"Veep" on HBO - Emmy winner, Outstanding Comedy Series (1 Viewer)

Gary on the stand was :moneybag:
:hifive:

It was so good, I was moved to tweet him right after the show and he favorited it.

Most people probably didn't give his performance a second thought, but it's not easy acting so legitimately frightened. As an aside, he was in the Sopranos episode "Second Opinion". He was giving Junior his cancer treatments when Dr. Kennedy came waltzing in.

Just started watching this season, moving the Native American painting led to some quality secondary and tertiary humor ops.

Another quality show. What a line-up. Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley and VEEP.

Jonah's crash and burn on stage was funny, but I almost fell on the ground laughing on something totally innocuous. They had just announced that Selena won Virginia and therefore, it was a tie on Electoral Vote. Jonah says, "should we let down the balloons" and they said no (since it wasn't a win but a tie) and Jonah's assistant says, "how about half the balloons". I don't know why it resonated with me, but the 'half the balloons' comment killed me.

I didn't like Jonah's assistant when he was with Amy as part of the campaign last season but I think he is killing it teamed with Jonah.

The congressional testimony episode was :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I sit through a few sessions of this a month and sometimes people are really awkward and nervous. So they say some pretty dumb things and this episode captured that, and so much more. :lmao:

I think this show might be the funniest show on TV because of the sheer volume of funny from start to finish.

:goodposting:

he's killing me this year.

I know she's not a fan favorite, but the daughter also works the funny for me. not really a weak spot in the whole cast.

The daughter is a real shark. Getting engaged and then not having a problem when he was written off.

And what's with those shoulders? Looks like she's got shoulder pads underneath her blouse.

The assistant is awesome
He and Jonah make a great team.

Another solid season, consistently funny and re-watchable since you miss so much in one viewing. So many little things like when the secretary said "OK, I'll admit, this is NOT boring" So much going on in this show.

So I'm sure they did their homework and I kind of remember this being discussed in a recent election, but how again is it possible that Hugh Lawrie can become President?

Finally got caught up on the show and it's still the best thing going right now comedy wise.Almost need to watch each show 3 or 4 times to catch all the goodness they sprinkle in.

If neither candidate has 270 electoral votes, the House elects the President (one vote/state) and the Senate elects the Vice-President (one vote/state).

If the House has not yet elected the President - as indicated on the show that some state House races are too close to call, so they can't vote for President until those races are decided - the Vice-President-elect will serve as acting President until the House votes.

This assumes that Hugh Laurie wins the VP vote, but since everyone loves him I think it's widely assumed he will.

Ah, so it's only temporary until the House votes. So he's thinking that if she accepts his Veep offer now, she'd pull out of the running in the House instead of risking having nothing?

Also, is this the first time that we knew she is a Democrat?

We're re-watching from the beginning. Such a great show, right from the first episode.

Returns April 24th along with Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley. What a lineup!

so good.

time to do our seasonal rotate from Showtime back to HBO.

Watched my first episode of Veep last night.  Not sure why it took me so long.  Reminds me of a political Arrested Development.

My guess is the show runners got every writer who ever wrote a rant for Ari Gold and gave them carte blanche on Veep!

Wife and I watched Season 1 last week.  It's one of those rare shows where I'm smiling from start to finish.  Outstanding writing and acting, all around.
Season 1 is great, but it is downhill from there and I think this one has run its course. For me, this show has a Batman in the Operating Room problem. Started out as great political comedy, now mostly an outright farce comedy.

Quality episode last night. Selena giving her party dress a work out was pretty hot. Then she turns around and gives the Colorado Senator lady the business - so many hilarious lines just in that one diatribe. :lmao:

Been catching up on HBOGO....episode 4 had me laughing pretty much all through the episode…best scene IMO was the camera panning to Catherine's horrible crying and then Gary (Stephen Hawking) feeling squeamish in the background.

Love any scene Roger Furlong is in.

"You're playing a very dangerous game of chicken with the head ####### hen, 'cause if I don't win the White House, O'Brien is gonna sink your stupid boats and you're gonna look like a hair-sprayed ####### in your 1980s mother-of-the-bride dress. And if I do win, I will have my administration come to your ####ty little district and shake it to death like a Guatemalan nanny. And then I'm gonna have the IRS crawl so far up your husband's colon, he's gonna wish the only thing they find is more cancer.""So can I count on your vote? Or do I need to shove a box of White House M&Ms up your stretched-out six-baby ***?"

This was like fine art.
