I'd love to try it. Just too much for me. I'd trade off cellar beers for it. Other than that, hope I run in to it somewhere. And I don't blame them for pricing at ll. I'm a supply and demand guy. Demand has gotten us here, and it will take us further.

I had another awesome weekend of beer drinking in Colorado. I went up to the mountains to do some hiking and camping and to go to the Casey Brewing and Blending October release in Glenwood Springs. One of my friends that went with me just got an interview for a position as a regional sales director for Firestone Walker, so I broke out a couple barrel-aged FW beers from my cellar to celebrate and to help my friend prepare for the interview:
Firestone Walker Parabola imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels (2014) - One of my all-time favorite beers and perhaps my favorite bourbon barrel-aged stout ever. It's so rich and complex with tons of barrel character, yet so smooth with practically no heat with a year and a half of age on it. Rich dark chocolate fudge, charred oak, bourbon, vanilla, roasted coffee, dark fruits, dark cherry, oats, caramel, and molasses. Just awesome.

Had a lot of catching up to do in this thread. It was a pleasure to meet Sebowski at the festival this year.
If there is any chance you could send out some of that sour saison, let me know. On about half of the breaks I took, I ponied back up to Sebowski's brewery and kicked another ounce of it back. Absolutely delicious.

CCB vs. 3 Floyds: The Tap Takeovers Posted on October 6, 2015 by Cigar City Brewing
As you remember from an earlier blog post, we promised tap takeovers of 3 Floyds beer here at CCB and our beer up at 3 Floyds. Here’s the big details:
Monday, November 2nd, CCB takes over the taps at 3 Floyds in Munster, Indiana
Monday, November 9th, 3 Floyds takes over the taps at CCB in Tampa, Florida
Both tap takeovers will be ticketed. We do not have ticket pricing information yet. We do not have finalized beer lists for each event. We do not have exact times lined up for the events yet. We will announce the details on all fronts as soon as we lock everything up.

I've got no problem with the pricing or the folks who pursue this stuff, but I won't be. I think the most I've ever spent for a take-home drink is a $120 bottle of scotch. Not going to do the math, but I'm pretty sure this GI beer would top that on cost per ounce.

Crank IPA. This beer has changed. Its gotta be a new recipe. More bitter and dank than ever before, and clear as a bell...nowhere near juicy as before. Its still delicious, but this aint the Crank I know. Its different enough, I couldnt have picked it out of a lineup...Im all for tweaking recipes a bit form time to time, but call it something else if it lands this far form the original.
Also, the sour game in Tampa Bay just got ramped up...Orange Belt Brewing is a "new" brewery at Pegs Cantina, which is where Cycle was born...Cycle's head brewer Eric has branched out and started his own brewery out of Cycles old spot, and he's focusing on sours - I missed the first few of their releases (which have been on tap at Cycle, including a Lime Gose, a Blueberry-Coconut, a Strawberry Rhubarb, and a Raspberry Berliner), but picked up a crowler of See How It Gose, a collab with 7venth Sun, brewed with orange zest and salt, then "generously dry hopped with Simcoe and Citra". SCHWING!

Nah, Crank is Doug's beer. I think its the new facility theyre growing into. Ill ask about it next time Im there.
Meanwhile, I just cracked a crowler of their Home Alone II: Electric Boogaloo IPA...out. #######. standing. Reminds me of a Going Away or one of those dank crushable Chicago beers. I hope they keep this one around for a bit, it would give Crank a run for my money. So good.

Heading out to 3 Floyds tomorrow. One of their guest taps is Big Bad Baptist so want to try this. They also have Pear Bear on tap, a new sour that is getting good reviews. Not a big sour fan but can't wait to try this. Maybe this is my gateway sour....I fear for my wallet if that's the case.

Ballast Point Ocktoberfest Dead Ringer is a very tasty beer. I always like to try out new beers in this style this time of year and this one does not disappoint. Best domestic Ocktoberfest I've had.
