What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (5 Viewers)

Resort has all kinds of Mexican craft beers, I assume these are all terrible. Anyone have any knowledge of the Mexican beer scene? If love an ipa but I tried one 2 years ago and it was a drain pour.

Thanks- been drinking Sol for years though!

They have IPAs, blondes , etc from some deep cut Mexican breweries. Prolly won't risk it.

Only one way to tell. Try them all.

Slim pickings in the Wisconsin northwoods. I've run into an empty CBS box and an empty Willetized six pack holder. Not even any Central Waters barrel aged.

Looks like a wine night but I did bring some Deth's tar, a bcbs, and a triple barrel Baptist in anticipation of this happening. Oh wait, I did find a Stone Mikhail. Maybe open that. And more wine.

Finally had that triple big bad Baptist. Lotta flavor in that bottle. I don't even like coconut but that is a great beer.

Is that an IPA?  Didn't know you were a hop head.  Gotta get out to Portland with Rude sometime.  I'll line up a nice hoppy tour for us.
And yes, it's an IPA. They're a small divey brewery in Knoxville. No distribution outside of their tap room. Only cans they have have are the 32oz crowlers and they have to be bought at the tap room. Might be my favorite spot anywhere though.

I'm a novice. But i lean to IPA's. Love Portland, is that where you are now? I was thinking Washington?
Yeah, been in Portland for over 20 years now. Love it.  I too am a fan of the IPAs, though I lean towards the more balanced ones.  They have some up here that are just way too hoppy for me, but I can understand why some would gravitate towards them.  In the summer, I love my Pilsners; some really great local ones here.

Have not learned to like the sours, however.  My good buddy @Jefferson the Caregiver swears by them but I just don't get it.  I like my coffee dark and black and my beers hoppy.

Let me know if you're ever up this way. Be fun to put a brew tour together. Or time it during one of our many brew fests.  Did the international beer fest with Rude and his mom few summers back.  Called her the wrong name when I shook her hand goodbye. :lmao:

Awesome. The Ace downtown is one of my favorite hotels. Courier Coffee and the Cannele's changed my view of coffee and pastry. Woodsman Tavern was super good. Fuller's Diner is one of my favorite diners in the country. Pok Pok was kind of fun because of all the hype but didn't blow me away. And of course the breweries are super sweet.

Oh, and with you on the sours. Just not for me. For me, it's sore throat in a glass as my friend Brandon Hunt says. But that's why they make all kinds I guess.

Had the BA Coconut Narwhal last night. Kind of a let down. Got no Coconut at all and tasted ok but not for the price.
I liked this one quite a bit but coconut makes my neck beard tingle. And I don’t have a neckbeard. I am with you somewhat in the coconut is underwhelming until it warms up.  I would open that one room temperature.

I have an issue with letting things last long enough to warm my friend lol. it was underwhelming for me sadly. Although it seems my palate can change weekly :-)

Picked up a 4 pack of High West Victory at Sea and a BA Siberian Nights stout today for the games this weekend. Have heard good things about the High West. Looking forward to it.

On an unrelated note, I have a 22 oz bottle of Founders Backwoods ******* that I would add in on a possible 2 for 1 for a great Stout that I haven't tried if someone is a fan of, or has yet to try.

Ocelot is canning now...I might have to try to procure some soon.

I'm having a Focus IPA by Calusa in Sarasota. Every bit as good as Civil Society. Its still an hour and a half away but its better  than almost 3 hours..

Was excited to see Revolution VSOD (BA stout) at Binny's last night.  Then saw it's $34 for a 4 pack of 12 oz cans.  GTFO.

Didn't buy.

i am having sober january starting today and then probably starting tomorrow to so who knows maybe an ipa take that to the bank brochachos

Not like it's a stalwart or anything but I was sad to see Bells stopped making Smitten, or at least for this year they did.  Replaced it with someone sort of sour I haven't tried yet

Currently I am thoroughly enjoying a pounder of Miller Light poured in a pint glass.

Lately I have been thoroughly enjoying Yeungling Lager.

Luckily these are smaller pours because the BA Bells Expedition Stout is out now and it's the best of the bunch yet

Are the cans just for sale at the brewery, or available at stores around?

ETA: Oh, and drinking Liquid Truth Serum.
Just the brewery. First couple will sell out really quick. But my brother hates hype and lines and all the BS that comes with it so everything should be easier down the line.

Spent yesterday AM and today AM stewarding a pro-beer contest.  Over 700 entries of professionally brewed craft beer.  As steward, it's my job to being beer samples to the judges and help where I can, but I also help with judging and sampling.  Yesterday my table was English milds and porters. Today was english strongs and anything aged in wood.  Some really fantastic stuff.  Unfortunately it's all blind so I can't say what everything was.

Side bonus: all extra beer from comp is given away to volunteers.  I pulled a case roughly yesterday, expect the same today.
