The Young Pope (1 Viewer)

I heard Pius on the commercials and assumed it was going to be about the WWII era papacy of Pius XII.  It's actually about an American pope named Lenny instead.  I think my idea was better.

Seems like its campy in a way, but not as campy as the memes that sprung up around it.  Which leaves it in the weird position of being too goofy to be taken very seriously (a kangaroo in the Vatican!  Cherry Coke Zero!  Sister Diane Keaton in a "I'm a virgin, but this shirt is old" nightshirt!), but not funny enough to live up to the Twitter jokes.

Yeah the promo shot of Law in the pope costume is pretty comical. Looks like something you'd see on the Simpsons.

This looked absolutely atrocious from every promo I saw.  The critics seem to agree with that... any reason at all to bother watching?

I fell asleep watching episode 2. That being said, it was released overseas earlier and has been confirmed for a second season.

First episode was basically just strange.  Missed the second episode but might give it another episode.

What's going on here?  I bailed after a few episodes.  Worth jumping back in?  Seems like every day HBO is shoving a new episode down our throats so I'm hesitant.

I also watched the first four episodes but lost track after that.  Didn't bother to record and not wanting to skip ahead.  It is worth coming back to when they have their inevitable marathon?

It seemed good enough for me. That being said, it felt as if I was making myself watch it, so I have kind of bailed.

I've watched six episodes so far. Still genuinely don't really know what I'm watching.
