Haha!

I swear I didn't notice that. At first glance I read it as 11/5, not 10/5.

Although from watching him play, even if he won't admit it, his shoulder is still bothering him.
That's the spirit. Making up facts and failing to sell them.
What are you even talking about and why are you being such a ##### about it?So you think his shoulder is fine then?
Dude. Cobb hasn't even been on the injury report for a few weeks. He has himself said he's all good. I watched the gb/den game closely and I saw no limitations. Where are you getting this information that his shoulder is still a problem? Are you speculating? And then you post an article that's a month old to corroborate your opinion. Maybe/probably by accident but it looks bad and sloppy.
Have to say, using if people are or not on the injury report is pretty weak. Lots of players are hurt and not on the injury report.
And citing an article from a month ago?
You seem to be obsessing over a link to a report from a month ago, kind of strange. I am more than happy to share the link quoting Cobb himself that he will be hurt all year.

Randall Cobb admits his shoulder could be an issue all season.
"I think it’s a possibility it could be," Cobb said. Cobb has been held to 44 yards or fewer in 3-of-5 games this season, but is still on pace for 90/998/13. He didn't look completely healthy after tweaking his shoulder midway through Green Bay's Week 4 win over the 49ers. Cobb is practicing in full for Week 6. He gets the Packers' bye to rest up next week.

Or does that not count because it was from 3 weeks ago?

Every thread has that one guy who just seems to hate the player he is commenting about. Lets phone in to the Patriots to see how credible injury reports are.

I don't hate Cobb. I just love logic.

I'm done. It really doesn't matter to me anyway. When I started this thread it was BC I was still forming my opinion on whether or not Cobb was still a must start. That was 2 weeks ago. My opinion since then has solidified. He's clearly not until he shows me he is again.

Some would call that he has more catches than last year at the same point he does now and him being injured as a part to why he has not done great in YAC or breaking tackles and that TDs are tough to predict some pretty good logic and reasoning too.

But the reasoning I go off of most importantly is the question asked earlier, do I go off past success this year or talent moving forward?

Considering what happened last week has nothing to do with this week or next, I'll take talent every time.

Maybe you're over rating his talent. Some guys are just better as the #2 guy.

Then why does have more catches than he did at this point last year? No one can seem to answer to the fact his involvement is the same. Are you telling me TDs can be predicted and are expected, I mean, he does have 4, which is more than Thomas? Thomas has always been better and is better than Cobb for all the people who want to say "did I just compare him to Thomas", No, it just goes to show TDs are not a given or expected.

So taking that into account, yes Cobb is still on pace to do what he did last year with a few less TDs. But people want to complain because they are not getting TDs, it has nothing to do with his talent.

You keep comparing him to last year in his first 7 games. He had 8 tds as opposed to 4 so maybe that is why his owners were less negative on him. If Cobb currently had 8 tds this year to go along with the poor yardage numbers and those tds weren't bunched together in 2 or 3 games but more steady, I wouldn't have even started this thread. I would just keep plugging Cobb into my lineup.

Again, look at where people drafted him this year as opposed to last. Expectations are higher. Show me what cobb's fantasy points were last year in a standard scoring league through 7 games PLAYED as opposed to this year after 7 games PLAYED. Meaning not including byes.

I bet he had more fantasy points last year. So ask me if I care that he has more catches and slightly more yards than last year.

Maybe you're higher on him than me BC you own him in ppr and his catches have somewhat buoyed his horrific production. I probably wouldn't be as annoyed with him if I owned him in a ppr league.

Cobb is a slot receiver for a reason. He's not a special talent and never was he's just in the second best spot for a slot receiver in the league.

dude. We all heard you. 20 times. You're obsessed with his stats from last year. He had one great game this year which is extremely skewing his stats. He's been getting 40 yards a game for a month now.

Everyone is forgetting the fact that he lined up in the backfield several times against Denver. GB will find ways to get the ball in his hands. Opportunity is there.

Totally agree. I actually like that gb stunk it up in offense really badly last week BC it was a wake up call and you know they are going to try different stuff to free up Cobb and get him more involved moving forward. He is their best playmaker currently.

I just want to SEE it translate to fantasy points first before trusting him again in my lineup. I realize that might mean I miss a point explosion from him similar to week 3 but this week against the panthers I'll take the under.

PFF grades think he's fairly talented. The Packers think he's pretty talented. They gave him a better contract than what Jordy got. Unless you think Jordy isn't that talented either.

Randall Cobb WR, GB at CAR

For those considering starting Randall Cobb, who hasnt been very impressive this season, against the Carolina Panthers, think again. Cobb will surely be stuck with Panthers cornerback Josh Norman breathing down his neck all game long. Last week, Norman covered T.Y. Hilton from the Indianapolis Colts and he was held in check with only one reception for 15 yards and went scoreless. In order for Aaron Rodgers to attempt to redeem himself from last weeks disastrous loss to the Denver Broncos, hell look to find other ways to score rather than throwing the ball into Normans territory.

Rachel Wold (eDraft)

It has been a tough stretch of secondaries for Randall Cobb. He has recorded less than 40 receiving yards in each of the past three games. The Panthers wont offer any sympathy in Week 9. Last Monday, T.Y. Hilton only made one reception and totaled 15 yards. In Week 7, Jordan Matthews caught three passes and notched 14 yards.

Even though Norman dont play the slot and Andre Johnson ran slot last week with Hilton and Moncrief on the outside.

Hey man don't shoot the messenger. I know the stats and that norman rarely covers the slot.

For some reason a lot of analysts believe they will have norman shadow Cobb all game.

Didn't PFF grade Rodgers 5 TD game pretty poorly this year? Lol @ using PFF anymore. The Packers obviously like Cobb but it might be more about familiarity with the system. Plus tgey didnt pay him top WR money. He is more easily replaced than Jordy. He's good but you can't line him up outside and tell the defense what you're going to do and still be successful. You can do that with the elite WR.

Good not great slot receiver with an elite QB.

The point not getting discussed about Cobb here has been how subpar the entire Packers passing game has been since KC.

In 4 games since, Rodgers only throwing the ball 28 times/game and averaging less than 200 YPG Only 5 passing TD's in 4 weeks too. I think you started to see some of that frustration boil over a bit against DEN. Perhaps also a realization that they've got to show a bit more urgency in getting to a fix.

If you think the Packers passing game is coming back, Cobb's going to be a big part of that...it hasn't been just him, the entire offense had a bad October. But if they have a good November/December, so will Cobb.

the hope is that a healthy Adams gives defenses another person to concentrate on. Not all teams will be able to get to Rodgers like Denver did. And while Adams was out, there wasn't a whole lot of talent that defenses needed to cover. Adams is no Jordy Nelson, but he's a big receiver with speed. I guess we'll see.

Then why does have more catches than he did at this point last year? No one can seem to answer to the fact his involvement is the same.
Probably because Rodgers has had fewer qualified guys to throw to so Cobb is getting more targets.

Just line Cobb up outside against the #1 CB and tell him to go get it. I mean he has the best QB in the league throwing to him. What's the problem?

Oh wait! He's not a #1 WR he's a slot receiver. Hmmmmm

I wonder what Jordy'a numbers would look like if Cobb was out? I'm guessing #1 WR in FF.

1) Well sure PFF isn't perfect but they do a good enough job to have multiple NFL teams pay 5+ figures for their work.

2) They paid him top WR money for his position and relatively solid money compared to other WR1's.

3) The replacability of Cobb is baked into the price of his contract. In other words if a smart organization like the Packers thought he was easily replaceable they wouldn't have paid him as much as they did.

4) He doesn't line up outside because that's not what he does. He is, however, pretty good at what he does. One of the best in the league, if not the best in the league.

Cobb is a slot receiver for a reason. He's not a special talent and never was he's just in the second best spot for a slot receiver in the league.
So only tall outside receivers are talented?
Cobb wasn't valued as an elite talent by GB or they would have given him Dez money. Matter of fact he almost walked to Oakland this offseason. He's valued in FF as an elite WR1. I'm saying he's never been that good. He's was in the best situation a slot could hope for. Now that the situation has gotten significantly worse he's not producing like a WR1 and more like a low end WR2 maybe even a WR3. That's with God throwing to him too.

Of course he isn't as valuable as Dez. There are only 3-4 receivers in the league that are as valuable as Dez. That doesn't mean Cobb isn't talented.

You're comparing apples to oranges. When you compare apples to apples, Cobb is getting paid like he's more valuable than any other slot receiver in the league and has the historical production to back that up.

Exactly. I don't get the "he has more catches this year" stuff. They are force feeding him into bad situations because he's all they have at WR.

Just being a slot receiver itself is a lot less valuable. So this nonsense that they paid Cobb more than Jordy so he must be more valuable is just that. Nonsense.

Saying he's the best slot receiver isn't as impressive as you think it is. Kendall Wright would do better in GB than Cobbs doing now.

Fun fact: no 4th quarter targets since week 3.

No red zone targets since week 4.

StL week 5, Bye week 7, Denver week 8, and now Carolina week 9 have been a real tough stretch.

SD was the real disappointment. He caught a 26 yard pass in the 3rd on his last target, without that he would have been 4/1/12/0.

True, slot receivers are less valuable than WR1's to some degree. However, the NFL market is paying top slot WRs about the same amount as the top 10th through 15th WR1's. So they do have value.

Kendall Wright more talented than Cobb is laughable.

After seven games he had 35 catches last year on 48 targets and he has 36 catches on 56 targets this year.

"...Other times, Norman plays half the field, and teams simply decide to ignore him. During a two-week stretch against the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles, Norman saw a grand total of one pass thrown his way past the line of scrimmage -- and he rejected it.

Randall Cobb, however, is a slightly different case since the Green Bay Packers do such a good job of moving him around. Newton doesn't think Norman will shadow him everywhere he goes. And Packers reporter Rob Demovsky pointed to a game last year in which the New England Patriots put Darrelle Revis on Cobb.

"At the beginning, Cobb had a lot of trouble getting open, but then Mike McCarthy started moving him around more, even putting him in the backfield. Out of that formation, Cobb caught a 33-yard pass," Demovsky said. "He ended up with seven catches for 85 yards in the game. Not huge, but not terrible either.

Cobb had a quiet week against the Denver Broncos' stifling defense last week. But Demovsky wrote in this week's NFL Nation Insider Trading column that Cobb has expressed his determination to bounce back -- something he did after a slow start last year."

As a Cobb owner, nothing would excite me more and make me feel more confident to start him in week 10 than if he decimates the Carolina secondary on my bench this week! So yeah I hope he does well!

Isn't Adams supposed be Jordy 2.0? Shouldn't he be getting doubled and freeing up Cobb?

Adams, like Cobb, is dealing with a lingering injury.I sincerely hope that one day some of you suffer a temporary breathing problem, and your family decides to "pull the plug".

Obviously, it will be for your own good, because anyone with a temporary issue is useless, has no talent, and was overrated.

Lol.

Ok. I sort of sincerely hope... ;)

Speaking of nonsense.

This morning is the last opportunity to buy him cheaply.

Here's why:

Cobb was injured the first few games of the year, but is healthy now

GB was embarrassed last week and will be extra motivated this week

Norman will NOT be covering him all game as many expect because Norman rarely lines up over the slot WR.

GB's schedule softens up after today (and without Norman on him today Cobb will be a top 15 WR this week)

He was over-drafted as the 6-8th WR off the board. Nelson's absence clearly is negatively impacting his value, but he, Rodgers and GB are too good for him not to perform as a top 12-15 WR the rest of the way. I can certainly understand benching him today until he "proves it" - especially if you have surprising solid bench options like Diggs, Decker, Crabtree, or Snead. Get him now as his value won't be any lower!

As always, just my opinion. :)

Full disclosure: I do not own Cobb in any leagues but do own Rodgers and have been trying to acquire Cobb.

I agree with your general premise, but I think you're a week early. One more rough one.

If already mentioned sorry for the repeat, but Aaron Rodgers is my favorite player in the NFL so this isn't an upset Cobb owner but Rodgers hasn't been as good as he normally is. The O-line has not been good in pass protection or run blocking. Rodgers normally is OK, it's not like the line has ever been that great. He has been able to scramble around and hit his guys. Maybe the fact everyone has been hurt in the WR's is the bigger problem. It could be that when he is running around no one is open, but I have seen some un-Aaron Rodgers type throws this year. He's just been very unsettled.

I think Cobb and Lacy were the only bright spots against Denver. Cobb made some good catches and was missed on some opportunities.

Adams missed 4 games and then they played Denver.

I think we all know and realize Cobb has vastly under performed for many different reasons. Rodgers hasnt been playing his elite type of football we are a custom to, the teams 1a went down before the season, Cobb has been banged up, tough schedule, and the weapons around have been banged up and under performing too. Cobb has not played bad, he just has not got into the end zone consistently enough to please us fantasy owners.

The difference lies with the two camps, Cobb can turn it around and Cobb cant turn it around. Do you really need to see Cobb do it before you know he is a must start and what he is capable of? He is still HEAVILY involved on a team that passes a lot and has an MVP type QB. How do you sit that for guys like Amari Cooper types? If you look at it he has many 40 yard games.

I am almost begging with the naysayers to please realize, the TDs will come in this offense and I hope everyone knows better then to think Rodgers is still not an elite QB. Take the reasons I say into account because we are all fans of football, we all know Rodgers and Cobb are studs regardless of down play, so stop with the angry decisions of wanting to bench Cobb and if you are able to wait out this next week, just leave him in. The rewards WILL come especially after this week.

So a finality answer to this question of the thread. He is a must start AFTER this week.

Then why does have more catches than he did at this point last year? No one can seem to answer to the fact his involvement is the same.
Probably because Rodgers has had fewer qualified guys to throw to so Cobb is getting more targets.
Exactly. I don't get the "he has more catches this year" stuff. They are force feeding him into bad situations because he's all they have at WR.
Isn't Adams supposed be Jordy 2.0? Shouldn't he be getting doubled and freeing up Cobb?

I can get with this. I drafted Cobb BC I think he's a great wr in a great situation. I also agree he very likely becomes a must start again after this week. And I really want to see him come to life TODAY IN A VERY TOUGH MATCHUP, which will make me supremely confident that he's back with a vengeance for next week and moving forward.

Hopefully McCarthy schemes ways to just get the ball in his hands in open space today and let's Cobb do what Cobb can do.

I think he will be a low WR1/high WR2 this week. As at least one other person has noted, Norman does not go inside to cover slot WRs, and that's where Cobb will live. I actually think both Cobb & Richard Rodgers will be solid today in PPR. The Panthers don't have the ridiculous pass rush that the Broncos do (no one does), and Norman can't cover everyone.
