Bumping this thread because we could all use a little positivity in these trying times.
This thread was a lifesaver/beacon in a dark time for me.
4 years trying to get pregnant. Got one of those fancy tech jobs in SF where fertility was covered (2 full cycles) so jumped at the chance. Ended up with 6 healthy fertilized eggs. The 1st transfer took and we were ecstatic. Told family and friends at 12 weeks. We then ended up with a mid 2nd trimester miscarriage was was utterly devastating. No one to this day can say why it happened or the cause. But that was one hell of a gut punch. Took a while to bounce back from that. (I think I read this thread in one sitting at 3am one night shortly after and it helped immensely). We took two vacations afterwards (Hawaii and Scotland) to mentally reset and tried again half a year later. The 2nd transfer took thankfully. We were super cautious and nervous the entire time. Had a team a doctors the whole way thru because 2nd trimester misscarriages are rare and they recommended high risk specialists (esp because they couldn't pinpoint the cause). Ultrasounds weekly until week 26. Then covid happened and we had to deal with giving birth in that crazy time. I got to be in the delivery room thankfully. Now we have a giggling 3 month old rolling baby boy and the world seems a better place no matter what is happening outside. 4 eggs still on ice for when we need them.
I read more on these forums vs post and there is alot of negativity. But there is also good here and this was one of them. Thank you for that.
@EZD222 just catching up on this old thread. Could you share the clinic/doctor team that got you the good result? Feel free to DM if you want. Looking in CA, but anywhere is ok. When I read the reviews for any of the top clinics, they all sound terrible. But I imagine a lot of people end up disappointed and emotionally devastated. I just want to find a place where they actually care about the patient, even if the "good result" is the longest of long shots.
Absolutely! We used
Spring Fertility up in San Francisco (they have a bunch of locations now I believe). You're correct, though, in that reading reviews is liking walking across a mine field given how emotional this journey is. Ultimately we had a bunch of friends recommend them and their underlying data/success metrics were good.
We actually live in Austin now and flew back to use them for round #3 (given the previous successes). We're now on week 8 of a successful transfer and about to get handed off to the general OBGYN. So they fully get my support.
The one caveat is we used Dr Tran at Spring. We love him, but he is a but cut/dry. He's incredibly smart and great at what he does but we can see bed side manor being a tad abrasive given how emotional this journey is.
