Same, only if my team was in it. And so far I have refused to sign up for more streaming services just for a game. We already have Prime so that worked out. But I'm not paying for P+ unless my team's involved. And then I would only sign up for the one month and cancel.I cannot imagine paying any non-negligible price (15 cents? Sure, whatever) to watch any one particular football game unless the Bengals were in it.
is that true? I heard Peacock, not Paramount+One playoff game will be on Paramount+ this year.

Sorry, I get those two confused. I believe it is Peacock.is that true? I heard Peacock, not Paramount+One playoff game will be on Paramount+ this year.
From what I have heard, home markets will be allowed to show it on their antenna tv NBC affiliate.Sorry, I get those two confused. I believe it is Peacock.is that true? I heard Peacock, not Paramount+One playoff game will be on Paramount+ this year.
I would think so, just within reason. I think 2 30 sec spots on a turnover or punt/downs is what they are shooting for.The NFL game is built around advertising breaks and timeouts. Its really hard to imagine the flow of an NFL game without numerous regular commercial breaks. Or is the suggestion customers would pay for the game and still have to sit through commercials?
True, there is a sharp difference between regular ad rates and SB ad rates. They may not want to risk this golden gooseThe NFL game is built around advertising breaks and timeouts. probably not, but I hadn't considered the possibility of commercials. That might make up the money, though I still doubt they could get enough people to pay enough dollars to make it worth it, at least not for a decade. It would seem the advertising dollar loss might be more than the PPV gain.
That's probably why it's floated out this far in advance.
Even if the commercials are all still there, people that watch for the commercials aren't going to pay to watch commercials, are they??
Good point. Commercials have been a landmine for cable for decades. HBO, Showtime, etc. They have navigated that landscape going on years now. Add Peacock and MAX (HBO), and Peacock + , AMC + . Where does it end? It will be soon. Probably with no comercials first for a fee then watch at a cost with commercials but it is comming I fear. For all of us.Also, I'm not sure how soon it could realistically be PPV. How many people would pay for it and at what price? I think it would be hard to get the right price point that would get enough people to make up for what the NFL currently makes on it based on the current system. The annual rights fees paid by the networks are driven significantly by the fact that they get a Super Bowl, the best rated event of all TV.
I remember in the 80s going to Rupp Arena to watch PPV Hearns vs Durán fight. It was expensive. Perhaps bars / businesses would get charged more and the bars would charge a fee to watch?I'll go to a bar and watch it.

Yeah I don't even watch most of the evening games, just look at the highlights online the next morning. Saturday and Sunday afternoon I mix my home team with RedZone and whoever is showing half time highlights in college. The commercials are infuriating. That's why I love red zone so much. I watch Saints games and red zone. That's it. I really can't stay awake anymore for Monday or Thursday games because of the endless non stop commercials. I fall asleep in my chair almost every time.
My understanding is that one game will be peacock only (other than in the 2 local markets)is that true? I heard Peacock, not Paramount+One playoff game will be on Paramount+ this year.

Right. Peacock is one of the streaming services we have. It’s been worth it.You can usually get peacock for a month for like $1.99, so I wouldn’t be too worried
Not sure the old fat cats care about the future.I would probably go to a party and toss in a few bucks to split the cost. It would make money in the short term but be a long term net negative for the sport. See boxing.
This was my thought. The ol' UFC, boxing, WWF PPV technique. Get your friend with the best TV/living room set up to buy it and everyone else chips in.I would probably go to a party and toss in a few bucks to split the cost. MoP would pay top dollar to remove all scrolling tickers on the bottom of the screen. The commercials are infuriating. That's why I love red zone so much. I watch Saints games and red zone. That's it. I would happily and enthusiastically pay cash or subscription prices to eliminate the ads. I don't see how they could do it for just one game though. Those commercial breaks are planned time outs for the players and coaches, and they would have to approach the whole game differently. I think it would be tough to make big changes like that for just one week.

I would like the ability to remove the game clock, score, all of it so I could enjoy the full view of my TV screen without any ads of any kind.
If I really need a live update or clock winding down late, let me decide when that gets plastered across the bottom or one of the corners.

i know i'm not typical, but i so disagree that the Super Bowl is what the NFL is all about. i strongly dislike the constant over hyped spectacle of that event, and haven't watched it live in at least a half dozen years.I think the people that decide not to pay and so don't watch would tend to walk away from football all together. Why pay attention if you can't see the game that it's all about.
