you're probably the Cincinnati Bengals.
OMG what are you doing here?
Celebrating. Sorry Jesus hates your Bengals.

I wanted to leave the thread but more good posting. Nailing it here.

WTF was Joey Porter doing out in the middle of all the Bengals?

inducing a game winning 15 yard penalty i suppose...
How did he induce Jones to grab the Ref?
looked to me like he grabbed Porter, bumping the Ref as he did. He clearly wasn't going after the Ref
I can't go back and watch it, but almost positive he grabbed the Ref
A buddy and I watched a bunch looking for something. Neither if us could see anything. We figured he pushed the ref and bumped against him face to face with how the announcers were carrying on. I'm sure he pushed Porter but we couldn't tell that either.

Love how Burfict is a thug but Shazier is Man of the year. #### all of you.
Really dude you are clueless just stop. Idioit
Learn how to spell check you buffoon. Both were completely illegal hits to the head.
Check the rules BUFFOON, shazier was a legal tackle.
Legal tackle or not (and it was borderline) bragging on the sideline about concussing another player is not exactly classy
It wasn't borderline. Bernard was not defenseless, Shazier can go helmet to helmet all day long and it's not illegal.
ok so it was what, 3/100's of a second from being an illegal hit? nah not borderline at all. and still doesn't have anything to do with the comment that it was pretty classless to be running up and down the sideline yelling about knocking somebody out
It wasn't nearly that close. Bernard took at least two steps and turned around. Just pointing out the rules man.

I agree celebrating an injury is classless.
so then how was the williams hit in the first half even remotely close to illegal? wr took like 4 steps and it wasnt even helmet to the head or helmet to anything.

As I posted above, the Panthers lost to Atlanta because of an itchy trigger finger of a ref after the Odell game.
:lmao:
Why is that funny? Did you watch the game? Panthers go down and score easy. 7-0. Crappy call on Tillman after an incompletion on 3rd and 15, which gave the Falcons a 1st down and they then went down the field and tied up the score. No penalty and the Panthers get the ball around the 50 and the Falcons D is back out there after a 3 and out. Not out of the question that the Panthers score at least 3 and the half time score isn't 7-7. Sorry, but while you may laugh, that was a huge penalty and absolutely changed the game. Panthers score and go up 14-0, I'm pretty sure the Falcons don't have the same fight that they did after tying the score. It was also a terrible penalty and only called because of the whole Odell blow up the week before. It didn't surprise me that they called it and the Panthers had plenty of other opportunities. They played like crap.

Maybe the Falcons still win the game, but when the Falcons got 7 points off of the penalty in a 7 point win, it was a big penalty. Anyway, I won't bring it up again.

The NFL is a mess right now. The popularity won't last forever with how they're running things now.

Flap you have really come around on your hate for a lot of the nonsense in the NFL.
It's changed a lot over the last couple of years. The NFL's inconsistencies and never ending pretend outrage of the announcers and studio guys is really annoying. The refs are different from game to game. It's hard to know what's what anymore. I don't remember ever feeling that way in the past.
Ditto here. I watch far less of the NFL than I used to and enjoy it far less. It's harder each year to stay interested with all the crap starting with the Commissioner all the way down to the refs and with all the nonsense on and especially off the field by players.
If I wasn't such a die hard Bears fan, I wouldn't watch it as much as I do. I rarely watch other games anymore. I know I'm probably in the minority.
I am a huge Pats fan, used to watch football all day on Sunday, and now struggle to get through one full game, so I am on board with you. Too many changes, games feel longer, can't tell Wtf is a catch or illegal hit, etc... Will probably stop caring altogether after Brady hangs them up.

Agree. That second penalty is so bad especially to decide the game.
Disastrous call when the NFL needed no more attention on that type of thing.

I feel bad for Marvin Lewis, the Bengals fans, and 51 of the 53 players on the Bengals' roster.

Pac-Man and Burfict, however... I want to taste their tears like Eric Cartman did with Scott Tenorman.
What did Mr Jones do exactly that had you so irate? If Porter isn't hanging out then I don't think it happens. Burfict I totally understand but Adam Jones played a heckuva game without much Safety help especially when Nelson went down. Have a little compassion there EG72., I know it's in you.
I don't care for Adam Jones. He and Burfict can share a storage container full of dix.

I recall the announcers saying a flag was thrown because someone bumped the ref. None of the replays ever showed that happening. I think the announcers just sucked.

He pushed Porter. I hate to see a game end that way. I really do. You never want it to come down to the refs. But keeping your poise and not drawing flags is what wins and loses games. Cincy fumbled the ball late and drew 2 stupid penalties. Nobody is questioning the first 2. Why anybody is questioning a flag being thrown when a coach is shoved is beyond me. I understand not wanting the game to end that way. But Bengals, just don't do stupid stuff and the refs don't even have a decision to make. They deserved to lose.

kept rewinding and watching. Honestly couldn't see anything. The Ref almost had his back turned away. Maybe he git bumped or maybe Porter got pushed but it was really hard to tell and there was a big crowd of players, along with Joey Porter.

Nance loves acting outraged. It's his thing. These guys commentating look for any little thing to get dramatic about.

You could be right with all of this.

Basically agree, but Porter was almost on the Bengals sideline when it happened. 50/50 they flag him there and people are losing their minds about Tomlin getting 2 coaches flagged. But when you play with Fire, sometimes you get burned. And the Bengals definitely do that.

Here is shot of video.

Jones basically runs over the one ref getting to porter. You don't see him until he throws the flag

https://mobile.twitter.com/_MarcusD_/status/686048770811772928/video/1

Eta there are 3 officials. The Ref and the other 2. There is an official to the right with his back to Cincy. Jones goes through him to shove porter
OK. I guess that's flag worthy.

What's amazing, is that I have watched this about 50 times, and I can't figure out where that third ref comes from.

If I had three wishes right now, one would be for Burfict to have to gobble down so much pud that when he burps 20 years from now at a restaurant, the people at the next table will feel like they're in Provincetown.

It's easily the worst officiated sport. It's rules are easily the most controversial and confusing.
Yet when the NFL tried to address it with full time officials the public didn't support them. You reap what you sow.

ARTICLE 8. NON-PLAYER PERSONNEL. Non-player personnel of a club (e.g., management personnel, coaches, trainers, equipment men) are prohibited from making unnecessary physical contact with or directing abusive, threatening, or insulting language or gestures at opponents, game officials, or representatives of the League.

Does anyone think Porter did NOT break this bolded part of this rule prior to Jones getting flagged?

Deion Sanders losing his mind with all sorts of foolishness defending Burfict on the NFL Network. That man is letting the limelight fry his brain.

The public? Even if that was true of the public not wa ting full time officials, since when do we get a say in NFL policy?

When the "public" and media went all ape#### on the replacement officials that weren't much worse than the real refs. The NFL got skewered on this one.

Not a chance. Didn't Porter getting fined multiple times for dirty hits as a player? Now he's on the field jabbering as a coach. What a loser. Yet refs standing there and do nothing.Eta:Maybe Harrison I'm thinking about.

Well that seals it then.

James Harrison was asked about the Burfict hit : they told me in new York when I had to visit that it's an illegal hit. I don't agree with it but that's what they told me.

Jabbering? I never even see Porter open his mouth.

Hey all I got was the TV feed but I don't see Porter instigate jabber, get abusive, threaten or insult anyone.

What I see is Porter walking off the field when he suddenly stops because someone ran up from behind and grabbed him. That someone is Gilberry. A group of Bengals than surround Porter while the refs get involved. Burfict then reaches out and grabs hold of Porters jacket but the refs still held off on calling a penalty until Adam Jones came flying into the crowd.

The entire time I could Porters face, his mouth never opened, he just smirked. You can smirk can't you?
