Dispensaries all over the place these days, if you're into that kind of thing. Or so I've heard.
They do helicopters to GC too. But, if you've already been, it is probably less intriguing. There are other hiking options closer to Vegas though. Someone gave me a good overview in this thread last year.I thought about this but had originally ruled it out due to the drive distances. I've actually been to all 3. I didn't realize Zion was only 2.5-3 hour drive. Could be an option.
A variety called San Fernando Valley OG gets the job done. Or so I've heard.Dispensaries all over the place these days, if you're into that kind of thing. Or so I've heard.
Spring Mountains are less than an hour away. You will not be disappointed. i could give you a hike in every direction less than an hour away and you would be thrilled and say I cant believe I am so close to the strip. Almost every good peak has a view of the strip. Waterfalls? Want cave drawings? Hot springs? Tons of desert beehives(ok I dont reco this one as it is scary as hell)?I thought about this but had originally ruled it out due to the drive distances. I've actually been to all 3. Not trying to bust your balls, but maybe try something different than just walking the strip. Take advantage of the place, basically the only city in the US where you can race cars, shoot guns, smoke weed, get a lap dance, take a helicopter flight, hit a pool club party... all during the day, and all within a short distance from your hotel room.I never said I couldn't have a good time, just that I don't really know what to do in Vegas other than gamble (which I don't have a moral problem with, just not my cup of tea) or the shows (which won't be running in the afternoon). I've been to Vegas like 3 times, and each time has been a structured work-trip/conference setting with little free time. I've spent most of my occasional free time drinking beer and walking down the strip. Big fan of lax open-container laws.
Big beer nerd here and will be in a similar boat in two weeks where we have two full days before football games start. Great info here, this is my kinda stuff. I'm all about the beer so this is perfect. That brewery and Atomic Liquors seem like great options for mixing in the Fremont St thing. Just the kind of info I was looking for....thank you!Big beer nerd here and will be in a similar boat in two weeks where we have two full days before football games start. A few of the things that we're going to kick around:
Atomic Liquors - wide draft list (doesn't open until 2pm on Fri though). This is on Freemont Street, a few block walk past the end of where the "action is"
Burger Bar at Mandalay Bar - good food and good beer list
Tenaya Creek Brewing http://www.tenayacreek.com/ - opens at 11am and is close to Freemont Street
You could easily hit up Burger Bar for lunch and a beer, then uber down to Tenaya for another beer, walk down Freemont to see the experience (should be more fun during the day due to the festival), then end up at Atomic Liquors. All that should easily kill 4 hours or so.
Other option would be to get a monorail pass and go up and down the strip as you please.
Racing cars and the helicopter flight aren't part of the bachelor party weekend plans, but I think the rest of those are. I'm just looking to backfill the rest of the time for when I'm there before everyone else gets there. Not trying to bust your balls, but maybe try something different than just walking the strip. But I also understand that's not for everyone.
Yeah, the overall brewery scene in vegas isn't all that great (per some friends feedback and overall ratings on Untappd). Another one to look into is Hop Nuts (it's on the way to/from downtown/strip (slightly off strip).Great info here, this is my kinda stuff. I'm all about the beer so this is perfect. Have you considered hookers and blow. weekend should go by fastI never said I couldn't have a good time, just that I don't really know what to do in Vegas other than gamble (which I don't have a moral problem with, just not my cup of tea) or the shows (which won't be running in the afternoon). If you end up renting a car there are some other cool breweries. Big dogs brewing(which is actually like a green bay packers museum) and joseph james brewing.Great info here, this is my kinda stuff. I like to party as much as the next guy, but renting a car and driving between breweries in Vegas seems like a bad idea. I'd rather spend my $$$ on gambling, so I am cheap when it comes to breweries, I go to Ellis Island ($2.50 20 oz, $1 during NFL games) or Triple 7 Pub (Main Street Station), usually around $3 for a 20 oz, even cheaper during happy hour. Obviously there is better breweries out there, but its good bang for the buck.
Triple 7 has great beer. One more...Banger Brewing. It's the Neonopolis development, just outside the Fremont canopy. Maybe a five-minute walk to Atomic from there.
I just got back a few weeks ago after not visiting Vegas for many years, was very disappointed in the beer selection overall. The big brewers still have a stranglehold on a lot of areas but I was still able to find a few places with good selection. Beerhaus which has been mentioned in this thread before. Paris had a "Budwieser" beer garden directly across the street from the Bellagio fountains, prices sucked but good selection other than just Budwieser products and great view of the fountains.Yeah, the overall brewery scene in vegas isn't all that great (per some friends feedback and overall ratings on Untappd). Talk me through this if you would. As a rookie smoker, where would these be? Are they out in the open with signage? Do I just walk in? Any tips/tricks/hints to not look like a moron?Dispensaries all over the place these days, if you're into that kind of thing. Or so I've heard.
Did you mean Beerhaus by T-Mobile arena?Buckna said:I just got back a few weeks ago after not visiting Vegas for many years, was very disappointed in the beer selection overall. Yep, thanks. I have corrected that in my original post. Not a bad selection, bunch of TV's to watch the games on, and good happy hour prices on drafts.Did you mean Beerhaus by T-Mobile arena?

They're just off the strip. We took a $6 Uber from Vdara to one. It was actually quite nice. Probably not what you expect. Yes, in the open with signage, but a quick mao search will show you have plenty of optionsThreeThousand said:Talk me through this if you would. As a rookie smoker, where would these be? Yardbird at the Venetian! It's been two years since my last Vegas trip. Heading there Thurs with the wife to meet up with another couple. (Not swingers) Staying at Cosmo Thurs night then Downtown Grand Fri and Sat Seeing the Michael Jackson Cirque show on Fri night.
My Eagles playing on TNF while we're there. Should arrive into airport around 2:45. Will stop and check into Cosmo and hopefully get some check in action and then will be looking for a place to go with good atmosphere, beer, food for the Eagles game, Last time we went to Unami Burger - Beer Garden & Sports Book which was cool. Any suggestions for this trip?
Anything else new and cool in the last couple years we should check out?
TIA!
Thanks, already on my list!... again, was on list last time but didn't make it over.Yardbird at the Venetian!
Just in case you missed the last 15 pages of the thread.
Just in general. I wouldn't watch the game there. Thanks, already on my list!... again, was on list last time but didn't make it over.
Are you saying its good for TNF or just in general?
I like sportsbooks but we'll need dinner and also have the ladies with us so we'll need something more domesticated.Just in general. I wouldn't watch the game there.
I really like the Venetian sports book though. It shouldn't be too crowded for TNF, and it's a pretty nice setup.
Lagasse's Stadium at the Pallazo is a great place to see games with pretty good food. It's a sports book but a restaurant too.I like sportsbooks but we'll need dinner and also have the ladies with us so we'll need something more domesticated.
They are all basically the same. Bet 11 to win 10.Is there a sportsbook that is better than others for beginners? Any other "tips?"
If you are going there, I would recommending calling ahead to reserve your table. I don't know if that is really necessary for a Thursday night game, but you definitely need to do it on Sundays.Lagasse's Stadium at the Pallazo is a great place to see games with pretty good food. Yes.Booked a trip with the wife for my birthday over St. Patrick's Day weekend. Anyone ever been down there for that day? Any cool St. Patrick's day stuff on the strip? Last year we went to a local St. Patrick's day parade and it was basically young people standing around drinking watching old people walk down the street in skirts with bag pipes.
Also, what is typical dress of the YardBird? Casual OK?
Yeah he's been at that game for 2 decades. He was at ceasers for awhile then moved to Mandalay. He gets some tv gigs now and then though.Enforcer said:Wife and daughter are staying at Mandalay Bay next two nights. There to see Stone Sour in the House of Blues. A band they both like.
She tells me they've twice walked by Pete Rose at an autograph signing. Said both times he was alone and looked awfully bored. I grew up a big fan of the Big Red Machine. Loved Charile Hustle. Will never forget trying to dive into bases head first as a little kid. Not sure whether or not to feel sorry for him. My gut tells me he's likely a broken and lonely man. Of course by his own doing, but still, he was all heart as a player. Bizarre that he's become such a pariah in some ways.

Keep in mind that it's also usually around March Madness, so it's pretty crazy in Vegas at that time.Booked a trip with the wife for my birthday over St. Patrick's Day weekend. A couple of years ago my wife and I stopped by Mandalay Bay and got a picture autographed by Pete. Took a couple of pictures with him and chatted about baseball for a few minutes. I got the feeling that I could have sat there talking with him as long as I wanted and he wouldn’t have kicked me out. There was nobody else there - I can see the argument for him being lonely.Enforcer said:Wife and daughter are staying at Mandalay Bay next two nights. There to see Stone Sour in the House of Blues. He does like 100 signings at that store a year.
