I don't believe they "don't care about random people". Well some might, but that would be the exception not the rule.No one said that. That’s how you comfort yourself.I’ve read the entire exchange. You literally called him “disgusting” after saying he would save his dog instead of a random human.Don’t call people disgusting because you don’t agree with them."Certain lives and species are move valuable. Presidents over citizens"Your justification for human over animal is they are higher in the hierarchy.Literally the hierarchy you just established. So you'd save Trump from drowning over your father/son/mother/daughter?No it's not. You are not special because you were born this species and not that one. Were just not going to see eye to eye on this.I guess it all comes back to people feeling like all human lives are more important than all other lives, which is not a view I share. You take the death of some random being you've never met harder than that of a being that cohabitated with you for multiple years?Probably where I fall into. Why are human lives more important? Because we're more evolved animals? Why would a human have a soul and an animal not? Is that a flying spaghetti monster thing?I'm so glad this isn't one of those public polls. There are some things I just don't want to know.
Not looking to turn this in to a religious discussion but I think generally speaking the people who are shocked and disgusted by people choosing their dog view human life as sacred and that humans have a soul. It’s not surprising that some people just see humans as more evolved animals and wouldn’t see saving a human as some moral obligation.
I don't understand the save the stranger side at all. My dog sleeps beside me in bed every night. I'm supposed to save some random other being over her because that random other being's species is the same as mine or because we rose to the top of the food chain and got some notion of being all important or superior?
Nope.
You said the reason yourself. We are more evolved and have a better understanding of what it does to a person to lose a loved one and it is more difficult than losing a pet.
That seems so heartless to me.
When I had a chance to help. Yeah I do. It seems heartless to let that person die that has friends and family.
Yeah kid sorry about your mom or dad, but my dog you know.
The kid in your scenario would certainly choose his dog over a stranger.
And there is a reason why kids aren't allowed to vote or drive cars or live on there own. They can’t fully understand consequences. That is a horrible example.
Give me a time machine and let me go back 10 years and bring someone back, I'm getting my dog and not your dad or child or whoever, I don't care that the random human who died was someone's mother/father/daughter/son. There life is not more special because they were born this species and not that one. I will get the one who brought me love and companionship, who I spent years of my life with.
I think I'm reality almost everyone is doing the same.
That is sad and heartless.
Yeah, it is exactly how it works. Certain lives and species are move valuable. Presidents over citizens, humans over animals ever since the beginning of our existence.
He's over the citizen right?
Lol, move the goal posts much? Go troll else where.
I haven't been around since the beginning of humans, so I don’t think I established it, but thanks for giving me credit.
Yeah, it is exactly how it works. humans over animals ever since the beginning of our existence.
Your subsequent follow up was president over citizens is a MORE VALUABLE LIFE, so if that's the way it is and that's the established hierarchy of what lives are most important, you'd be pretty damn heartless to let that all important presidential life pass to selfishly save some random person in your family, right?
Keep posting in circles trying to paint me as a bad person. Thread that needle, maybe you can blame me for the Kennedy assassination while you are it.
I don't need to/can't really say anything else, this statement you made sums up your feelings rather well. Once you move to ranking which human lives are more valuable, I have to check out.
So bad. I told you that is how it works and thousands of years of history prove it. I didn't set the standard. You should check out though and get help you literally said you didn't care what random human died that you would get your dog. Disgusting.
Read what was said before you tell me how to react or what to do.
Do you think no one can read? We all see who is acting disgusting in here.
Clearly you didn't. I said it was disgusting to not care what happens to random people, especially in this scenario when you would witness it happen. Yeah I find that disgusting.
Some one saying they would chose their dog does not mean “they don’t care about random people”.
That’s a logical fallacy which judging by your responses here I don’t expect you to recognize.
Done with your nonsense.
I do believe they don't value human life to the degree that I do and that is the crux of the argument. I also bet the coefficient of correlation between people voting dog and people that are pro-choice is VERY close to 1.
This thread is a "fun" exercise into the nature of morality. If I were into the human sciences I would like to study it, but alas, I'm just a lowly accountant.
