So the time is getting closer for us to start IVF. My wife is ready to start NOW! She has called the 5 clinics in the area to get prices. Has spent countless hours on the phone with the insurance company to only find out they will not cover anything. The prices seem to range from $11,800 to about $12,800. Anyone have advice on how to pick a clinic? Will they meet with us first or will they charge for that as well?I will admit I have been dragging my feat about going for the IVF. Mainly cause of the cost. I just kept thinking we might get lucky and not have to do it. I have came to realize that was just wishful thinking on my part.I think sometime in June we will start. I was thinking of getting a 0 interest credit card to pay for it and paying that off for the next 18 months. Any other ideas of how people paid for this?
I'm pretty sure i posted my guidance on picking a clinic...it's somehwere in this thread. $1000 isn't a big difference, so I would pay attention to the success rates with people in your demographics, how many eggs they like to transfer, comfort with the doctor, etc.
I agree with TF, and he did a thorough job. When you think about the amount committed, and the profound effect on your life if it does or doesn't work, a grand isn't a big deal.To your question, I think the first one cost about $11,500 and the second was $13,000 or a little more. The drug costs are a huge variable.
