What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

EasternPA people, anyone been to Proletariat in Coatesville? Will be in the area tomorrow and am thinking about checking it out.

This ain't no Hburg party, we heading straight into the Ville. Which means we might die. But if not I will post a review.
Well, here is my review:

I was going to drop off my daughter at her grandparents for the night. They have a place near Coatesville. It's close to an hour drive for me, so I wanted to get something else out of it. Victory is the logical choice, but I wanted something different. So I had googled breweries near Coatesville, just to see if there were anything new, and lo and behold, I get this: http://www.proletariatbrewingcompany.com/

Looks cool enough, so my gf and I figure we'll give it a shot. Oddly, there were no reviews anywhere online that I could fine.

Drop my daughter off and put in Proletariat Brewing as the destination in google maps. 11 minutes. Great.

We drive into downtown Coatesville, which is kind of a ####hole. There's no brewery where maps says it is. We circle a few blocks and still see nothing. We park on the street and plan to walk around a bit. Now, it is getting dark and there are a few seedy characters around, so I wonder if this is the best idea. I put in the actual street address of the place and that comes up in a totally different part of town. Ok, fine, let's get the hell out of there.

We start driving and are immediately passesd by an ambulance, 2 cops and 2 fire engines. We come up on them entering a gas station where an Indian clerk is outside with a fire extinguisher and 20 people are in the parking lot. I want to know what's going on, but don't want to die in a fiery explosion, so we press on. We are led to a residential neighborhood where the address is. WTF.

So I call the phone number on the website. A woman answers. "Um, Is this Proletariat Brewing?" I say. She chuckles and says she's had the number for 6 or 7 weeks. Ok. I guess that's a "no". I call the number on their facebook page and it goes to an individual's voicemail.

So #### it, we say, time to go to Victory.

tldr: This brewery either existed and just shut down with no word anywhere; or is planning to open soon; or is some elaborate hoax.

UPDATE:

I posted a comment about this on their FB page.

Response: We are currently trying to find investors and get into a building.

Gee, you know that information really would have been more useful to me YESTERDAY.

sounds stabby

Santa Fe Brewing Co Imperial Java Stout. Missing that bourbon barrel flavor of KBS and BCBCS but a very solid brew. These coffee stouts are really growing on me.

This past weekend visited Half Acre. I walked out with a growler of Daisy Cutter, growler of Space IPA, couple of bombers of Vallejo IPA, and a couple 4-packs of Akari Shogun.

Had the growler of Daisy Cutter and it was great. Also had one Shogun and I would put it up against Gumballhead for hoppy wheat beers. Another great beer.

Can't wait to try the others.

Akari Shogun is so money (and ETA Daisy Cutter is still a top tier all time beer for me)

Did they have Pony?

Passauer Weisse by Innstadt Brauerei, pretty good wheat beer but the atmosphere of the Passau beergarden makes increases the quality tenfold, perfect weather as well. Also had the Augustiner Dunkel atop the Oberhausen fortress overlooking the Austria, Germany and the convergence of the Danube, Inn and Illz. So yeah, that was an amazing beer.

Deschutes Inversion IPA (very good), Chainbreaker White IPA (good for a wheat, not more than one a night), Obsidian Stout (bland at first after binging on Santa Fe Java Stouts lately, but has grown on me after a few days)

Stiegl Radler, not my favorite but my wife is loving it. It barely counts as beer at 2.5% and mostly takes like grapefruit soda. It's a good beer off a day of long hiking and sightseeing.

sounds like a great beer vacation Ilov80s
Beer isn't the reason I came to central Europe, but it's a perk. Touring through Prague, Passau, a few places in Austria, Bratislava and Budapest. I didn't know much about Austria outside of Vienna and I am blown away. Linz, Melk and Durnstein are such beautiful little towns , blows Tuscany away IMO.

Weissbier by Franziskaner and Dopplemalz by Schremser at Naschmarket in Vienna.

There are definitely some strange selections on that list/map.

Landshark over Cigar City is an embarrassingly bad selection for the state of Florida.

I also think that Wild Heaven over Terrapin is a very strange selection for the state of Georgia.

Upland Brewing over Three Floyds is a strange selection for Indiana.

Choc Beer over Prarie is somewhat surprising for Oklahoma, although admittedly I have never had Choc Beer.

I think Goose Island probably deserves Illinois over Two Brothers Brewing.

I love Lagunitas and it is a worthy choice, but I would probably take Firestone Walker or Russian River over them for California.

I would also take Founders over Bell's for Michigan, but I guess you can't go wrong with either of those selections.

I wouldn't have personally selected New Belgium for Colorado (as I think that Odell and a number of other Colorado breweries generally put out better beers), but I respect a lot of the stuff that they do.

MN - never had Surly, but i've had summit and can't imagine it's better.

PA - I'd lean toward some smaller ones, but wouldn't argue against Victory

CT - Willimantic is a good choice among few options.

NJ - I'd go Carton, but Flying Fish has so many years on the rest in the state

It's hard to weigh in on the MN selection if you've never had Surly. I haven't had Summit, but I'll have to seek it out.

Had both..... Surly >>>>>> Summit

I found Fat Head's Head Hunter IPA at one of my local brewpubs tonight, even though they don't distribute here. One of the nice benefits of having big events like the World Beer Cup and GABF in Denver is that the top breweries from around the country will leave kegs behind at the local brewpubs.

I also had an amazing firkin release at the brewery down the street from me, Station 26 Brewing. They did a single hop Centennial IPA and then dry hopped it with Mosaic hops and conditioned it with honey. Delicious combination of fresh hop citrus and berry flavors with some honey sweetness and an incredibly smooth mouthfeel.

Moved to San Diego two months ago. Currently sitting at Stone in the SD airport, waiting for a flight. Drinking Stone Cali-Belgique IPA. :banned:

San Diego is an amazing beer city. The number of quality breweries is amazing. I have visited and sampled many but I still have a long way to go to make it to all of them.

However, I have found that one of my favorite brands, Bell's, is not available here. So no Oberon this summer, except when I go back to the east coast.

Where did you end up JWB?

I've had at least 15 Surly beers that are better than anything I've had from Summit. And that doesn't include Indeed, Town Hall, and a ton of other breweries that are all better than Summit, IMO.

If we're being really nitpicky, I'd prefer Midnight Sun over Alaskan.

And a bunch of other NY places over Sixpoint, but I'm biased because I can get a lot of local stuff.

OFW Red Clover

OFW Not So Pale Ale

Custom Brewcrafters Twang Saison

Community Beer Works IPA x2

Sam Adams Cold Snap

OFW is a new local outfit. Not bad. They're basically brewing in a homebrew setup right now while they get their brewhouse up and running. Kinda crazy.

Looks like a good news, good news, situation for you.

Good news: there are over 80 breweries in San Diego county. Over ####### 80. You will find great beer that is as good or better than anything from Bells.

Good news: we're getting Bells here starting May

Living in La Mesa with my brother-in-law and his family until my wife and her parents make it to SD (must sell houses, etc.). It will still be months before the dust settles.

KCCO Black Lager

Bells Oberon
How is the KCCO?

Still drinking the Torpedo's in this one horse town. Had a Rebel IPA tonight from Sam Adams and was pleasantly surprised.
Really, really solid. I haven't had too many premium Black Lagers to really compare it to, but I put it tops among those I've tried.

Very much looking forward to the 4 new beers they have coming out.
