I've been pretty rough on him, but I agree it is sad to watch. Putting the mental part aside for a second (though obviously that's a huge part of it), it looks like his body is breaking down too. And if he overtrained, it makes sense -- late 30's is when all the elite athletes go into sharp decline. Before Tiger it would be a joke to call a golfer an elite athlete, but that's what he was. Two other elite athletes around his age: Peyton Manning and Alex Rodriguez. I think that's the context we have to start considering, if a golfer is going to train at that level. The human body has limits, period.for the first time ever, I now think he's toast.
pretty sad, the guy was unbelievable, him and Jack were the best ever
turn it backwards, use the trailing edge as a chipperI'd go with the putter there.this is just amazing right here: https://vine.co/v/OFTV3e3t1YP
normally he would open the face and hit this like a bunker shot. He's so ####ed. unreal.
golf is different though. I'm better at age 47 than I was at 37 or 27, and i hit the ball farther and straighter now too. Technology has come a long ways. I swing 112-114MPH and consistently get it out 300+. I'm about the same size and build as Tiger is right now. The balls we use don't generate as much sidespin as they used to, so its actually harder to slice or hook the ball severly now, even if youre trying to do it on purpose. Putters are better, greens are better, course conditions are better.I've been pretty rough on him, but I agree it is sad to watch. Does that mean he couldn't get his ### in gear?Listening to him interviewed tonight and he said that the problem was he "couldn't activate his glutes". Repeated it probably 10 times.

Was there ever a guy in any sport who was arguably the best ever at one point who just totally lost it like this? Other than age?for the first time ever, I now think he's toast.
pretty sad, the guy was unbelievable, him and Jack were the best ever
So bet more than $20. You really think he is going to turn all this around? The Masters is played in April.update?Based on the way he was swinging the club at Isleworth, I'll take 15/1. If that really is the odds, I'll be putting $20 down.
Mike Vanderjagt comes to mind. Was there ever a guy in any sport who was arguably the best ever at one point who just totally lost it like this? Other than age?for the first time ever, I now think he's toast.

What kind of odds do you want on this one? We can escrow the money and I'll take whatever you want to bet on this.Where do I find odds for him to beat Jack's majors count? I'd throw $500+ down on that one. Easy money there.
That's exactly who I thought of. Perfect comparison. And both seem to have lost it right after their women left themMike Tyson
Mario, you been, uh, sippin' on grandpa's cough medicine have you?Where do I find odds for him to beat Jack's majors count? I'd throw $500+ down on that one. Easy money there.
I hope your betting the under or else your absence was preferable.Where do I find odds for him to beat Jack's majors count? I'd throw $500+ down on that one. Easy money there.
How YOU doin?Tiger should start doing squatsAll in his head.
Effing TommyBoy saying he's built like Tiger Woods.
Rick ankiel and knoblach weren't the absolute best, but they fall off the map at their initial positions due to a mental block on throwing. Vanderjagt call is a good one. I'd toss out Eddie George too but I think his was purely physical. Dante culpepper and Kordell Stewart both took sharp nosedives. Was there ever a guy in any sport who was arguably the best ever at one point who just totally lost it like this? Why make a bet that would take like 30 years to pay out if he hit the under, and who the hell knows how long if he was to actually hit the over.I hope your betting the under or else your absence was preferable.Where do I find odds for him to beat Jack's majors count? Age/injury, kinda the same I guess. Was there ever a guy in any sport who was arguably the best ever at one point who just totally lost it like this? Other than age?for the first time ever, I now think he's toast.

Trying to think of anyone in tennis fell off. None come to mind. Roy Hibbert had that weird streak where he was terrible and that looked mental.
Duval really is maybe the best example though. He was world number one and legitimately challenged tiger for a period.
Yeah, everytime he craps the bed in a tournament, he pulls out due to "injury".Double bogey, ow my back...![]()
Or he was constipated.Does the phrase" my glutes weren't activating" mean that his sphincter was puckering?
He was the player of the year in 2013.Weirdly though, doesnt Tiger have a bunch of wins and a few top 10 finishes in majors in the last 2-3 years?
He seems so far removed from that
Yes. He won the most tournaments in 2013. 5 of 16 entered. With 3 others being top 10. Named player of the year. His struggles now are so shocking because he hasn't been bad when healthy over the last 4 years. He's actually been the best on tour when healthy. Even when he's not at his best.Weirdly though, doesnt Tiger have a bunch of wins and a few top 10 finishes in majors in the last 2-3 years?

Speed and violence are 2 different things.Has another top pro ever had this run of injuries? Fred Couples has long history of back issues right? There has to be others.
Don't follow the sport super closely. Every one says his swing is "violent" but don't others swing hard too? Mickelson is out there with his D cups and seems good to go every couple of weeks.
A little different scenario there. Rory was casually dating and Tiger was married.Baloney Sandwich said:If I had to choose someone to break Jack's record I would put my money on Rory over Tiger. Interestingly enough, Tiger's game fell apart when leaving a woman while Rory's took off after doing the same.
Huh? 2013 was the exception. He's been on a downward trajectory since 2010.mr roboto said:Yes. He won the most tournaments in 2013. 5 of 16 entered. With 3 others being top 10. This current stretch is weird.

Is WD some code term for quitter? Seriously, this is not a sport if you can quit because things aren't going your way. It is a glorified hobby.
He doesn't want to finish at the bottom or miss the cut, so he takes his tiger club cover and goes home.Meh, he actually wasn't scoring that terribly yesterday and his back legitimately seemed to be jacked up. Horschel was picking up his tees and the ball from the hole for him. That doesn't happen unless he's legitimately hurt.Is WD some code term for quitter? He also played far worse last week and said he felt great afterwards. I didn't catch that on TV, but classy move on Horschel's part. Sergio probably would have kicked his tee right when he bent over to pick it upMeh, he actually wasn't scoring that terribly yesterday and his back legitimately seemed to be jacked up. I plan to use this as an excuse for farting in bed during golf season.Looking forward to springtime. Can't wait to try my new golf swing while I activate my glutes. I may have finally figured this game out.
