I actually think that it's about like a 13 seed beating a 4 seed. If you figure that at least one 12 seed usually wins a game every tourney, this would be a bit more uncommon than that. But not so uncommon as to be unheard of. Its just important to remember that in world football, the difference between the 70th best team in the world and the 20th best team in the world is way, way less than the difference between the 5th best team in the world and the 20th best team in the world. Once you get away from the very best teams, you're in the realm where the better team would win 6 or 7 out 10 times (with a draw or two sprinkled in).

losing at home is the bigger issue. I feel like Jamaica away is usually a tough game, without much separating the teams. at home... usually not as much separating the teams as this game, that the US did a good job controlling. outside of the goals.
that call on guzan... still has me saying wtf. I notice that kind of play a lot in various games- but when the GK is clearly outside of the box with his entire body (irrelevant to hand ball or not, but visually much more obvious). I've never seen this called.
