Week 09 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
This is where we ask questions and offer help.

Thank you to all the posters who come here to offer that help.

A couple notes:

I attempt to give well considered responses to all questions posted. I can't get to everything, but I'll try.

1) This only works if people participate. If you ask for help it is good form to offer help to someone else.

2) Please post the matchup. e.g. Cousins vs Den or James Cook @ Mia

3) Please post important league scoring considerations (e.g. PPR, super-flex etc).

4) Please go easy on the nicknames, save that for other threads. We can't help if we don't know who you are talking about.

View this as an exercise to help focus your thoughts about teams in general. Players you own may not be involved in these WDIS questions but certainly you will own players on many of these teams. Analyzing other players will help you identify things you may have otherwise not considered.

Let's move on to week 9

Caleb Williams @ ARI (27th v QBs)
Sam Darnold v IND (22nd v QBs)

Tua vs Buffalo or Darnold vs Indy
I'm facing the same question and between the two, this week I think Darnold is the play.

"Since 2018, the Buffalo Bills have an 11-2 record against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills dominated the series from 2019 onward, with notable victories such as their 56-26 win in 2021 and a recent 48-20 win on October 1, 2023. Miami’s two wins over Buffalo in this period were close games, including a narrow 21-19 victory in September 2022.

The Bills’ success has been marked by strong performances from quarterback Josh Allen and effective defense, consistently putting up high scores against the Dolphins over these years."

I think I may turn this thread over to ChatGPT.

0.5 PPR

Need 3 of the following:

Hubbard vs Saints
McLaurin at Giants
Downs at Vikings
D Smith vs Jags
Stevenson at Titans
Tillman vs Chargers

I have drafted and acquired an absolute embarasment of riches at WR in my 12 team redraft league (Drafted Wilson, traded for Jefferson, CD, Nabors, Puka)

I can start 4- need to sit one. .5 ppr, bonus for 100 yards.

Jefferson vs Indy (SNF)
Lamb @ ATL
Nabers vs Wash
Puka @ Seattle
Wilson Vs Hou (TNF)

I'd sit Wilson.

Struggling with the following:
FFPC scoring:

First,need a tight end:

E.Engram @ PHI
J.Ferguson @ ATL

Then need TWO flexes from the following:

K.Shakir vs MIA
R.Doubbs vs DET
J.Downs @ MINN
D.Mooney vs DALL
Engram/Ferguson,whoever is not my tight end

0.5 PPR

Need 3 of the following:

Hubbard vs Saints
McLaurin at Giants
Downs at Vikings
D Smith vs Jags
Stevenson at Titans
Tillman vs Chargers
For me McLaurin is fast becoming an auto-start. Since week 3 he is the #10 WR with, really no down games.

Downs is probably the right call as well, it's a great matchup and he seems to thrive with Flacco.

Devonta also has a nice matchup and the Eagles are on a roll. He has some volatility as the Eagles ignore WRs inside the 10 (figuratively).

Matchup is the reason I would wait a week on Drew Benn...er Cedric Tillman.

Titans still have a relatively strong run defense, most teams get steamrolled by the Lions, and I avoid Patriots if I have similar options.

Chuba deserves some love but Bryce Young is a liability. He was better last week however and the matchup is tasty. Hubbard still got 18 touches for 71 yards against a tough Broncos D on the road.

IMO your decision is between Chuba & Devonta.

I probably go with Devonta in the last spot.

0.5 PPR, need a flex:
  • Hubbard vs. Saints
  • Cooper vis Dolphins
  • Meyers vs. Bengals
I do believe it is safe to assume Cooper has better days ahead but Allen now looks like the kind of QB that throws to the open guy and doesn't force feed anyone. There is likely going to be volatility with Coop so you have to decide to either ride-or-die with him and capture everything, or play whack-a-mole and try to capture his big games.

I like Chuba but more so with Dalton. It is a great matchup and I expect him to see another 17-20 touches.

I like Myers just fine but I question his ceiling.

Depending on how you view Coop...

Chuba>Coop>Myers

Good position to be in overall obviously...but a tough choice (10-team big $ home league)...

J Daniels @ NYG (21st in my league Pts Allowed)
J Hurts v JAX (30th in PA)

J Daniels @ NYG (21st in my league Pts Allowed)

I like the momentum of Hurts coming off a 20 point victory vs Cinci with Saquon having an avg day and going in and out of the blue medical tent
Daniels' Hall of Fame Hail Mary, that ball belongs in the Hall, but overall Washington settled for 4 FGs prior or they would not have needed the heroics of Daniels on the last play

I would roll with Hurts but Philly is likely to get a substantial lead at some point
AJBrown seems like he has been quiet of late, maybe I have that wrong but I have been waiting to see him explode and help push Hurts numbers up
Hurts #4 overall and Philly isn't even in their groove yet
Daniels is somewhat limited with his surrounding cast

Standard scoring

Pick up Stafford who is available or start:

G.Smith vs Rams - he ain't great without DK and has stopped running
or
Darnold vs Colts - I lean this way with Geno possibly without DK again

Flex position - need 3

B.Hall vs Texans - ought to be an auto-start but his backup gets almost as many carries and Rodgers throws at weird times
D.Achane @ Bills - he's great but this looks tough
Monty @ Packers - can't bench right?
C.Brown vs Raiders - great matchup but he's been a bit inefficient

WR - still without Collins and probably DK so need one of the following

JSN vs Rams
Tillman @ Chargers
Pittman @ Vikings

Thanks

The question is only between Wilson & Nabers IMO.

I think it's a matter of which team is nearer to total implosion. I want to say the Jets but even diminished Rodgers is a better QB than Jones by a good margin and even with Davante, Wilson is leading the team in snaps and targets.

Nabers may be a better player but Wilson is still very good and everything else leans Wilson IMO.

Wilson>Nabers

I guess Ferguson. He seems to see a couple more targets, more consistently and it's a better matchup.

I say Downs for sure and I probably lean Shakir and hope last week was an indicator of things to come. Mooney would be my second option and is the one I would make an argument for over Shakir. But it's a total coin toss IMO.

J Daniels @ NYG (21st in my league Pts Allowed)
J Hurts v JAX (30th in PA)
Good options.

I'm going with Hurts. He just seems locked in.

It you can't go wrong with either.

I'll start.

PPR

Terry McLaurin @ NYG
Malik Nabers v WAS

I'm thinking it has to be McLaurin at this point.

Agree until proven otherwise.

Caleb Williams @ ARI (27th v QBs)
Sam Darnold v IND (22nd v QBs)

Darnold!

0.5 PPR, need a flex:
  • Hubbard vs. Saints
  • Cooper vis Dolphins
  • Meyers vs. Bengals

Hubbard is the floor play, Cooper is the ceiling play. What is the risk tolerance for you?

Good position to be in overall obviously...but a tough choice (10-team big $ home league)...

J Daniels @ NYG (21st in my league Pts Allowed)
J Hurts v JAX (30th in PA)

Hurts is on a roll, keep riding it.

No PPR, choose 1: Olave, Tillman, Downs.
And which one would you choose rest of season?
Thanks!

Downs this week with Flacco back. Olave ROS if Carr stays healthy.

PPR scoring need another flex, TE and DST fill. DST favors turnovers and sacks more so than allowing points.

My 2 starting RBs are Hall and Hunt
My 2 starting WRs are Lamb and London

Flex either:
Monty @ GB
Smith vs JAX

Leaning Monty. Smith has a good matchup, but Eagles can score so many different ways, it is a gamble that Smith will be one of them.

TE either:
LaPorta @ GB
Kraft vs DET

Leaning Kraft since DET can score a lot and GB will need to keep pace.

DST either:
Bills vs MIA
Eagles vs JAX

Leaning Eagles against a banged up JAX squad, but I know BUF always plays MIA tough especially at home.

0.5 PPR. Should I be sitting Adams? My WRs are AJB, Adams, Reed and Diontae Johnson. I could move Reed to WR2 then Chase Brown to my flex.

Essentially it's Adams vs. Reed vs. Brown.

Reed is in a rut and we don't know if Love or Willis is QB this week. Adams is the choice imo.

12 team PPR I need to pickup a TE.
Conklin vs Texans
Fant vs Rams
J Johnson vs Panthers
Dissly vs Browns

Thanks!!

I need 2/3 of them, so would you start Chase Brown over Reed in flex then?

This week yeah, Brown vs LV appeals to me more than Reed vs DET.

12 team PPR I need to pickup a TE.
Conklin vs Texans
Fant vs Rams
J Johnson vs Panthers
Dissly vs Browns

Thanks!!

Fant if DK is out. If DK is back, toss up between Fant and Dissly.

Engram

Mooney/Downs. Doubs is a no-go if Love is out. Gb also may have 3 OL out, could be a mess.

I would take Stafford with Puka & Kupp over either of those guys. That offense can hum.

I think you have to bench Brown but, you're right it's a great matchup and I think they will have a letdown after a big effort against KC and the Bengals are desperate... That doesn't necessarily mean too much for Brown as he is still in a 50/50 backfield but the Bengals could roll. But, ATM he's the guy I bench.

Your receivers are a coin toss. I think the Vikings are the best matchup and it's no coincidence Pittman's three best games, by far were with Flacco starting.

No PPR, choose 1: Olave, Tillman, Downs.

Downs for as long as Flacco is starting.

Tillman if we assume Richardson will play again...however

...if Carr comes back soon Olave is probably the correct choice.

If we assume Flacco starts RoS I would take Downs over the others.

Monty for sure, IMO. RB11 with one down game total.

LaPorta if Love is out. Kraft is low volume and I don't trust Willis to unlock him.

For the defense? Yes!

Speaking of volume it dawned on me Williams will be out again this week for DET. More targers for LaPorta hopefully?

PPR, 6 pts for TDs, 5 pt bonus for over 100 yards receiving/rushing and 300 yards passing, bonuses for long TDs...

Mahomes v. TB
Rodgers v. HOU (alot of noise dissing him and the team this week)

Thanks.
