What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Great North Aleworks Robust Vanilla Porter

Cycle Crank IPA

Goose Island Sofie

Variety is the spice of life, mofos!

Bought 18 12-packs of Celebration and 7 24-packs of Flying Bison Aviator Red for my wedding this past weekend. That's pretty much all I've had in the last few days.

I have 6 Celebration 12-packs and 2 cases of Aviator Red leftover. Time to give out some gifts.
Now, that's a wedding. Congrats!

Wife brought me some oskar blues death by coconut Irish Porter last night. Not bad. Had more coconut than noda coco loco but was missing a bit of the coco loco bite.

tried a Pretty Things "Fumapappa" Russian imperial stout lastnight. very good RIS IMO.
Pretty Things supply will be disappearing soon :sadbanana:
why? what happened?
This
Sucks. I tried a couple of their beers at the St Pete Shelton Bros fest...good stuff.
1 of my to places has their updated list with fumapapa so I guess there is hope for a last stock up so to speak.

PW is releasing their 4 BA beers on Monday, The End of Days sounds very interesting. Just remembered that I still have a Jones Dog in the fridge from last year that I need to crack.

The Final Act - Grand Guignol Act 1 Imperial Stout aged in 12 year Elijah Craig bourbon barrels.

The Hyper Dog - Bourbon barrel aged Imperial milk stout brewed with cacao nibs, vanilla, and Dark Matter Coffee

The Jones Dog - 12 year Elijah Craig bourbon barrel aged Imperial Milk Stout brewed with cacao nibs and vanilla beans

The End of Days - 12 year Elijah Craig bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout brewed with cacao nibs, vanilla beans, chilies, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

I split a 750 of the Gin Barrel-Aged O-Gii with a friend from the brewery Saturday - fresh off its gold medal at the Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged beers last month. One of the best, most interesting beers of the year for me.

Alesmith Speedway Stout with Vietnamese Coffee

Alpine Pure Hoppiness imperial IPA

Pipeworks Ninja vs. Unicorn imperial IPA

The Pipeworks NvU was really good, but I thought that Alpine's Pure Hoppiness was significantly better. The Alesmith Vietnamese Coffee was really fantastic as well.

I just went to Cellarmaker Brewing in San Francisco. They make a lot of great IPAs with various combinations of some of my favorite hops -- Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, and Nelson Sauvin. It would definitely be one of my local hangouts if I lived in San Francisco.

Those guys are fantastic. Love everything they do. Been up there twice, and they've sent some beer down here a few times as well.

When are you coming to San Diego?

A collaboration between 4 Hands, Stone and Bale Breaker called Sorry Not Sorry IPA, a dips with peaches. The peaches were subtle, this is definitely worth checking out.

It reminded me that I had Bale Breakers Top Cutter IPA when I was in Oregon a few months ago and thought it was the best beer I enjoyed the entire trip. Would definitely like to check out more of their offerings.

I really enjoyed it, one of Stone's better collabs IMO.

Wha...
Barrel aged RIS, 14.5% ABV...I only had a taste...but am developing a taste for BA Stouts. Scary, I know...just what I need - another addiction.
Right there with you. Looks to be a potentially costly endeavor too...

Love, love, love BA RIS! :excited:

New Holland has a few that I tried recently that I thought were excellent. They are the Dragon's Milk Reserve With Coffee & Chocolate and Dragon's Milk Reserve With Raspberries.

I had a great evening of drinking in San Francisco last night at City Beer Store, Mikkeler Bar, and Toronado:

Cantillon Fou' Foune lambic with apricots (incredible beer - I was stoked to see a bottle behind the bar at City Beer Store and to meet a few people willing to go in together for the $80 bottle to share)

Fieldwork Good Conduct imperial brown ale with maple aged in bourbon barrels

Altamont Maui Wowie IPA

BFM Square root 225 saison aged in oak barrels

Mikkeler Spontangreenapple spontaneous wild ale with green apple

Alpine Pure Hoppiness imperial IPA

Russian River Pliny the Elder imperial IPA

Alpine Duet IPA

I'm planning on trying to head over to Berkeley now to go check out the Rare Barrel and Fieldwork.

Just grabbed a GI Brewmasters Reserve mixed case at Costco -- 4 each of:

Sofie

Matilda

Pepe Nero

Pere Jacques

Shred the Gnar

Rasselbock

Picked up a bunch of good stuff today:

Surly Darkness

Founders PAM

Off Color DinoSmores

HA Double Daisy Cutter

PW Killer Queen

Hailstorm La Petite Saison De Framboise

Started off tonight with Shred the Gnar -- hadn't tried it before. "Imperial Rye IPA brewed with Lemongrass and Tart Michigan Cherries." Very malt-forward for an IPA, not at all what I was expecting -- still damn good though. Spicy rye really comes through, and very subtle sour cherry (a good thing as IMO most cherry beers suck d/t overpowering cherry) and citrus. Not really an IPA IMO, but really good and possibly the most drinkable 9% beer I've ever had. Will absolutely buy again.

Got some Pivo Pils, Modern Times City of the Sun, and Pizza Port Ponto cans for the fights tonight.
Pure Happiness (intentional typo) for the fights...but I think we are watching different fights.
Ah. You're watching the punchers dance around, and I'm watching fights? :pokey:

ETA: Ouch. I can't look at that emoticon. That stick is going right in the eyeball!

You mean you are watching the guys grope each other on the ground and I'm watching the fights?

In seriousness, thanks for turning me on to Alpine. If not for you and this thread, I'm not sure I would have had any clue what it was when it came to Michigan.

Joined Solemn Oath's The Old Order today. It's their BA beer membership limited to 255, very intrigued on how this will go. 9 bottles the first year plus exclusive access to limited releases before the public.

Interesting. Just checking it out, seems like they specialize in Belgian beers. Any idea what kind of BA stuff they are making?

Yeah but they have some really nice IPAs which is very...odd. They make all sorts of crazy ### BA and this is a total surprise what your getting outside of their annual seventh seal release. Not a bad deal 175 for 9 BA bombers...like getting 2 bottles free, plus a tulip glass and some other member exclusive member events. Willing to see if it's worth it.

So the beer is good? Great? I'm just wondering because I have family in the area and if the beer is worth it, I would consider paying for it.

:suds:
Definitely one, if not, the best collection of IPAs out there.
Glad you got to try the OG stuff. And also glad the new stuff is getting better and better. Sometimes even spot on.
Yeah, OG stuff was amazing. New stuff has been great. I didn't have enough of the OG stuff to make a legit comparison. I just know I like it a lot.

TBH only going on reputation of from a few guys I know that have it. Got the membership today and then their Snaggletooth Bandana, which is an IPA that is very good, but have not had their BA beer. To me it was worth the gamble and if their BA is as good as this Snaggletooth happy I joined.. According to Twitter they were down to 45 memberships left an hour ago.
