The irony of you saying this is just too much. you've got a couple hundred posts on this board, and most of them are in this thread. You are fishing for attention by bickering and whining in a thread about how the bickering and whining is out of control. The problem here isnt that youre new or different. Nothing could be further from the truth. In over a decade here, I've seen hundreds of bad posters come here, year after year, doing exactly what you're doing, taking exactly the same stance that this is my message board too and I have a right to say what I want. I've watched some of those people turn around and become good posters. Most of the others leave. Sometimes, one stays, gets ostracized, acts like they're a martyr, and lasts several years of nonstop whining under different aliai until they give up or get permabanned. Youre playing the martyr angle already, which isnt a good sign. I know youre not getting the attention you want and you thinkus "old timers" hate you. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nobody is giving you the attention you want because you're boring. You think you're new and different, but we've all seen it before and for the most part, we just skip over posts from people like you. I don't care about the good old days. I just want content. I want you to put some of your endless teenaged enthusiasm into bringing information - or at least entertainment - to the table instead of bickering and attention whoring. I've actually seen you do it in a couple threads, so I know you're capable. But its really up to you whether you think you have anything worthwhile to say. If not, keep acting a fool and not getting the attention you don't deserve.I think they just like the attention -- whiny wheel gets the grease and all that.
a quick history lesson - back in the old days, the FBG message boards had a yellow background. There were only a few thousand users back then. I joined in 2002 or so, and my member # was in the 4000's (Member numbers were a badge of status, the lower the member number, the longer the user was around and therefore was respected more). On April 14, 2003, the boards were re-set. Not sure exactly why, but they moved to a new format or something. All of a sudden, the board background changed from yellow to blue, all members were deleted and had to re-sign, and the icon that indicated you have read a post changed from a black dot to a white corner. Everyone had to create a new account, and so you will see all of the old schoolers with a joined date of April 14, 2003.It is true though that we have a thread like this almost every year. I do think it is helpful because IMO quality went up after this thread was started....The only ironies around here are that you're guilty of exactly what you incessantly complain about, and coincidentally, a thread identical to this one went up 9 years ago - a few months after you joined. So much for the good old days.....
The black dot stuck around after the reset. It lasted until the next major board update during the 2007 offseason, which is when the white corner or :sehorn: first made its appearance.a quick history lesson - back in the old days, the FBG message boards had a yellow background. I don't care about the good old days.
I've been actively posting here for over a decade, and I've seen different crops of posters come and go. When I started posting here, guys like cracKer, JoeT and domer were posting up a storm. Joe got a reputation as quite the rapscallion for posting that jerry rice did not deserve to go to the hall of fame. The next generation to come threw included guys like rudnicki, who is on staff now, and Lhucks, who actually used to be a decent poster, until he decided it was more fun to rile everyone up with egotistical comments and critiquing the staff projections. Guys like goat herders and anarchy99 came through, and a long time shark pooler named ministry of pain doubled his shark pool efforts and started doing a weekly running back thread. Two of those guys are on staff now. Ssog and some other fine posters soon followed. Those of you who were here know what I mean, and those who weren't, please read on.Sometimes when people pine for the good old days, they forget what things used to be like. That's not the case with the shark pool. The new posters here are not following the rules.
Ironic, isn't it? I guess he wanted the door closed behind him.Posted 23 October 2003![]()
damn, you're like columbohey, I just noticed something -- fred's join date is april 2003......honestly, i think more kids and teens are discovering these boards which might be why a lot of people are acting like them.
Could be.Maybe I'm just a lost guppy, which is probably the case.
I see what you mean.I never viewed it as a new/old poster problem. Frankly the FFA schtick brought by veteran members needing attention is/was probably the worst.
I'm just really upset my Reshard Lee thread was clipped. That was the best thing I've ever done on these boards. Where's the complaint box? And did that end up in the "deleted permanently" mod category or the "well it's not really deleted, it's just hidden" mod category. I demand reparations either way, but if the latter, what will it cost me to get it reinstated?
I think it means the season is about to start.Since the introduction of this thread, the time it takes me to "clear the boards" has roughly doubled. Either that means there is twice as much good content being produced, or it means that I'm twice as bored and my standards are half as high. FWIW.

Silly rookies, a lot of us old timers have 2003 join dates because that's when the new board came online. Our member numbers were reset (sadly).Posted 23 October 2003![]()

I'm genuinely curious: if you were an "old timer", why did you wait two months to sign up again in June, rather than fairly soon after the switch in April?Silly rookies, a lot of us old timers have 2003 join dates because that's when the new board came online. Posting picks up dramatically right before the season every year.I think it means the season is about to start.Since the introduction of this thread, the time it takes me to "clear the boards" has roughly doubled. Either that means there is twice as much good content being produced, or it means that I'm twice as bored and my standards are half as high. FWIW.

I've been a subscriber for a long time, and I remember all these guys who are coming out of the woodwork to post here. I've never been much of a contributor at all, but I can say that the threads back then had way more to offer. As big as FBG's has gotten it needs more "policing" and in that it needs to be way more consistent. The older guys also need to be less hypocritical. If someone whose name is known because they've been around forever wants to start a thread that totally belongs in the FFA, they are never called on it, but God forbid a newb asks a question that belongs in a different forum. Those poor guys get shredded and locked out. It really shouldn't be that difficult to get the shark pool back to where it was.Act like an adult, be respectful, and treat people the way you want to be treated. IMO there is a big difference between "zingers" and complete disrespect. There should be some trash talk in football...both fantasy and the real thing, but you have to add content along with it or is a waste of time. Some people seem to come here with the sole purpose of trolling, fishing, and starting arguments as opposed to debates. The waters have been quite yellow in the SP for some time now...really hope it gets cleaned up so that we don't lose a lot of good members.I've posted less and less in the SP over the years. I enjoyed the older days when it was more content based and less ego based. Here is the problem:1) Most threads turn into a power trip with people trying to be correct instead of attempting to find a solution or bring more light to a topic. I love a good debate, especially when I can learn more about a player/team/coach/system.2) The admins aren't consistent. I got a "time out" for accidentally announcing a pick early in the NFL Draft, but yet others can purposely can jabs/one liners/mess up threads without adding content.
Exactly, if you just started banning these people it would clear up in about one week. Not sure why it's not done.IMO there is a big difference between "zingers" and complete disrespect. I agree with the troll here who's been put on *vacation* countless times. This place is tons better when Joe puts you on time out. If you were placed on perma-ban, the SP would be even better.'LHUCKS said:Exactly, if you just started banning these people it would clear up in about one week. Not sure why it's not done.'bbuster said:IMO there is a big difference between "zingers" and complete disrespect. Sorry, but LHUCKS has started more good threads in the shark pool in the last two weeks than anyone else here. People may not like him but he does generate good discussion if others would be big enough to ignore the schtick.I agree with the troll here who's been put on *vacation* countless times. LOLGuys tell me if I should veto this trade!
Maybe the guys who have known him for 10+ years might have more insight as to his postives and negatives.I haven't seen any reason for all the lhucks hatin' -- if you really don't like the guy, there's an ignore feature.if you guys have actually been posting here for 10 years I'd think you would've found out about it by now.
I'm 100% sure they do, which has nothing to do with my advice.instead of constantly coming on here and crying about everybody you don't like, that they should be banned, etc, you have complete control of banning them from your own sight -- let the rest of us poor noobs worry about whether we want to read him or not.that way, you don't have to read him, and we don't have to read you crying about him.there are a few billion people in the world, as you get older you'll realize that you won't like everyone, and not everyone will like you.Maybe the guys who have known him for 10+ years might have more insight as to his postives and negatives.I haven't seen any reason for all the lhucks hatin' -- if you really don't like the guy, there's an ignore feature.if you guys have actually been posting here for 10 years I'd think you would've found out about it by now.

Aw look, another young FBG defending LHUCKS. So cute.Guys who have been here 10+ years know the drill with the huckster. He's been banned more times than any of us old-timers combined; whatever limited value he occasionally contributes is mitigated by the deliberately-conceived disaster that represents the other 99% of his threads. If you want to hitch your wagon to this guy and follow him around like a little puppy dog, you wouldn't be the first. He thrives on attention, first and foremost, and feels he's helping out the FBG newbies with his shtick cloaked as authoritative opinions.I'm 100% sure they do, which has nothing to do with my advice.instead of constantly coming on here and crying about everybody you don't like, that they should be banned, etc, you have complete control of banning them from your own sight -- let the rest of us poor noobs worry about whether we want to read him or not.that way, you don't have to read him, and we don't have to read you crying about him.there are a few billion people in the world, as you get older you'll realize that you won't like everyone, and not everyone will like you.Maybe the guys who have known him for 10+ years might have more insight as to his postives and negatives.I haven't seen any reason for all the lhucks hatin' -- if you really don't like the guy, there's an ignore feature.if you guys have actually been posting here for 10 years I'd think you would've found out about it by now.

I do wish SSOG would post more, though. I completely disagree with him on several main points/arguments, but I don't know if there is anyone (staff included) who informs his opinions with deeper data/analysis than him.
Are you kidding?Generate good discussion without the shtick, for pete's sake. I mean, this is a fantasy football message board. What the hell are these people auditioning for anyway? You know why I resent the guys with the 'shtick' (Aside from SWC, who is truly brilliant)? I am embarrassed FOR them, which is the most uncomfortable feeling for me, and I dislike them for that. Same reason I cannot watch reality TV.Sorry, but LHUCKS has started more good threads in the shark pool in the last two weeks than anyone else here. It's true, people have been saying this for years.Of course, that doesn't change the fact that everything fred said about you was dead on, does it?You make some awfully long posts for a guy not looking for attention. And you seem to have a pretty close eye on what I'm posting and where I'm posting it for a guy who skips over my posts.Outside of this magnum opus, I wouldn't be able to id a post you've made or a thread you've made it in.The only ironies around here are that you're guilty of exactly what you incessantly complain about, and coincidentally, a thread identical to this one went up 9 years ago - a few months after you joined. So much for the good old days.....
It is.And if that isn't enough nerdrage for you, there's no shortage of internet slapfights and peopleThis should be an annual thread...
That concept sounds strange, but I have seen 100% improvement since it began(some of the old posters coming back also helped)
It seems like this served as a checks and balances thread to make sure everyone knows with people want to see and what people hate.
Feedback and constructive criticism is always good when used correctly... even when it's something you may not want to hear
It always is.This should be an annual thread...
+1This place is a giant mess of folks who either deliberately ignore the rules for A/C questions or they're too stupid to notice it and find the proper forum. How about we get some ### ####ed moderating in here? Start killing the dozens and dozens and dozens of posts that are blatant who should I start, should I make this trade, is this good value type questions that hijack every.single.thread.
Kill them wherever you see them. Edit the questions out, move it to the A/C, and leave a note on the post saying this kind of stuff doesn't belong in the pool for all others to see the kind of stuff you encourage. This stuff is worse than the typical LHUCKS post, and that's bottom of the barrel material. Worst of all, it seems this behavior is not only allowed but encouraged. Make it stop!
That's your problem to deal with. If everyone would focus on the content and ignore the schtick then the schtick would eventually go away. But ego gets involved and everyone wants to one up each other and get the last word. Are you kidding?Generate good discussion without the shtick, for pete's sake.
