What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

I have not but feel free to send a couple of bottles my way for testing.
Would gladly trade anytime for some cool Chicago only stuff. The Flying Buffalo stuff is starting to gain a following in Michigan. I put it on par with Bourbon County.

Eff you, GB...  ;)

We're looking at a high below zero tomorrow with wind chills under -20, plus even more snow and likely ice storms to top it off. I already can't feel my toes just thinking about it -- gonna need to be drunk just to survive going outside to clear the driveway.
Underestimated it -- negative 15 here this morning with a wind chill of negative 28. Taking the dog out to pee at 5:30 am in pajama pants and slippers = not recommended. Hoping my nuts drop back down sometime later today...

First snowy stormy weekend this season so i and a neighbor did some damage to my cellar - all big malty monsters from 3-5 yrs or so old. Bells expedition and third coast, Bigfoot, Central Waters BB,

Work travel to the west coast.  I had:

Karl Strauss - Red Trolley Ale

Anderson Valley - Boont Amber Ale

I liked them both a lot.  The Red Trolley was incredibly malty, caramely, and smooth.  It is described as an irish red.  If that is what irish red's taste like I may have to start looking for them more often.  The Boont Amber was really good.  Brown, slightly malty, and a crisp refreshing finish.  I had both on tap.  I wasn't expecting much from either, and they both pleasantly surprised me.

One time in the summer I bought a case of Anderson Valley Blood Orange Gose.  I didn't know what Gose was.  Since it was fruit flavor I figured it was a blood orange flavored wheat beer of some type.  Like a Leinenkugel or something.  Well... apparently that isn't was Gose is.  I didn't like it at all.  Apparently Gose is some type of beer that is sort of salty.  I had to mix it with half sprite half Blood Orange Gose just to drink it... like the original Radler style.

Pretty sure a lot of barrel aged goodies will be opened this weekend. Still need to pick up a few things with a more moderate abv level.
Indeed -- planning on finally opening Lizard of Koz, and have BCBS and KBS ready to go as well. I just can't do too much BA stout in a row, though. Need to break it up with some lighter hoppy stuff.

ETA: Actually, LOL @ Cone Crusher (8.6%) and Enigma (9%) being my "lighter" options.

Also chompin' at the bit for my brother to get his a$$ to FedEx to send me my box o' NE hoppy goodness, which will be Heady, Focal, Julius, Sap, and Green x2 each, plus whatever else he throws in to fill it up (prolly Trillium stuff).

You mind if you give him my address to send those beers to instead?

I'll forward it right over LOL. Sent him a pretty solid box for those including 2 Black Note and 2 KBS plus some good 18th / FFF hops. Trillium for him is easy to get like FFF is for me. Alchemist and Tree House require taking a whole day to go get...

Tree House is impossible for me to get around here. I gave up playing the game to get it. Much easier to get Alchemist and Trillium takes no effort.

Never sent beer , how does one do it and about what is the cost ?
Pretty easy really. Pack it well into a box and send via UPS or FedEx. Cost is dependent on location and weight. Costs me anywhere from 20-30 to send a box to Florida or NC, about 15 to send to Michigan

get a big enough box, lots of soft packing material, wrap the bottles in bubble wrap, copious amounts of tape to seal it.  set up a shipping account with one of those major shipping companies.. ship "olive oil" to your friend.

i can ship anywhere for about $15 or less

Prairie Hop -- outstanding, of course. Deliberately bought an old bottle (early 2015) -- funky Brett all over the place. Hop character more muted of course, but I dig the wild character.

Enigma, Cone Crusher, Der Smash on deck. Fire blazing and family over making Xmas cookies.

Heady, now Focal, then gonna run through the Tree House lineup. Gonna be wrecked by about 6:00. Dry-aged prime bone in rib roast for tomorrow dry-brining as we speak.

Green is better than I remembered, and I remembered it being really effing good. Straight galaxy bomb -- in the running with Galaxy Dry Hopped Fort Point and DDH Congress Street for best beer I've ever had. Obscenely good.

Shoutout to the SE Michigan beer guys. There's a BA event coming up to benefit autism. PM if interested. I'll be there.

Defloured  from Witches Hat. They have firmly established themselves as the source for NE style IPA in Michigan
Transient Artisan Ales in Bridgman too from what I hear. A few guys in my local FB beer group are huge fans. I've been meaning to get up there and check it out.

Managed to snag bottles of Funky Buddha Last Buffalo in Park and Prairie Artisan Noir Stout. Have not opened them yet.

Had some Nib Smuggler on tap last night. Like high octane yoohoo.

Buddy came by the other day. He brought a bottle of Lagunitas High Westified Imperial stout. I opened an Avery Mephistopholes.  I think the Lagunitas was better but both really solid high ABV.

Had HA Deep Space last night as well as a crowler of Cumulus from Hailstorm. HA does an incredible job with their DIPA, I hadn't had Deep Space before but it's significantly better than space, very similar to how double daisy cutter is so much better that regular. Today will be a ridiculous amount of BA beer, I will be cracking a Rare from last year, prop, coffee, regular and barleywine from this year. Pretty sure I need to get a growler of a low abv ipa or pale for in between.
