US Men's National Team (54 Viewers)

We're about a month out and things are looking pretty good.

Reyna looked like the best player on the field today and is finally starting again. That was a big goal for him mentally. Please stay healthy.

Pulisic came on and looked hungry and quick again and better than the attackers he replaced.(doubt it gets him a start still. He's gonna have to do something insane to get a start at this point. Maybe a brace in one of his 10 minute cameos) ..... FYI, there was a significant cheer when Pulisic ran onto the field today at Stamford. Guess at least the stadium crowd for the Blues' appreciate his effort the last few weeks.

McKennie looking healthy again. And still bossing on set pieces.

Key guys getting big starts and minutes.

I know it's not gonna be looking this promising in a month, but I can hope. Kinda wish the tourney was starting next week.

Musah went 90 minutes and got a yellow in a 1-2 loss against Mallorca. At least he's getting playing time and is healthy.

Very happy to see Gio starting for BvB. That goes a long way to alleviating my fears. Get another start, stay healthy and get into camp too prepare for Qatar.

Pepi went the full 90 in the win.

In his 6 games, he has 5 goals and 1 assist.

The 5 goals has him tied for 6th in the league but more interestingly, every one tied or above him have played many more games than him (most have played almost double the amount)

What do we think of Mark McKenzie? Only 23, been playing pretty regularly for Genk at LCD and seemingly doing pretty well, but I can't say I've really watched him play a lot.

He is a guy that has looked good at club level both in MLS and Europe, but he has never taken his chance with the US where he seems to have some really uncomfortable moments.

I remember some one in the thread here made the depressing comment after watching him play that this was why we are being force fed Long.

Gronigen win 4-2. From reading the time line, PSV threw the kitchen sink at them climbing back to 3-2 and then having multiple chances to level before Gronigen got a 4th late in injury time.

I was very happy to see Pepi go 90 as Gronigen used all 5 subs to try and lock down the game and for the striker to go all 90 it shows the coach must be happy with his effort and defensive work.

The unexpetced big win pulls Gronigen out of the relegation zone.

This is a nice piece on Jesse Marsch with tons of quotes from teammates and players he has coached

https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/jess...stories-about-leeds-united-s-mls-bred-manager
We're getting close to the point where he needs to start winning games like today. Escaped going down 2-1 on a woeful defensive lapse but Meslier made the save. Need to win games at home against Fulham types.

Assuming Jesse survives not getting sacked, Leeds are in for another long season I fear. If they lose today they are at the bottom tier of teams and with Leicester finally waking up, that is going to make Leeds life even harder.

If they're gonna sack him, may as well do it now and give his replacement a chance to work with them a little before the World Cup break.
ignoring the Jesse and Aaronson tie, do we have a preference?
Sevilla, too.

It’s early in the window but it seems like Leeds is getting weaker, not stronger so far. I’m concerned about relegation for them
They're in trouble but I think they're better than Bournemouth. I think right now it's Wolves, Bournemouth, and Forest going down.

Jesse's style is all or nothing. when it works, it's all praise... but that high heavy press can be beaten. and now that teams are figuring it out- and I assume the players are getting a little run down- it's produced this bad stretch. hopefully there's a wrinkle to it that can keep their game fresh and allow them to start carving out some points in these crucial mid season games.

Steven Goff

@SoccerInsider

USMNT domestic camp opens in a few days. Seven of the nine regulars from MLS are now available to report: Morris, Roldan, Zimmerman, Long, Yedlin, Arriola, Ferreira. Still active in playoffs: Acosta, Johnson. (Others from player pool, plus inactive U20s, to be invited.)

Mihailovic ended his MLS career with a goal today. He is off to Holland in January.

I noticed Goff did not include his name for the domestic camp. I was expecting him to be in the preliminary group of 40...

After reading through some of the other countries preliminary lists, I continue to think US Soccer is making a mistake not publishing this expanded roster.

I think US Soccer/GGG should expand the preliminary list to its full size (55 players) and release it.

*There is absolutely no tactical downside to releasing this information early.

*The list will function as a promotional tool for the WC itself that helps generate discussions (or arguments amongst the twitter folks) for the US team.

*Domestic teams can use the list to show that they are attached to players that are on the radar of the national team which can have a trickle down effect to the fan bases of said teams

*yes, GGG will be called an idiot for the names on the list, but he is called an idiot every day no matter what so not releasing the list does not give him any relief.

*GGG has said it would be unfair to get a players hopes up if they really have a near 0% chance of being called, but I think of it differently. I think most players will understand where they are in the pecking order and it could serve as motivation for some players for next cycle to realize they were some what close this cycle to being called.

I am not a lawyer but this can't possibly succeed in court can it?

TL/DR:

Dallas punished the player for being late by playing him down an age group.

The player suffered a major ankle injury in the match in which he was forced to play down an age group.

This punishment equates to gross negligence, and FC Dallas should pay $40m for the impact to the player's career.

How was he at any greater risk of injury playing with younger kids?
Maybe if he was forced to play with an older, physically stronger age group you would have an argument.

I hate lawsuits like these but if I'm playing armchair lawyer, I could see arguing that playing a player against inexperienced players could put the player at an unnecessary risk. I think it's hogwash and they are looking to cash in on an unfortunate event, but I could see this argument working if it was something crazy like forcing Messi to play with the PSG U17 team or some other extreme example that would never happen.

I was reading the brief and what you suggested appears to be their basis for the suit

Here, Defendant Hayden was acting in the course and scope of his employment for Defendant FC Dallas and FCD Youth. Defendant Hayden’s acts and omissions caused serious injuries to K.G.K.. Defendant Hayden negligently decided to force K.G.K. to participate in match with younger, lesser skilled, lesser experienced, and lesser developed competition, knowing that such participation increases the unassumed risk of injury that could easily lead to great harm to anyone in similar circumstances.

CP starting today against Salzburg.

What is Potter playing with this lineup? Will be interesting to see how he gets Pulisic, Sterling, Havertz, Gallagher and Auba all set up out there today.

God help us on USMNT Twitter if Pulisic isn't playing in his exact preferred position ...

Players attending the camp include: Paul Arriola (FC Dallas), Jesús Ferreira (FC Dallas), Aaron Long (New York Red Bulls), Shaq Moore (Nashville SC), Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders), Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders), Gaga Slonina (Chicago Fire), DeAndre Yedlin (Inter Miami), Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC)

Among the players not participating in the camp but who have been called up by U.S. manager Gregg Berhalter in the past are Colorado Rapids forward Gyasi Zardes, FC Dallas midfielder Sebastian Lletget, Portland Timbers midfielder Eryk Williamson and CF Montreal midfielder Djordje Mihailovic.

Google has him playing LM in a 3-4-1-2. I don't hate that if it's accurate. Fotmob has him on the right. Potter has broken the internet.

He has played the wing back spot before (which is similar to this role as a wide in the 4 man midfield). I hope it works out for him.

Looks like he's playing LM - kinda wingy. Seems like a good spot for him.

It seems mostly on the right to me, in front of Gallagher, but he has made a few runs on the left as well. Far up the pitch in an attacking role.

Yeah, as soon as I posted that I saw him out right. Then Paramount Plus froze again. This app is a disaster.
