WR Bryan Edwards, LV (2 Viewers)

BRYAN EDWARDS WR, LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

The Raiders listed Bryan Edwards and Henry Ruggs as starting receivers on their Week 1 depth chart.

Edwards will start outside with Ruggs playing the Z. The Raiders also have TE Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow returning in the slot. It’s possible Edwards falls into the 77 percent of snaps Tyrell Williams (labrum surgery, IR) got last year.  The Las Vegas Review Journal’s Vinny Bonsignore said on the In The Huddle podcast that Edwards will be “leaned on heavily.”

Week 1 anyone? :oldunsure:
I'm going to hold off just because he's a rookie but my choices at WR3 aren't bad.

Diontae Johnson

Marvin Jones

Bryan Edwards

I'd start either one of those guys agead of him this week.

If I'm choosing between him and any other Rookie WR at my WR3 though ill take Bryan Edwards.

Don't ask for source because I don't have one on this but the hype is getting out of control.

Report from source at Raiders camp says Henry Ruggs challenged Bryan Edwards to a race after getting mad at Edwards catching 6 straight passes and getting praise from coaches and QB. Edwards just laughed at him.

Ok I'm getting excited now!

Season is almost here!

I am without Cooks or at least passing on him being hobbled so its Anthony Miller or Edwards for me.  Might swing for the fences.  Carolina D is turrrible.

Wow.   The hype is a little much.   As a Raider fan and Edwards owner it’s fun to read but I still think there is a lot of risk here.  Every league is different though.   In some 16 team leagues that must start 3 WRs, I can see Edwards in line ups.

League size and starting requirements are likely to mean he’s not a starter this week but I have him ranked way ahead of where Fantasy Pros has him and wouldn’t be surprised if he pops week 1.

Yeah, agreed

I picked him up today and dropped Sanders thinking he has more upside but he’s planted firmly on my bench for now

Good move by you. There are so many dusty WRs being held in seasonal leagues right now where Flyin Bryan Edwards is just sitting on waivers. Seems like bad process.

Raiders WR Bryan Edwards is listed on the Week 1 injury report with a knee injury.

He practiced fully despite the injury. Edwards had a knee scope in November that eventually ended his senior year. It’s a reminder that Edwards has a lengthy injury history, though there's been no concern over his status. Edwards remains on track for Week 1.
I am simply not allowed to have nice things.

Seems like he’s playing but rough to go into the season questionable
Yeah he had a calf strain. I don't have any inside info on the situation at this time but I think they might be just being cautious. They know what they got with him. He doesn't need to practice.

Every snap matters for a young WR with virtually no game experience with his starting QB.
Not the special ones. You'll see. Big Ben has played with literally the best WR the league has seen in the last 6-7 years and he was just gushing on Diontae.

Ben sees it.

I drafted Edwards but can see going Miller this week.   Miller is a good WR that doesn’t receive enough targets.   If he gets targets, he will produce.
Going with Miller as well.  Supposedly great camp ready to make the leap blah blah.

Still want Edwards to go off on my bench.  :suds:

I could see him being a starter for some in 12-team leagues that must start 3, especially with ppr likely giving him something of a floor.  I personally (there is a bit of "hunch" in my ranking) would say that I rank him as a high-end wr4 which I realize is higher than most. But in start 3, some teams will not have 3 wrs to start that are wr3s.  So some will have to dip into wr4 territory or perhaps even wr5 territory on a wr-depleted roster.

WR Bryan Edwards

You have until Sunday at 1:00 Eastern Time to get Edwards on your fantasy football team. Especially if you have a dynasty team, the next three days are critical. Edwards is not going to play like a rookie. There is always a learning curve for rookies, but Edwards is going to be the Raiders leading receiver right out of the gate. That’s the prediction. Do with it what you will.

Probably some combination of it’s only one game and the fact that we extrapolate training camp too much.

No you got the right guy. Bring it. Give me all you're frustration.
I'm not a dynasty guy so my view is a little different.  Also my main league is 12 weeks then playoffs so every week counts.  Generally most of these rookies disappoint their first year.  Seems like the masses were down on Waller because all the new toys in Vegas.  After two years of force feeding the TE the ball, I didn't expect a sudden change.  2X in a covid year with all the restrictions on camps and pre-season.  Beyond that, Gruden/Mayock have to prove how smart they were drafting Ruggs as first overall WR over.  While you may be 100% on Edwards being the real deal, there are a lot of factors stacked against him.

Edwards led Raiders WRs in snap count 75%. 47 snaps. Obviously Ruggs missed a few but at least he was on the field. That is something. I'm sure they will talk about getting him more involved. Super disappointing though.

It was but we shouldn't overreact. It was his first NFL game. I think he's banged up a little too.

Given the caliber of talent Carolina has at corner he should have been targeted more yesterday if he were going to be a thing any time soon. Combine that with Derek Carr's history with wide receivers and this may be too long of a wait for redraft.

Agreed.   I’m moving on.   Congrats Edwards.   You are my first drop this season.

Could get whiplash in this thread...

seems to me the Edwards hype is a product of the Ruggs fade. (One of the rookies will have good FF value as the teams WR1) Which was lazy analysis to begin with. Raghib Ismail, James Jett, and DHB have nothing to do with Ruggs.

it’s the same lazy analysis that proved foolish last year on Hollywood Brown. (Some system they don’t use anymore isn’t a good fit)

all that said I think sunday was them playing a bad defense and their running game isn’t going  to be that good. It’s way too early to make conclusions on anyone. Edwards has a lot of talent and anyone can breakout. But I think the hype was based primarily on a bad assumption
