What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

I was in Chicago last weekend and was happy to see Cigar City beers on tap. Hope they make it across the northern border soon.

Nitra Joe coffee stout from 3 Sheeps for me at the moment.
Cigar City just started distro out here in San Diego. Crazy to see all these out of state breweries try to crack this market. I don't think there is much need for a Cigar City out here.

Their brown ale is very good, not something many brewers do well. Maduro.
Yeah that's a good one. I also love their wee heavy and imperial stout. I'd buy those if they were on the shelf. I don't think their brown is better than AleSmith's or Benchmark's though, so the locals get my money there.

Heading to Michigan in August for a wedding...where will I be able to find some of that M43 IPA I see everyone posting online? I need to try it and maybe ship some to myself while I'm there

Where at in Michigan?  Seems like they are doing pretty well keeping up with demand now, but if you can give a general area 80s or I may be able to give a specific store

Flying into Detroit, then driving up to Bay City, and then to Cheboygan the next day.

Merchants of Fine Wine and possibly  Westborn Market (both in Dearborn, few miles from DTW) should have it.  Merchants has a great beer selection FWIW

Also the Vinery in Dearborn Heights

These would add a few minutes (15-20 min) out of the way but you can easily pick up a route to Bay City from any of them

275N probably the more direct route though which is more @Ilov80s area, he can probably recommend something in the Plymouth / Canton / Farmington area

depends how much time you have to kill

There is a Westborn in Plymouth but honestly everywhere in the Plymouth area has it now. Even my local gas station had it. Get Boss Tweed too. That’s the DIPA by  Old Nation and it’s not too hard to find now. #### you give me more details and I’ll personally meet you with a beer delivery.

Yeah we just got it too. It’s cool but so unnecessary.

No I don’t get out a ton but I’ll have to check it out
Well well worth it. Their IPAs are top notch and their sours are a revelation. They have a sour festival in June and the lineup is killer. Cantillon and other big hitters from Europe will be there. Many of the best NA breweries too: Crooked Stave, Other Half, etc,

Was in Wisconsin last weekend and enjoyed some New Glarus beer along with bringing some back home.  Grabbed some Moon Man, Scream IIPA and Raspberry Tart.  I enjoyed a Belgian Red at a craft bar in La Crosse, love that beer.

Pick one Denver brewery, reasonable uber distance from the River North district, to go to while I am there for a single night. I will be going to Crooked Stave since it's down the street from where I'll be. I was thinking New Image or Ratio based on the googles

I loved Ratio because they were blasting punk rock the whole time. There's a few right there in walking distance. Lagerhaus has a killer pilsner. Our Mutual Friend is cool too. They play vinyl. Like a block away.

If I had to really just pick one of those it would probably be ratio. But Mutual if I wanted mixed fermentation and Barrel aged stuff. Lagerhaus if I wanted to crush lagers. Ratio if all things even.

Today I agreed to go to my girlfriends cousins daughters high school graduation party. This was about an hour 20 minutes drive and the only people I knew were her parents, her brother and his wife and I had met some of her other relatives. I'm recovering from surgery and I could have easily skipped it but I had nothing better to do, felt OK, so I went figuring it puts some credit in the bank with my girl. Sometimes things work out a lot better than expected.

First  I discovered her cousin's daughter was a very lovely young woman and her friends were in her dance group and were all pretty young women. The food was good cookout food and there was free beer available. So I go over to the cooler and figure it will be Bud Lite or something and instead I see all craft beers, some that I didn't recognize. So I grab a can of HEADY TOPPER.  I've been trying to find  this for a while but unless you live in Vermont it just not available. If you like Double IPAs it's very good. Very hoppy, not bitter. It was a good day.

Overcast and drizzly day here, so got a growler of Maine Woods & Water and a pounder of Lord Hobo Glorious as I finally work on the latest season of Curb.

You're gonna need it....not a great season but some good scenes throughout.  A bad season of Curb is better than most comedies imo.

Burned out on Oregon IPAs and the like.  Saw Amstel Light on sale.  Used to enjoy that before I knew better.  Not bad, good change-up from the heavy hoppy stuff.

Brew Hub has $5 32oz growler fills every Thursday...grabbed a fill of Cuvee of Haze IPA and a fill if Hatchback Mafia IPA. You just can't beat that deal.

Also just finished my last can of Calusa Focus IPA. It's my favorite IPA from Florida's west coast.

So Garagiste Meadery had a lottery for the final dozen or so Illuminutty memberships, and I was lucky enough to win. So now I get first dibs on all bottles, with the option to purchase online and pick them up at my leisure, which means no waiting in line. It also guarantees me 3 member only bottles, as well as 10% off all taproom purchases. Not bad.

I drank a bunch of Indeed mexican honey lager yesterday...it went well with the herrudura reposado and chorizo and cilantro queso dip I made.

Ole!

Just had one and it was dated sometime at the end of March. It was still really good.
Cigar City hit Se Michigan sometime in the lats 6 months. Meh. I like Jai Alai and it gets here pretty fresh but the market is so flooded that it's tough to compete with local.

I understand and these days I spend most of my money on localiah such as Hailstorm, Pipeworks, Half Acre, and Toppling Goliath.  But there is still room in the rotation for some others. Give Guayabera a shot, its pretty good.

Right now, going local with a Penrose Midwest Vice hazebomb.

Sounds good. Old Nation Full Earth here. It's a traditional Michigan ipa done NE style. Cool to get a lot of the non Citra C hops in a NE.

Going to SW Michigan in July. Ive had M43 and that was relatively easy to find. Is their other stuff readily available?

Sort of. M43 is everywhere and then they seem to be pretty steady about putting out another NE IPA. So there is usually something else available from them but it's not always the easiest to get. A year and a half ago Old Nation was in danger of going out of business, now M43 is on every shelf of every place with good beer in the State, It's quite a crazy success. They have since canned 6 IPAs that honestly might be the 6 best IPAs ever canned in Michigan. They are killing it.

On Thursday driving from Wisconsin to Gatlinburg, TN with the family for a week vacation.  Any recommendations for beer to look for in Gatlinburg?  I noticed online someone called Gatlinburg a craft beer wasteland, but is there anything at the local stores to get that I may not be able to get in Wisconsin?  On the drive home might hit Nashville for a night stay last time I was there stopped in Craft Brewed to pick up some beer to go.  Any recommendations fro breweries to look for at the local store?

I don’t recall anything special, but the local supermarket did have an adequate craft beer selection
