Trouble getting pregnant? (1 Viewer)

Got a call that there's a second newborn available. Wife is getting all the info.

ETA: So, twins, they easy?
i think they're easier than one in many ways.
Hi TF -

We here at FBG appreciate your membership and generally, you're a pretty good poster here, a good vet and guys look up to you. And while there are plenty of message boards out there for you to spew your spurious lies, this certainly isn't one of them. I'll go ahead and leave your post there for you to edit, but going forward, I will be deleting misinformation like this as it really could cause some of our innocent posters some tremendous harm and debilitating pain.

Have a gas at whatever it is you do, just so long as it's not posting crap like "Twins are easier than one".

In Christ,

J

"So listen hunny. This really pale guy from the internet that likes to eat a bunch in one mouthful (yeah, that guy that used to send me porn, that one) said we could save a bunch of time and energy by just castrating me and maybe sticking a tapeworm in your ovaries instead of fostering a second newborn. What do you think of that option?"

Okay, I'll bite, why?
first off, they always have each other so there's a constant playmate available and less of a draw on your attention if there was just one. I first started to see this when they could crawl around....and it's just grown exponentially since then.

Mine are both boys, so that makes it even easier in that they are into similar things, sharing clothes, same time schedule for activities, etc. Also, once they started day care/school; there's two of them there...so they always have a buddy and people seem to gravitate towards twins. Pretty cool.

For us, the first 3 months were leaving hell and then awesome after that.

So you're saying we should pawn the kid off on another foster family until he hits three months?

We're at 6 months and it's still a living hell. One's a pretty good sleeper, one sucks out loud and getting them both to nap at the same time for a duration longer than 30 minutes has been nearly impossible. We aren't first time parents, so we're not afraid to let them cry it out or panic every time one of them is crying like they're being tortured. But the noise they make together when they're unhappy is worse than anything you can possibly imagine. I mean, let's give it a shot - what's the worst sounds you can envision? Nails on a chalkboard? Alley cats having rough sex? A Vietnamese nail salon? Fallout Boys? Throw all of that in a blender and add some rooster crowing for good measure. Blood curdling, loud, horrendous noises.

Say, do you like vomit? I know you do! What do you think about TWO babies spitting up breast milk, yams and mashed bananas? Hey, and who here doesn't love a good blowout diaper with crap so runny you'd think it was part of the Flint water system?

Know what else is really neat? The fact that they know I'm not mom and I can't produce food. You know how the really hot sorority girls treated you in college, like you were diseased? Multiply that by two and prepare to embrace them tight if you're holding one and their mom comes in their sightline. I've held pissed off pit-bulls that were less squirmy.

You like quiet car rides, do you Woz? You know, the kind where the top goes down, a gentle breeze soothes your head and you can listen to sports talk on a low decibel? Those are out, especially if you have the audacity to actually follow traffic laws and stop at red lights. Apparently, our car has some sort of wiring that runs from the brake pad to the scrotum of our twins so that when we brake, they explode in agonizing sound.

I'll be sure to update this as they go. Maybe Tiger is right, maybe they'll be able to play together. Right now, all they do is plot my early demise together. They certainly don't want me having sex with their mom and they'll be ### ####ed if I'm going to enjoy things on television.

So you're saying they're the best thing to ever happen to you?

Update: Wife and I decided we still kind of like ourselves. Turned down the newborn/de facto twins.

piece of cake Woz...you got this
Right. :lmao:

I've had several friends consistently tell me the first kid wasn't too hard but the second was really life-changing. Right now with just one baby we can each take breaks and I can still have some semblance of keeping up with my hobbies like golf, softball, and basketball.
I've had it explained like this:

1 kid - You get to double team them.

2 kids - Man to man

3+ - You're playing zone the rest of your life.

The stork is coming by tonight so we figured we throw up the middle finger to GM and take a baby girl this time. She's only a couple weeks younger than our current foster son. Should be here in about an hour. Which is great considering I have a huge trial in about eight hours. What could go wrong?

Baby is here. She's pretty awesome. Her backstory (I.e. the allegations of abuse) is pretty terrible but aside from being bottle dependent she seems healthy. I'm also pretty convinced she's from the island of Brobdignag b/c even though she's nearly a month younger than my foster son she's like twice his size. Oh, and I slept for four straight hours so some semblance of sleep was had.

Only downside of the first six hours: she has a first name that has probably been mentioned in Tanner's thread.

Congrats, dude. That's awesome.

To bogart the thread for a minute, a good friend of mine just lost a baby girl they had for a week or so after the birth mother changed her mind. Good God it was brutal. Anyways, I shared a bit of your story with them including getting back on the horse and trying again and maintaining your sense of humor. I think it helped, so thanks and good luck with the special delivery.
Wow that's gotta be terrible. Closest we've been to that was having the department contact us about a newborn that was immediately available for option and tell us we were getting the baby - which led us to scramble to get stuff ready - only to call us like three hours later and tell us that a relative of the baby surfaced and is willing to adopt. That sucked but it'd been so much harder having the child for a week. My condolences to your friend.

Also, regarding humor, without it I don't know how else my wife could have avoided depression and our marriage remained stable.

7.5 straight hours of sleep last night for me and both babies. Little baby girl just woke up and was giggling and smiling during changing and feeding. She's content in the mama roo right now. Baby boy just now, with perfect timing (even gave me ten minutes to hit the bathroom in between) is waking up for his turn and he will be no problem. :coffee:

How old are the babies again? 7.5 hours is an amazing amount of time.

So I just learned that one of them got up at 3 am and I slept through it. :bag:

We got the baby girl in the middle of the night two nights ago. She went down pretty quick and slept for ten straight hours.

I feel like you're jinxing yourself with all of this "slept 100 hours straight" bragging.  If/when you get 0 hours of sleep in a month, you have only yourself to blame!

PS - Congrats!

I remember shuke posting something about his newborns sleeping through the night at a week... I asked him to ask his wife about this for that exact reason, but never heard back.

none the less- even just once for a kid that young is good stuff.

Given that in a short while I will undoubtedly be begging GM to jump in a time machine and shake the #### out of me until I dug my heels on and told my wife "no" regarding getting a second baby, I need to pepper him with as much ammunition as I can now since I essentially said "#### you jobu" to him and his warnings of twin terror.

Update: Still easy.  Still sleeping most nights.  Wife on FMLA and liking life.  I don't like taking the hit on my selfish time with golf or softball, but it's pretty sweet hanging out with two cool babies everyday.

Good for you two Woz! Hope things continue to be positive for you. I don't recall but are you adopting or fostering or what?

Update:

Both babies are doing great.  Still sleeping like champions and they're now at the awesome stage where they recognize each other and my wife and me so the level of attachment we have with them is growing.  Basically I'd be willing to lie down in traffic for either of them.  Our foster son has been with us over six months now and I couldn't imagine feeling a much stronger bond with my own biological child.  He's pretty much the coolest human on the planet in my opinion. His parents are doing good but not great so it still appears about 50/50 whether he will stay with us forever.  Our foster daughter has now been with us over two months.  I think we were initially guarded because we didn't anticipate having her too long  -- without getting into legal specifics basically one of her parents probably could have gotten her back by doing "x" but hasn't done so to this point.  But, it's actually looking relatively likely that we may be able to adopt her at some point.  Realistically speaking for both children, while it's possible that things could change any moment, we're probably at least a couple of months away from knowing anything specific on either case.  That said, my wife and I couldn't be happier.  She's taking them to Disneyland for the first time this weekend with her sister and her kids and their mom (which means my brother in law and I get to golf and drink beer all weekend!) and I haven't seen her this happy ever except for maybe around our engagement and wedding.

I have to admit, obviously we need to work towards them being reunified with their biological parents, but it's going to hurt big time if that happens.  As much as we have been trying to resist the urge to become too attached, it's getting much tougher to prevent ourselves from thinking that we are absolutely the best choice for these children and that, should they be returned to their biological parents, their little lives won't be quite as fulfilling. We've given them everything we could and the thoughts of potential lesser care in the hands of somebody else causes us to worry about them and that happening.  And since such an issue isn't the standard for reunification, there's not much we could do about it.  It's very possible the day could come that the child we cared for as our own for many months could be taken from our home and we would never see him again or get any sort of update.

having family that includes many, many adoptees.. who has an adopted sister... and who grew up with numerous foster kids in the home... what a gift   it's a tough, tough process. emotionally rending at times. amazingly rewarding at times.

takes a good person with a big heart to be able to ride the rollercoaster of emotions that are involved with the process.

my opinion of you may have changed today, Woz

glllllllllllllllllllll

My parents adopted two of my sisters. We had each of them for almost two years before the adoptions could be finalized. I'm sure that was a traumatic time for them. GL woz, you're doing a great thing.

We decided to take our last two embryos off ice and give it a whirl.  This last week, Mrs Commish had three blood tests pointing to elevated levels each time.  She's lethargic and hot all the time and a little nauseous....I think this is happening :oldunsure:

I feel like I'm on the initial climb of a roller coaster I'm not really sure I want to be on, but here we go! Can't put the lock back on this box  :oldunsure:

BFP = Big Fat Positive. She's pregnant
So little Norville Junior is arriving tomorrow morning and I'm celebrating this as my first Fathers Day. We'll be coming home Thursday and I may not be posting much.

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, encouragement, advice and humor. I keep fluctuating between :towelwave:  and  :help:
