why do people stand in line for chipotle (5 Viewers)

Fair enough, but we prob have different views of defining good shape... My goal is a lot of lean muscle and BF% under 10.

If someone goes for a bowl with just double chicken, tomatoes, and guac they have taken in 2/3 of their sodium content in that one sitting. Personally with my goals and family history of slightly elevated blood pressure, wouldn't define that as healthy. Throw in a few other things and I feel it starts getting ugly. Just my opinion to align with my goals of being fit, muscular, and a 6 pack - to each his own.
So don't get the guac. JFC man, get ahold of yourself.

I was going to go to Moe's for lunch today (they are always so excited to see me when I walk in the door), but the OP convinced me to drive to Meixco instead. I hope I can make it back in time for my 1pm status call.
I did a 5k last summer and they handed out Moes at the end. It was a mini burrito, veggie chips , an apple and a bottled water. I've never even seen a Moes but I'd love to try them again.
Trust me man, where I'm from there's a Chipotle and a Moe's probably a block from each other (I live in The Land of a Thousand Restaurants). Moe's can't hold a candle to Chipotle.

Chipotle uses higher quality ingredients than the greasy authentic Mexican joints. Nothing wrong with greasy authentic Mexican joints, I just sometimes prefer to eat a little cleaner. It's nice to have healthier fast food options nowadays like Panera and Chipotle.
Healthier :lmao: Read the caloric and fat intake of your burrito.
There's more to nutrition than calories. Chipotle uses unprocessed meats and fresh vegetables. It's a much better lunchtime option than most.
I love Chipotle, but I'm fairly certain it is about as unhealthy as a lunch option gets. A chicken burrito with white rice, beans, salsa, cheese, guacamole, & corn has (keep in mind these numbers corporations issue are always on the frugal side too):

1300 calories

60 grams of fat

20 grams saturated fat

3015 mg sodium

200 mg cholesterol

140g of carbs
sure, you can walk into the place and order the least healthy option available.

or, you could get something healthier.

BEST

• Burrito bowl, with steak or chicken, brown rice, black beans, fajita veggies, guacamole, and green salsa: The best meal at Chipotle is one that skips the tortillas. This burrito bowl is a square 510 calories, 17 grams of fat, and an impressive 22 grams of fiber. “It’s got lean protein and heart-healthy fats that will give you a full feeling for longer. This is pretty good meal,” says our expert. Be sure to ask for half the normal amount of guacamole, as the dollop tends to be generous.

EDIT: I see this has been covered already.

There is always a line because they ask you a lot of questions. I went there just wanting a burrito and once I paid I felt like I had just played jeopardy. Just put whatever you're supposed to put on it and the line would move fast. I prefer other options.
Do tell.
Do you want this or that? This or that? Do you want that? What kind of this? This? Did you also want this? How about that? That costs extra, do you want it? Some of this? How about I say chicken burrito and you just do your magic?
What is You should have gone to Chick-fil-a, Willie?
You can say that again.

Another thing that I've noticed is every time I walk by Chipotle everyone who is dining in is looking down at their phone. People are sitting at the same table and not talking but typing away or reading the internet. At Chic-Fil-a people are talking. The atmosphere is one of a family dinner. I don't know what that means in the big picture but I do know that i prefer an atmosphere where people are interacting.

chipotle attracts more liberal minded people whereas chik-fil-a with their controversial social beliefs attracts more conservative crowds, aka "family values" republicans. these crowds tend to be older and less technologically prowessed than their liberal counterparts.

How the #### did a thread about waiting in line for chipotle turn into a ##### and moan session about people on their phones?

Nothing is better than a bite with sour cream and the hot sauce.
You may be joking, but yeah I actually enjoy the "all or nothing" bites. Like all you get is corn and sour cream in that bite. MMMMM....what's coming next? IT'S A MYSTERY

I didn't want to go there but now that you did I can't say i disagree.

Chipotle is healthy, you win.
Never said that. I said it CAN be healthy if you order right. But I see you're having a hard time with this so I'll just stop.

Not sure why this is so hard to understand.
So can McDonalds...

For the poster below, check the sodium content of their guacamole. It's nice to think you're eating delicious and healthy, I'll move along bc you guys refuse to believe otherwise.
The fact that you keep bringing up guacamole just underscores your failure to get it.

I personally don't go out of my way to eat healthy there. My typical burrito: white rice, no beans, chicken, corn, cheese, lettuce. That's probably not recommended for someone on a diet, but for someone in good shape, that's a reasonable lunch. My friend, who's also in good shape but who has to work at it, typically gets a burrito bowl with grilled veggies, chicken, brown rice, hot salsa and lettuce.

McDonald's is horrible. Just the smell of the place make me want to retch.
Fair enough, but we prob have different views of defining good shape... My goal is a lot of lean muscle and BF% under 10.

If these are your goals, you shouldn't be eating at any restaurant period.

No joke at all. If not for that combo specifically I would not go there. I agree on the different bite types. One is rice and chicken the next is chicken and peppers the the sour cream and hot stuff. Great mix and match varieties going on there.

Pretty hard to mess up a burrito. Don't eat there very often but when I do it's what you'd expect for a fast food type place. Tastes pretty good. Better than Taco Bell, which I'll eat the #### out of when I'm hungry or buzzed, about on par with Taco Del Mar.

And, people who like sour cream are not to be trusted.

Having grown up in SF and moved to NYC in the 80s, I can tell you that is- in fact- very easy to mess up a burrito.

Hell...there is a taqueria in my small rural town and 999 times out of 1000 I'll choose to swing through Taco Bell instead. Even though I know their food is delicious and their margaritas make my wife's clothes fall off.
Wow. So are you super lazy, ######ed, or both?

Why do people choose to go to a fast food joint when there is a better version at a sit down restaurant? Convenience and it's cheaper. You can't be that dense.

Trying to lose some body fat, heading down to Chipotle for lunch and dinner  That cheese, sour cream, & sodium bomb will send me on the right path.
Sodium content is one of those things that is highly dependent on individual genetics for a determination of "healthy" or not.

For me, I have very low blood pressure. Give m pasture raised, no hormone meat, some beans for fiber and a couple hundred calories of dairy (which has never done me no wrong) along with some tasty salsas without crappy vegetable oils or preservatives and I'm going to call that pretty damn healthy.

 I ate at chipotle the day before finishing an ironman. Fits just fine with my goals.

999 times out of 1000? Maybe you should learn to cook or slow down a bit and enjoy the finer things in life. Plus, pretty much every taqeuria in existance does take out. Eating Taco Bell is disgusting enough in a vacuum. Doing it repeatedly when there are options, I'll stick with my original assesment.

Lots of Crossfit lunatics swear by Chipotle.

It's one of the go-to restaurants for the fitness set.

I was probably exaggerating. It's more like 963 times out of 1000.

This thread convinced me to get Chipotle today for the first time in a while. No idea why it's been so long. Thanks for reminding me, OP!

good marketing always has and always will trump quality
i dont think its good marketing. i think its because most people are just too stupid to take more than 5 seconds to realize that there's more to eat for lunch than the place with the flashing neon lights and plastic food. these are the same people who buy reeboks instead of nike's and drive pontiacs. who actually wakes up one morning and says 'hey! i'm gonna go buy a pontiac car today!"
Wait...you're using Nike as an example of a "better product" that is outsold by another because people are stupid? Nike? The king of "buy our crap because somebody famous has their name on it"? New Scoresman credibility rating = 0.

There's nothing wrong with guacamole.
Yeah, avocados have some good health benefits, but if you're fat like most people are, then you probably shouldn't be eating them.
Avocados make this list of the 20 best foods for weight loss. I think it's a pretty good list and agree with the inclusion of avocados (mainly for their fiber content).
:goodposting:

I've lost a bunch of weight over the last few years and I can't even count the # of avocados I've consumed over that time.

I have learned a lot in this thread

1) that I am not nuts in thinking that Chipotle is pretty good (for a chain fast food place)

2) validated my belief that Subway is garbage.

3) that Scoresman is a total snob for putting down people who go to Chipotle. Seriously, does it matter to you THAT much?

 your fat guys and gals didn't get there by eating avocados.

i didnt mean to put down chipotle that much, except when there are better options that are cheaper quicker right next door. that makes me scratch my head.
