What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Decided to not give anymore more $$ to InBev so no BCBS for me. Did spend a good portion of the day at Noon Whistle. Had a bunch of Gummycolada  pineapple and coconut NEIPA. It is very good, had some tequila BA imperial stout as well. Also very good.

Yall are all  crazy over the BCBS and I'm over here in Butler PA drinking Troegs Hop Knife harvest ale. Meh. Tomorrow we drink the better stuff.

I'm pretty well stocked on midwestern stouts now. Over the next few weeks, I'll hit the liquor stores more often and try and find those late releases, but it's very hit or miss.
Yeah, same here which is why I limited my BCBS search today. My wallet needs a break too....

I got some java BA ten fidy today, never had it before.
I'm trying really hard not to crack one of those BA Ten FIDY's but I've heard some great things and looking forward to it.

How much were they in MI. 80's?

They're a bit outrageous in NC, but I'd they are as good as advertised I'll be going to the release next year where it's more reasonable.

Not sure, the one I got was a gift from my sister.

Putting up the tree with an Alpha Klaus.  Ran out of lights somehow so had to run to Meijer. Of course they had No Rules gift packs there. Got one for my brother and somehow escaped not spending another $100.

My cousin managed to buy a case of Bourbon County Brand Stout and is saving one for me.  Should be a great Christmas present.

Sketchbook Brewing Snowy Owl from my trip to Chicago. Nice.
I hope you are/were able to enjoy the full Chicago beer scene experience. That includes, but is not limited to:

- standing many hours in line for a beer release

- asking a friend or family member to join you for another allocation

- chasing a beer delivery truck

Extra credit if you sold said beer or traded for whalezbro within 4 hrs of purchase.

So went to 3 breweries today around Pittsburgh:

Dancing Gnome. Clean place, but kinda boring inside. Excellent IPAs. They're doing a collab with Civil Society, Aslin, and another brewery next week. Can't wait to see what they brew. Tried the Flock IPA, Galaxy Jam IPA, Inner Earth DIPA, and Better 1 or 2 DIPA. All pretty great and a lot like Civil as far as hazy IPAs go. Big fan.

Brew Gentleman. The atmosphere/vibe was just ok, but awesome beer. Tried the General Braddocks IPA, Kanso IPA, Early Pearl IPA, Ghost Cookies IPA, and Kabuto DIPA. All pretty great. Got a growler of Kabuto to go.

Voodoo. Best atmosphere of the 3, but weakest beer list. No IPAs or stouts on tap, but they had an Enigma hopped Pale Ale that was pretty good, a nice Berliner, and I grabbed a 4 pack of Space Cadet, a Galaxy DIPA.

Also hit Smallman St Deli for a great pastrami sammich in between breweries. I wish we could have hit a place or two for some sours but we ran out of time...still not a bad day!

Rant:

Dear “craft” breweries,

Calm down.  $30 for a bomber? BTFU.

Don’t even try to justify it. No way your #### is 6x better than a $5 bottle of Lagunitas.  #####.

Thank @Wingnut

Was going to ask about places to hit in Pittsburgh as I've got a trip coming up. Any other suggestions from folks? Thanks.

I'm too low key for that ditka. Went to Sketchbook on a weekday afternoon and it was chill. Liked it a lot. I'll stand in line for incredible BBQ. But that's about it.

Keep in mind Joe, I'm a hophead so I purposely picked places that had several IPAs on (other than Voodoo, which we went to because it's only like 10 minutes from Brew Gentlemen). I can't believe I didn't take pics of the boards, I'm not sure if any of the 3 had any stouts on. There are a lot of other breweries in and around Pittsburgh, so you'll have plenty to pick from depending on what area you're in. Enjoy!

I'm a big Fat Heads fan. They have a pub on the East Side. A couple good beer bars on that area too. At least 5+ years ago there were. Great bar food and sandwiches at Fat Heads too.

I made a significant dent in my cellar this past weekend-

  • Whisky barrel aged Scotch Silly - unknown date - had this one before and really like it
  • 2014 Bell's Expedition Stout - love this beer with 3+ years on it, not sure there's a better RIS, barrel aged or not
  • 2015 Founders Old Curmudgeon - lovely, super creamy, I think this beer and the style in general is under appreciated
  • 2015 BA Narwhal - ok but not on the same level as a lot of others I've had lately
  • 2017 Bell's Black Note - think this should be better with a couple years in the cellar, which I knew going in but it was my first one
  • Plus a handful of tasty Michigan IPAs - Roak Flavorful Five and Oddside Pink Guava Dank Juice which are both really yummy IMO
Heading to Vegas this afternoon but planning to take it easy for the next few days

Agreed. Although Bell’s comes pretty effing close with their regular lineup.
it's so readily available here, and i've drank so much of it that i often overlook Bell's when shopping. then when i opt for Two Hearted or Roundhouse or Expedition i think "why don't i just only drink Bell's"

In the beer wasteland that is Daphne, Alabama...drank Stone IPA at dinner, grabbed a sixer of Stone Enjoy By 12-25-17, and what do we have here - Westbrook Gose 6 packs. I can't get these in central FL...I loaded up. It's always summer here so Im gonna need something refreshing for December...these will do just fine :D

Hey Pittsburgh beerguys...Ill be in town this coming weekend...Ill be hitting Brew Gentleman, Dancing Gnome, and possibly Voodoo on Saturday, but are there any good IPAs in distro that I can pick up either near the airport or on the way to Butler? TIA
Sorry I saw this so late but if you are ever back in the area and are into sours you need to check out Draai Laag brewery in Millvale

I picked up some more Toppling Goliath IPAs.  Not sure which one I'll have tonight, maybe the new X-Hops Gold or Mosaic Hopped Pseudo Sue.

Tuesday night I had a Ballast Point See Monster that was pretty good.  My cousin and a friend waiting in line to get some Founder's CBS this morning.

Complete ####show in Chicagoland for CBS. Figure that. Luckily I was able to get one.
Indeed. Heard it was a total nightmare. I took a pass given $30 / bottle and the fact that I’ll certainly have the opportunity to have a small pour from a buddy’s bottle.

"Socrates died in the ####### gutter" would be the name of a beer if I made beer. #masermycraft

Last night stopped at Docs BBQ in Mokena. The tap list  is awesome. Hard to beat $6 Black Note and BA Blackout Stout pours. Also had The Bruery 2016 Mash and Coconut, Bells Traverse City Whiskey Barrel Aged Porter, and Sun King Senor Timmie (blech).

Food was good. I’d consider going to the Dyer location and making a stop at Windmill.

Green Man Trickster IPA last night. Pretty good! It has that soft mouthfeel like a NE IPA.

Also, Coppertail Whoops, a cranberry hibiscus Berliner. Tasty but at 3.5% it's like drinking a Bud Light. Lol

Hey @Wingnut Where you at in FL? Can't remember? I'm in Palm Coast for the week. Not sure if I'll be able to get out much, but if I can is there anything close worth seeking out?

I have a buddy in Wesley Chapel. He may scoop me from Orlando and then I'm going to crash with him. So anywhere around those to areas or close enough I should go to?
