Who else hates new NBC Sports / Rotoworld site? (1 Viewer)

Anytime a site is re-designed for a post-literate world, I cringe. I can read faster than a video can play.
And those sites always fail. Awhile back the trend everywhere was video over written content and it was a disaster. We’ve since learned those tech companies were juicing the data to make it look like it was doing well and getting to spread across platforms and companies only for every company who converted to lose money.

Horrible... NBC has slowly destroyed Rotoworld. Dismantling it piece-by-piece and running off all of the old writers with the lone exception of Pouliot (thus far). They've chosen to pay Matthew Berry an obscene amount of $ to have a name at the expense of the site.

On the baseball side, you can no longer sort the player news by AL or NL-only if you are in an AL or NL-only league. Daily lineups are gone, etc. All of the tools that used to be useful... gone.

Sad, really.

I can tell you for a fact it’s the corporate drones doing it against the advice of the actual people who run fantasy for their site.

The site blows chunks now. I used to visit the site many times per day, as it was my first choice for breaking news. Now I have to figure out how to find the info.
you can bookmark this link which takes you to how the old player news used to show up, even though it's not as visually appealing.

Have heard the same from the guys who were in charge of their NBA coverage.

Was not debating who is making the calls... what matters is the end result. And unfortunately the site has gone from THE site so many of us (if not all) use for fantasy player news to a site apparently looking to cater to DFS and sports bettors, I guess. Bottom line driven by corporate management who know nothing about the industry (NBC already replaced the lady they initially put in charge who got rid of the Rotoworld branding for NBC Sports Edge only to go back and forth again)... I can't help but wonder what happens when their fantasy diehard traffic dries up? Do the sponsors follow?

absolutely terrible

what a great opportunity for FBG to capitalize on...hell, I might capitalize on it.

The news portion seems very easy to replicate.

They already have this.

They do... but it has not been nearly as comprehensive in the past. A fraction of the information. Not even comparable, really.

To TripitUp's point... there appears to be an opportunity here. Rotowire has a similar news service but I've not spent enough time there to compare. Not sure if anyone can replicate what Rotoworld has provided.

The layout is not even the worst thing here.

There's no link to their forum anymore, you have to google it...which also lead to the speculation that they're about to close it just how they shut down the comments on PFT because Florio deemed them "toxic".

I started playing FF in 2003, I've probably used Rotoworld the majority of that time.

I loved the player page layout. Everything was on one page. Game logs, Season stats, previous seasons stats. Height/Weight/Draft history/Contract info.

When doing rankings/projections, I would literally google Justin Jefferson Rotoworld.

It was working yesterday and like 8 AM. I did it in the afternoon and it took me to the new page. And I have to go through 2 or 3 pages to get to the player page. Then all of the stats/gamelogs have been separated.
