I mused tonight if the lack of QB signing meant that TN was going to draft a QB and then I saw
this article on nfl.com
These moves might also give us a hint as to the Titans' plans with the first overall pick
in the 2025 NFL Draft. We've seen no movement at quarterback and no reported visits from the likes of Russell Wilson or
Aaron Rodgers. Sure, they
could take
Abdul Carter or
Travis Hunter, both of whom could be the "
generational talent" they don't want to pass up at No. 1.
Yet, this very much feels like table-setting to make
Cam Ward the first pick. I'm sure the Titans have not bailed all the hay on that decision yet, and passing on elite non-QBs like Carter or Hunter can be dangerous business, unless they're sold on the idea that Ward can be a difference-maker. But they can't just march into 2025 with
Will Levis and a scrap-heap veteran and expect to energize the fanbase after three straight losing seasons.
If I had to guess right now based on the moves they've made to this point, Ward feels like a strong possibility. We're still six weeks removed from the draft, but to me, that's becoming a more likely situation right now.
I think the other option here is that if we take Rodgers/Winston/Wilson it could be seen as tipping our cards so we are just playing a game of chicken with NY and.or CLE. I think we should take A-Rod over Wilson or Winston. or maybe it doesn't matter and we are going to tank to take Manning in 26
A Aaron's people said he is considering between retiring, the Giants and Steelers. When pressed they mentioned TEN.
He was very unhappy with the lack of attention to detail/standards in NYJ and Tomlin is supposedly a welcome change.
Teams are telling him they want him to manage and not throw for 4-5k and he doesn't know if he wants that. He's in Cali thinking on things.
That's the best summary I can give. A lot on the radio yesterday. Tennessee is definitely low on the list and one reporter doesn't think they're a real consideration.
********
The first pick in the draft plays. They don't sit.
A lot of people think anyone can sit and learn so it'll happen. Maybe a stretch to week five or somesuch but usually it's day one. General rule, gotta be after 8-10 to sit and develop.

I'm upset with the national reporters that solely project flea market QBs to the Titans. They can kick rocks and will likely have some hiccups from fans and the team even in the future. There's a few that have been so vocal about Zach Wilson and now Wentz. There's others...it's a bad look for them.

I still think the definitive vibe of Ward is a total smokescreen. A former GM said on the radio yesterday that more than a few NFL GMs think this way now too.
In an either or scenario, ya don't show your cards.
In a four possibility, ya don't show your cards.
BUT ya do if you want to trade someone other teams cover.
The Titans five man GM team isn't short of experience so they wouldn't accidentally do this. It's a purposeful leak. We just don't wholly know what the purpose is.
Another is that Ward is not Peyton whatsoever. Teams do not do this as early as the Titans did unless there's a super obvious pick and he's not.

Shedeur had an outstanding visit on Monday. Everyone I talked to said very nice things. Jim Wyatt has said how his personality struck him and he seems like a really good good boy.
*******
Pat Kirwan's concept was the Titans are doing a trick from years ago where they control the spotlight.
I hadn't heard of this in years n years. Maybe since WFAN started.
It's very possible.
How does Ward act with the limelight of assumed #1? How does Shedeur behave when he's not? That's two big questions.
If Kirwan is right, he suggests Carter will be next and it'll be brief because no position holds the trade value of a QB so then it'll shift to Ward or Sheduer.
I'm taken by this theory. I think it might be true. It really works for explaining things and if you read reports Shedeur is barely mentioned as visiting.

Hunter said if he had to pick one position he'd play WR and (Russini? Breer?) someone mentioned a few teams especially the Titans that were pleasantly surprised by that news. Remember they don't need a CB so this news makes it a hmm pause think on thing. Maybe change ranking maybe not.

Rudolph still seems in their plans and every time he isn't he gets mentioned as oh btw at the end of articles.
I think they've done this process and may come back to that he's better (giving a lot of credence to year in system and knowing protections) than the other meh QBs for what they likely need of him.

Minshew has some steam. It was misreported that he worked with the Titans OC and then hasn't died off. There must be some interest.

Cooper Rush hasn't been a name for weeks and only maybe a few days. I guess that's done.
He's still my favorite. I like the youth yet experience, well regarded intelligence and study habits, and affordability. That people consistently say "doesn't try to do too much" speaks to me too. I feel like he counters and/or provides everything they need a veteran to whether we talk Levis or Ward/Sheduer. His super low key nature suits me too. It might be the Mayo but I just like a quiet backup right now.
Anywho that was like a blink- mentioned and gone for far longer time than discussed.

Borgonzi has been leading meetings in an orderly fashion controlling the discussion. He doesn't want to discuss every position or every pick at one time and idk... whatever but apparently that's a good thing.
That's about all they say about him on the radio.
*****
One funny? Odd? quote by an NFL GM about Borgonzi was that he's not afraid to put his male private part on the table and see what happens. He knows there's value in that.
This just adds to my guess of Ward may not be the guy but just the one they want teams to trade into the pick for.
