Trouble getting pregnant? (2 Viewers)

Our biggest problem is my wife's plumbing is messed up...the tubes aren't lined up with the ovaries the correct way. I am also a little low on count. The surgery wasn't covered because it's "elective" per our insurance and the surgery to "fix" her was more than doing things this way, so we went this way. Her ovaries ended up being the size of oranges and we had 18 eggs. 13 were mature enough and 6 fertilized. I gave the first shot in the butt last night.
Good luck, man. :thumbup:Hope it works out for you.Incidentally, when we tried this 9 years ago they only had outdated mags in the "man room" but now they have a hotel style DVD system in addition to the outdated mags. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Thanks...we are pretty optimistic but also know that it usually takes a couple times to get it to take for the average person, so the failure is still in the back of our minds.

I am three days into giving shots. Avoided sticking myself yesterday, nailed the hell out of my thumb today. :wall: I freakin' HATE needles!

Transferred two yesterday and were able to freeze THREE! We couldn't have asked for things to go more smoothly. Now, all we need is for one (or both) of those little suckers to set up shop!

I got to spunk at home this time. Went to the place at the aforementioned 6:30 AM to find they weren't open. I was running around the building holding a bag with a vial of my own jizz in it for about 5-10 minutes. Seems the receptionist was late.

The counts were lower than the previous month, but when wifey took the swimmerz, the doc said they looked "like you have an ambitious group of guys here." So I guess that's good.

My wife is taking extra estrogen and it's making her crazy (and horny).

So the time is getting closer for us to start IVF. My wife is ready to start NOW! She has called the 5 clinics in the area to get prices. Has spent countless hours on the phone with the insurance company to only find out they will not cover anything.

The prices seem to range from $11,800 to about $12,800. Anyone have advice on how to pick a clinic? Will they meet with us first or will they charge for that as well?

I will admit I have been dragging my feat about going for the IVF. Mainly cause of the cost. I just kept thinking we might get lucky and not have to do it. I have came to realize that was just wishful thinking on my part.

I think sometime in June we will start. I was thinking of getting a 0 interest credit card to pay for it and paying that off for the next 18 months. Any other ideas of how people paid for this?

I'm pretty sure i posted my guidance on picking a clinic...it's somehwere in this thread. $1000 isn't a big difference, so I would pay attention to the success rates with people in your demographics, how many eggs they like to transfer, comfort with the doctor, etc.

I agree with TF, and he did a thorough job. When you think about the amount committed, and the profound effect on your life if it does or doesn't work, a grand isn't a big deal.To your question, I think the first one cost about $11,500 and the second was $13,000 or a little more. The drug costs are a huge variable.

I'm pretty sure we still have some of our IUI drugs (Gonal?) that, IIRC, are also used for IVF. for sale or whatnot on the cheap if insurance doesn't cover the drugs either.eta: lol- jeebus, I started that post to say good luck, and quickly tried to make a buck. Good Luck!

We donated our unused drugs back to the doctor's office that performed the IVF. We asked for unused drugs at the time to save cost, but there were none available.Wooderson - add that question to your doctors as you perform the search.

:thumbup:will most likely do this, if it hasn't been done already.

Here is Tiger Fan's list if anyone else is interested. Thread getting large so I thought I would post it again.

Thanks

• Reputation of the doctor/office. Talk to us about success stories

• Help us understand why the miscarriage occured

• Walk me through and help me dissect the issue why ovulation hasn’t occurred since the miscarriage

• Keep pushing them on the big picture question - "help us understand why ovulation isn't occurring, or at least possible causes, and what steps can be taken to determine the origin of this problem".

• Why hasn’t she responded to the clomid?

So the blood test was positive. Not only is it positive, the "number" they use (sorry for complete brain fart on the actual name) is over 500. For twins that number is around 300. We had two embryos implanted...what are the chances they BOTH split into twins? :scared:

That's great news. Congratulations. I'm no doctor and we never reached that stage, so I can't help you out with your question, but I'll :banned: for you tonight.

That's pretty big for the first test. The next test in a day or so will tell you a lot I think.Awesome news!

Congrats! Hope they 'stick'!

Our first number (twins) was around 750. I'd say it's likely that they both implanted and you have two in there.

Btw, we just got back from my wife's 34 week appointment. She has elevated BP, and is on rest from here on out. Likely coming in the next 1-2 weeks.

FFA is officialy on notice. /otis

I appreciate all the well wishes, however I was really looking for some:

"Oh don't worry about that Commish. It can easily be elevated with drugs they are on" type responses.

Very exciting time...hope you got all the COD out of your system ;)

So we saw the heartbeat this morning. Very cool and very exciting. We also go back next week for another ultrasound because there may be another one
Hearing the heartbeats @ only six weeks pregnant was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced in my entire life.

:towelwave:and totally agree with Worm. even with Floppo Jr #2, I couldn't believe how much I was moved by hearing that rapid-fire heart beat fluttering away in there.btw- we're deep into the third trimester with all systems go. La Floppita is a serious bongo/soccer-player and the wife is in the midst of :loco:  . I am proud to say I haven't bit once on her preggo-crazy fishing, and have bitten my tongue into a bloody, miniscule stump. But she's as happy as she could possibly be... which is the bottom line for me until that kid pops out.

I'm betting two. Usually they look for the number to double in ~2 days, but since it was over the weekend it ended up being three days, which would allow more time for the number to go up. Still, there's VERY likely more than one.
Yeah, I know. Just trying to freak him out a bit.I'm a little nervous that we may have two. There were definitely two sacs but we couldn't get the right angle to see if it was also viable. That said, there appeared to be definite and continuous movement that didn't match my wife's heartbeat. We'll know for sure next week.
