Trouble getting pregnant? (1 Viewer)

I must have posted in here 2 to 3 years ago. Since then we went through the adoption process and our baby girl, Theodora May, was born on 8/25. All the right number of digits and healthy. We did domestic adoption through an agency and were able to be there for the birth. Took her with us out of the hospital 48 hours later.

As you can tell I am a proponent of adoption. Happy to answer any PMs if anyone wants to talk about the process. Good luck all.
Congratulations

Well, wife has her feet up. Got s but of a surprise when we went in. Doctor says the embryo looks great. I perk up and say, "so the embryo actually thawed well?" He says that they actually had to destroy that one and thaw another. But hey this one is great.

So the good news is that there's ideally a growing baby in my wife. Downside is that if it doesn't work we only have one left when we thought there would be too.

Five day preliminary test came back yesterday. Negative for pregnancy. Go again on Monday for final confirmatory test, but not looking good.

Rough night last night. So frustrated. 3/4 embryos gone if this doesn't work.

On the bright side, my married friends without kids are much happier than those of us with kids...

In all seriousness dude, good luck! Hope it works out for you!!

I have five and am actively seeking out bus drivers who aren't paying attention and recently started smoking again. Frigging miserable.

Woz, sorry man. I'm rooting for you.

I'd like to sell 3 of them.

I can't believe we're basically leveraging every free dollar we have for the chance to have one of those screaming bundles of misery.

How about you just adopt me, free of charge? I am mostly potty trained, am an excellent sleeper, don't need formula or diapers (yet), get along with most pets, can do many house projects including light bulb changing, sweeping, pillow fluffing, toilet paper roll replacement and am an excellent dish washer organizer.

I'll run that by my wife.

#### man, sorry to hear the crappy news. Remember that you're still young and it WILL happen for you. The road might be treacherous, but you will get there.

Looking at the positive.....raw dog, balls deep, no jimmy hat, sex is good sex....

What are the ages again of you and Mrs Zow?

Woz have you considered adoption?
Of course.
Only takes one it good be the last embryo. Remind me again how many times you have done IVF?

We were successful on the 2nd. We had a plan to try 3 ivf's then do adoption. It helped me to know that we had a plan.
We had a plan too, in terms of how many times we'd try. Watched a few friends just keep trying and trying without a clear endgame... Really hard on them. Definitely helped our collective state of mind to know exactly what our approach was.

Again, fingers crossed for Monday, and the future for you guys, woz

We are doing the icse version. Got 4 total embryos. First one implanted but didn't work. Second one thawed badly. Third currently transferred but isn't showing positive. One embryo left if this doesn't work.

Next plan is to explore fostering to adopt. Unless you talk to my mother in law who thinks I'm made of money.

Yeah, this needs to be nipped in the bud pretty quickly or it's not going to end well. I agree with the others in making sure you have a plan. We too had a plan, a program actually. If that didn't work, we'd have begun looking at adoption options.

32 and 30.
Still young... and still relatively early in the whole process. But good to hear you know what your options and plans are.

I've forgotten- did they establish what the roadblock is? Is taking the foot off the gas for a bit after the IVF is done (it will work, but just in case) and just taking some time off with unprotected sex on the table.. prior to moving on adoption?

Yeah that'd be the natural process. We'd probably move forward with the fostering because that's also a slower process and can always be temporary.

Two negative pregnancy tests over the weekend. Wife going in for confirmation tomorrow (I can't go because of monster day at work) but we've gone through the grief stages today. One embryo left.

Currently drunk. Feel badly for my wife who can't drink on the off chance all signs are wrong.

Sorry, Woz. That sucks.

If you're looking for other options, my wife and I used an egg donor for our first child after a number of failed IVF attempts. It wasn't cheap but we were in a shared donor program that held the cost to only somewhat outrageous and gave us a bunch of chances at success. Happy to walk you through the whole thing any time you like.

I'm sorry Woz.

This is still your first cycle and second transfer, right?

You might want to research clinics uisng the SART IVF success rate database. If you have limited shots, you might want to pay more for the best shot (like maybe CCRM in Colorado, which has very high success rates). Of course those clinics keep success rates high by only transferring under optimal conditions, but in that case, you'd at least have more information on what the problem is.

In any case, you should look up your clinic's numbers to figure out if two failed transfers is significantly improbable. For the two Phoenix clinics I found, it isn't. You should consider whether PGD testing is an option (it's normally not done for women under 35, but may be indicated if there are multiple failed cycles). I'd probably want to know the results of those tests before moving to an egg donor.

Like was said you have only done IVF once and still have an embryo left. Also you both are young.

Took us two cycles of IVF. I know it's hard but having it not work the first cycle of IVF doesn't mean it will never work. You are young enough to relax take a year off and save some money if needed.

We watched our diets did acupuncture and massages. Not sure if that's what made the second cycle work but who knows.

Look at our clinics data. 66% success rate from thawed icsi and we are 0-3.
When you went in for your initial consult and analysis of each of you, where were the "problems"? You? Wife? Both?

My swimmers were weak and all over the place and my wife had some issues with her tubes (suspect they occurred during the C-Section of our first child, but not sure). She had no issues with her "environment" though. Ours appeared to be a problem of introducing sperm and egg.
