Titans 2025 (2 Viewers)

I don't like the reactions to "Cam Ward (insert word) Titans to sign his college WR"

I wanted him drafted. He was a common name all spring.
Idk Miami's history but I do recall when they were the U and sent many to the NFL so if some kid is setting a record, I wanna see that kid in camp.

Record breaker at USC, Michigan, OSU...I don't care. If it's a prominent program, I'm sold.

Idk why he went undrafted. I am totally ok to have a new QB ask if they can sign his buddy.

With Lockett and Ridley, Restrepo will know his place on day one.

Quincy Riley pick is getting a lot of love from Saints fans.
Titans should have been quieter about wanting Brownlee's former teammate.

The masses don't seem to have accepted the Titans steal of the draft last year, still, but the NFL sure has.
I was feeling bad for Riley listening to the radio like you need to give this kid his day, enough about Brownlee

If Callahan says Lockett and the rookie WRs have to beat out Oliver and then I don't post tomorrow, please know my head exploded

Colton Dowell should be ready for camp and I was half expecting his release.

Reminder- he blew everyone away by having a better pro day than Hyatt and Tillman- on their home field.

He looked like a raw rookie-athleticism but so raw. Improved pretty quickly but tore his ACL.

He's like 28 now and was a late bloomer.

His 1 in 100 chance of making the team is stronger with some camp time and knowledge of the game and offense. 1 in 50 now?

It's nice to hear he's doing well. I don't have much hope

Idk why he went undrafted.
He ran very slow at the combine b/c he hurt his hammy but decided to run anyways which is either dumb/noble depending on who you ask but this might have worked out for us. Some old mocks had him going in the 4th/5th . So we got a 4th/5th round talent without burning a pick. Sounds good to me.

Thanks. I did see the 4.8 after I posted.
Some discussion about this in his thread too.

It seems kinda dumb. If Tyreek runs a 40 with a rock in his shoe and runs a 4.8 would we have said he's slow? We've seen Restrepo on Saturdays so why was it so easy to accept he's slow? It's very odd to me.

Tape speed is fine. That's enough thought imo

Idk why he went undrafted.

He plummeted after he ran a 4.8 forty.

Though Field Yates made him a UDFA bonus entry in his article of five picks he loved from each round.
Yeah but you've seen the guy on TV how many times? Welp your eyes deceived you and now he's slow?
It's not logical how people reacted so overboard to it

Lots of well done rookie articles at the team site.

Also, Mina has a video interview where they discuss no #1 WR in TEN but Cam is a point guard so does it matter?
I think it does.
I think Ridley sometimes not running the right route and not giving best effort to grab a ball sometimes is a big deal. I'm hoping Lockett and the staff coach that out of him. Only rookies and only early do I ever want to hear that not in sync ran wrong route stuff.

Restrepo and Oliver and Whyle seem to be the only my ball guys. Ward's going to need a safety valve and they aren't likely starting, right?
Lockett's got it sometimes. He's fired up to be a Titan after growing up a Vince Young fan. That's nice to hear. We don't exactly have excited to join the team pressers unless they're rookies. If that fire and excitement for Ward...if the Titans can get an extra effort from him that could be a considerable thing.

There were probably 20+ third downs last year where the defense kept them in a spot to at least comeback and ...nothing. QB didn't matter. They need to value "chips are down" players this camp. IDC if Jahquan is a starter because of it or if he's coming in every third down or whatever but there must be some significance given to who is going to finish their route and "die trying" to make a play.

I hope Delanie is not on TV coaching in some other camp. Someone was dopey in not bringing him back. The year before, I liked the highlights and could tell what he's coaching. I want him. I want every retired gem to be allowed to come back and work in the summer with the players. I am 💯 all for cutting Chig if he doesn't get it this year. I still think play alot of pickup basketball and put him in the post. If he can't keep defenders on his back and alligator arms balls and doesn't block well- cut him or move him to WR. Patience is gone. This is a problem during panic time for a QB and it's not often discussed. A few times during the game broadcasts but it was every week. He's a gazelle of an athlete, but doesn't seem to recognize he's got a dirty job to do. It doesn't really matter so much if he's one of the fastest or more athletic TEs if he won't do the dirty work.
Whyle looks like such a great student and yes coach guy. Zero concern he'll learn but is he worth the opportunity?
The rookie seems built right. We're not worrying these things with him. He doesn't seem to be as athletic as these former WRs are but maybe Pitts and so many got us down a bad path. Maybe at TE we should value the tough guys and not the "my goodness look at him run" types.

I like listening to Cam.
He seems so personable. That he answered a Q about success with discussing tough times he had growing up made me ❤️.
He's confident but it's well placed.

He was asked about getting together with WRs to throw on his own time during the off-season. He said he already discussed it and told them Cristobal (I think) used to say studying is most important so he told them they might be getting together to study instead. He would. He will meet up but...OMG I absolutely loved that.

A lot of expected stuff.
I'm not Jayden is something he may have to say too often but at least he is. Shush on this topic.

TheZone people invited him to learn this n that about Nashville and he intends to take them up on it. If you listen to their show that means BBQ places and antique finds and classic stores and basketball games. Good! Young kids can get into trouble. You go do that and have fun, meet the fans etc. I'm so happy he hit it off with them. They're good people and .... probably overreacting to this but we've had rookies get into some trouble so ...

I really like the kid.

Callahan looks at him like a proud dad at his son. He didn't do that with Levis. Any dad knows that's a big deal.

I think I'm onto my next love. McNair, Mariota
..it's time. This could be the real deal

Who cares? it worked out well for us and that's all that matters to me.
I don't watch enough college ball.
It's too simple. It's too dopey.
There's gotta be another hangup with this kid and I wish I knew what it was. That's what I'm driving at.
GregR is wonderful. It ain't about him.

NFL teams are not just blowing off the guy that bested Michael Irvin and Santana Moss because he pulled a hammy and had a 4.8 time.

I think there's a genuine knock on this kid and I want to know what it is.
Maybe Cosell will bring it up. I missed his recap of the Titans draft.

The reason why is because that'll be what I look for all summer. Suppose he can't handle contact at the LOS like young Corey Davis. Then I'm looking for that and people need to ask the WR coach about it. If they coach him through it, then yes, we've got a steal.

Miami is too big a school and he's too well known. Something is off with how it's presented. I just want to know is all

Other than Ridley starting. I don't have confidence in anyone for FF yet.

Titans slots have been atrocious for FF and Callahan was to improve that with his Cincy offense but how did Boyd do?
I have always been a fan of Lockett but WRs go to Nashville to retire.

The Titans will sell that the slot is a good role but there are sooo many years of this being fools gold.

If Lockett is outside, he's good for FF. If slot, ouch.

Van Blockerson will probably sub on clear rushing downs and not do much else for FF.

The rookies have a perfect depth standard to beat out in Bryce Oliver. Hustle, ST, big effort, and get the darn ball.

Every team wants to set this standard before camp and there's a 100k reasons Callahan was shining when he praised Oliver. What if he wasn't? I'm very doubtful. I think it was to present a scenario that the rookies must beat out. It's a classic camp coach description too.

Jahquan Jackson had a great camp and then was in the doghouse for fumbling punts. He's no chump to beat out either. While Callahan has apologized and says Jahquan will get opportunities, I have doubts.

The problem with the rookies and projections is everyone had a place when they signed Jefferson and Lockett. I know the WRs have been weak and whatnot but it is still exactly as any team would want it to be.

4th and 5th gotta work hard, block, and do well on ST. So many of us have been wrong with projections when we glossed over this.

I think it'll take til week two of camp til a rookie doing well starts to matter.

Ya know what's gonna happen after they make a play? They'll call a series of run plays and it won't always be reported if they were a chump when it came time to block. Here's a highlight catch by a rookie...who also got pushed out of bounds and irrelevant as a ST gunner.

I'll take a chance on anyone super late in dynasty but I'm leery of Titans rookie WRs

Warren Moon wasn't just talking to talk. He's trying to work something out with the Titans and has a meeting with Callahan to discuss Cam Ward.

Apparently he sincerely wants to help but respectfully doesn't want to step on toes.

Vrabel killed alumni days some and the army stuff.
I am 💯 all for any military boys want to go workout with them and any military want to address the team.
Any former player want to teach them a thing or two or just chat about the myriad of things that goes on in an NFL player's life.

Delanie is interested.
Marc Mariani is interested.
Keep it coming! The more the merrier.

Great reports of working with Cam.
The kid is like reading my mind I swear...

How many times did Levis throw or the WRs run the wrong route?

Ward told the WRs he'll be on time every time and if they're late they're late.
He barked and made WRs do routes again then gave em attaboys.

*****
I don't care about anything Ridley or Burks, in the future, has to say about this- just get there and catch the ball. Let your play talk for you

Rookie TE Gunnar made some nice grabs in drills that caught the attention of reporters. Some saying it was like you could see the rapport build with Ward

Learning the custodian's name!

♥️

The Broncos tough defense is a fine week one matchup.

Let's not instill that the Titans are expected to have great results this year and all this hope.

The Titans have an incredibly underrated defense. Some teams will underestimate them and the game could be close and they steal some wins OR they'll keep the games close and get a few this season.

They don't have a WR they rely upon that Surtain is going to dramatically impact that but the rookie gets his first lesson of "don't throw over there much."

Moore being the starting LT is still mocked by some. We're gonna get an idea if he's a bust free agent right away.

I'm just expecting tests and lessons until they show they're not the worst team in football.

There hasn't been much of anything to note. I'm doing my best to not waste people's time. I think I've put garbage minicamp stuff up here in prior years.
There's a great former Titans forum for the players, offering advice video on the Titans site.

A lot of praise for rookies standing out.
Ward I've shared a bunch already.
Femi's motor seems to be undeniably awesome. OK it's shorts and...I think we can glean that from shorts. When the break, tough on all the others to try and outwork him.

The praise for Oliver continues. He has been running with the ones.

There have been a lot of scouting personnel dept moves that are pretty normal following a new GM and his first draft.

There have been 5-6 WW moves- mostly for LBs that play ST and may pan out with more time on defense. I think they all were "awarded" meaning other teams put bids in for them.

There are four UDFA CBs that all appear to be "players" and there's something to it as they all have gotten some love in quick Google draft reviews. Shorts shorts don't overreact to practices in shorts....I hope whoever in personnel is doing so well with CBs was not replaced.

Bertha is an OL sled that Daddy Callahan invented. Supposedly ya can't move it if you use bad technique and bad leverage. I've previously barked about it but a lot a lot of former OL that how review linemen absolutely praise the training apparatus.
So one day we got a lot of highlights and "what can ya tell about guys in shorts" aside, the OL and DL did exactly as well as you'd predict.
Latham I mistook for a DL. They're dominant and beasts with that and it was so impressive.

Why are they moving him to RT if he was (and did) to take his lumps as a LT and be all set in year two?

Guess how Moore did? Yeah that bad

What I didn't notice was coaching.
Idk what the procedure is here- suffer and learn to believe in technique to succeed? Ok then fine but otherwise I thought the coaches coaching was curiously absent.

Lastly, Ben Jones has been spending time with the Patriots. 3 visits already and many zoom calls with their rookie C. I get a traitor vibe reading about it but fun way not Benedict Arnold serious. Cmon work with Cush's replacement!

O/U on wins is 3,4,5
I'm not an avid gambler nor proponent. I don't expect them to do all that well.
I gotta say this seems like a fine bet to take the over if you can get 3 or 4.

One of the interesting things is- think on it. Does five give you pause? Yeah oof it's gonna be a rough year.

Very simple way of smashing some reality at the hope Ward and the rookies bring

Colton Dowell is the biggest unknown and such a weird player.
He clearly outshined Cedric Tillman and Jalyn Hyatt at their own pro day. Older player but his athleticism got all 32 teams intrigued for the UDFA.
He did well, messed up, did well, messed up...typical rookie camp. He was about middle of depth chart. 2nd 3rd string.
Then he got injured and ACL at 25 is not ideal.
Now he's 26 and only a camp under his belt.

He must look good
A LOT of pictures of him today must mean his athleticism caught everyone's eyes again.

I expect he's cut. There's like zero expectations.

Iit's still hmmm though that this kid is always catching peoples eyes.

I watched a lot of videos and read alot per usual.
Cam videos are pretty sweet. Still gushing.
He has an absurd ability to throw it on a rope like star outfielders do. I don't know if this is a good thing or they should be coaching to give the ball some height.
I always had coaches tell me practice how you'll play and have heard a zillion say it since so...

Ayomanor looks like a guy that fumbled a bunch or was drilled super well. He really tucks it in and covers the ball every time while most others are sort of casual.
He and Restrepo are so smooth in their catch and turn up field motion. They only were sometimes in tape I watched so I feel like maybe I'm watching improvement or coaching.

Chestnut (in shorts) supposedly made one beautiful move and then another and was off to the races. Callahan was cheering for him and enthused about it. That's a great response to first day out of the doghouse.

Jahquan looked slick again with his little hop he does sideways.

James Williams got in the backfield a couple times and there was barking at the OL. He and Reese, speedy iLBs, are going to make sure the OL fills their assignments for sure. That was a good first day hiccup I think.

Gabe Jeudy Lally made some plays. Last year's "the other UDFA" seemed to be quite active.

Darrell Baker Jr tweeted that he's entering year four and he's happy he just paid off his student loans.

I love that.
What perspective it brings too. What's in your mind of the millions they make and....here's a very hardworking UDFA all proud he did that.

What do you think of the Olines progression in year two of senior Callahan. Been a massive fan of his and it felt like at his last stop things really started clicking in year two.

For fantasy I’m targeting Ten RBs if they’re available at value. Also wondering if this is a Chubb landing spot due to the familiarity with each other

Love your work

Daddy Callahan didn't do a good job last year in the simple sense that they had arguably the worst line in football and he's supposed to advise his son who had the worst team in football. Ya can't sugarcoat "the worst" at all.

Year two progress would be great and oh so welcome. The Titans have had excellent lines under Munchak and he's a true HOF coach and played. Since, they've had some very good years but really stunk more often.

Moore at T is supposedly fixable with common mistakes. The tackle market was awful this offseason and he was one of the best options but there's some likelihood he's not good. His sacks allowed and Steeler fans comments do not make me confident. This is where Daddy Callahan has to- must- make a big impact and fix him.

Skoronski looks legit to me. His results haven't been favorable for a full season but the OL gurus show highlights and they all see it. The last four games he was PFFs top rated G in the NFL so maybe things clicked and he'll be the gem they drafted.

Cush is hurt and a probable late start at C and that's enormous with a rookie QB. They have longtime backup Levin that has started but he did not get put in as Cush's replacement last year and that gives me big pause. Why have a backup C and not play him? Other coaches did so why didn't Callahan? I'd expect Cush by week four and a camp battle by the backups.

Their free agent RG is well respected and finally got a piece.

Latham was a very pretty rookie LT that allowed a ton of sacks like his predecessors. Very much like Skoronski, the OL gurus point out how much he does right and his hips and feet and...it was expected he'd be good year two. Welp they're moving him to his college position of RT and yet spent last year saying how he was a left. All in all I guess I don't care but this also is a ding on Callahan if his position was wrong.

Skoronski and Latham were bad value picks but great talents so can't go back in time, make the best of it scenario.

The line is a very big question mark. Some of their castoffs have already been cut elsewhere and it isn't even cut down day.

Chubbs would be wonderful if he was younger but I'm afraid he's had his day and his career is over.

The Titans lack two essential pieces on offense- a target that's reliable on third down and a RB that is reliable to get that third and one tough run.
There is a major confidence difference between (this guy) can catch a first and Kupp will make a play. This guy can run for a tough first and Henry will smash and get it done.

Coaches and GMs sell this "can" and people eat it up but the NFL world needs predictability in those instances. I think these are two areas that could really help the morale including the OL.

Chestnut looks like Henry light in preseason for years now and has run with the ones. Vrabel had plans for him. Callahan put him in the doghouse. They need to decide now on Chestnut and if there's reservations about playing him then go get a bulldozer type. The RB market is awful for them but plentiful for teams- use it and add a back or two; have them smash into Sweat and Big Jeff and see who is the keeper. I have such little expectations for whoever they get. The guy can play five snaps per game but make sure he's a brute.

Pollard is not a rookie. We have whatever we saw with the Cowboys and whatever we read from their fans. It was very common to hear he's not Zeke. He's a very good player, he's going to get his yards. He's got a style we all enjoy watching but sometimes this sport is simple and it's just mano y mano toughness and they need a Rhino and are putting in a pretty running gazelle.
The Boys curiously added a couple thumpers after Pollard including Zeke. One of my favorite college players in Leupke and don't really give him the ball and he's supposedly on the chopping block. If if if there isn't a traditional back they like then I'll take Alstott light. What's it do to the OL when a FB is about to pretend he's Bam Morris? What if he gets the first?
See I'm pretty adamant that they add this. Ya don't generally add players for confidence as it's not a tangible thing and pros should be pros but we're talking s cheap player filling a role that's not filled so it won't impact team makeup or the cap.

As for Chubbs again, bring him in and see what he's got. Obviously I'm a huge fan and the need is there, I'm just expectant that it's over for him

Lewan threw out a first pitch and it was horrible.
He's being teased and taking it like a champ and..kind of fun on X if you want to read

Callahan praised the backup QBs then said Cam Ward will take most of the snaps in minicamp.

That's probably not a good coaching decision.
The fake air of he'll win the job is still workable and they've got a get prepared too.

#Titans coach Brian Callahan on Cam Ward: “He has a good feel for underneath coverage and underneath space … Middle of the field is certainly something he is comfortable with.”

*****
This is a great sign as obviously there's less n less he's not comfortable with.
One interesting thing Callahan has changed with us he seems to just expect the deep shots to happen or be a byproduct of something. Last year he'd mention deep shots and an effort to hit them and we'd see Levis' big arm throw them often (miss plenty) and...there's a definite change.
Maybe it's to let the young QBs know they all have big arms show me something else.
Maybe it's genuine game plan stuff.
Idk but I kinda like it

Just FYI, whatever numbers Wyatt says, that's what I always go with AND many others as well- including current reporters.
I know of reporters with tally marks on a pad watching and still going with Wyatt's count.

Dont get caught up in Ward threw 14, 18, or 20 in a row. This guy had that many catches. Just go with the hall of fame reporter

This I'm confused on now. I literally watched the video when he said this and posted.

Maybe tomorrow and on?

Moore left w non serious injury and was said to respond very well to coaching as such it's supposedly going to allow them to open up the offense some. (We'll see)
Latham was named best player of minicamp and OTAs so that's the year two progress you want to hear.
Cush says he's hopeful to be back in time.
Callahan praised Levin as a fill-in C.

Start of that weird time between mini camp and training camp where editors demand stories and reporters gotta produce.

Dan Moore is the worst free agent and someone that will make the Titans so much better.

Restrepo and Oliver are not making the team and being surprise significant contributors.

Chig is back to maybe being traded but also now he's supposedly a good player and they're going to use him more.

Burks as a potential sleeper hurts my head. Were there articles that this is the year for Trent Richardson to break out?
******
It's not that long ago that the Titans were bad. Mularkey and Lebeau were adamant about consistency and there were a lot of surprise cuts. Vrabel would follow with accountability and what he meant was attendance.

I'm really strongly thinking of the great talents of DGB and Justin Hunter. They were essentially replaced by a slow castoff WR from Miami and a backup TE from San Fran.

Walker would be a gem for 4-5 years. Matthews would make his share of catches and get about 1000 yards in a very workman like unflashy style. They were reliable though and the next step was to continue to convert third downs but also have more athleticism. Davis and AJB and a slew of veterans before they retired- there were not issues with catching the rock. We wanted more production and had other issues but you didn't doubt the most basic stuff.

I might cut Ridley to start Restrepo. Cut Chig to start DMR or Gunnar. All that athleticism is so exciting and the potential is so much but are the Titans really going to ever amount to anything if they can't rely on them on third downs? If their play isn't predictable that the staff can scheme some things?

I was hurt. I loved Hunter's potential and he even did quite well his last camp in Tennessee but...he needed to go. I really wonder if Chig and Ridley aren't the same and if it's gotta be ugly, then fine rip the bandaid off.

ETA obviously none of this will happen and I'm just rambling. I'm simply curious if any of y'all can see a parallel too

"The Titans are expecting too much out of the fourth round" was said on Sirius.

Well....yeah that's true but...I need hope and we've drafted a million tackles and unexciting players and I'm still clinging to it.

Jackson Slater is the highest rated Titans rookie on Madden. PFF also had him the highest.

They really liked him and felt fortunate to get him. He's going to be a backup. This was a nice surprise after all the bad OL picks over the years.

Maybe this is just me and timing?
I've read lots of favorable reviews for this backup OL but as they're in between minicamp and camp, as we discuss all these rookies and how some of them absolutely must do well; it really makes ya look at the hype and pause.

Remember Ward wouldn't have been the top pick? I remember saying they're looking for an awful lot from the fourth round rookies...there's certainly a hmmm pause point here too
