WR DK Metcalf, PIT (1 Viewer)

If Russ misses time, I think DK might be OK. I’d be more concerned about Lockett given his more precise timing with Russ.

DK Metcalf (foot) was downgraded to "DNP" in Thursday's practice.

Egads. Perhaps the Seahawks are just managing Metcalf's reps, but the mid-week downgrade is never what you want to see. Even if the Seahawks have yet to express concern over Metcalf's Week 6 status, he must now be considered genuinely questionable for Sunday evening's game against the Steelers. Hopefully we gain some clarity, or at least a "limited" practice, on Friday. Metcalf's absence would leave fill-in QB Geno Smith with Freddie Swain as the No. 2 behind Tyler Lockett. Hardly ideal.

DK Metcalf caught 6-of-7 targets for 58 yards in the Seahawks' Week 6 loss to the Steelers.

Metcalf was Geno Smith's most productive option, but that's not saying much on a night when the veteran quarterback had just 209 yards. His most notable play came at the end of regulation when he decided not to step out of bounds as the Seahawks tried to get in field goal range and ended up fumbling. Freddie Swain fortunately recovered and ran the ball back to the middle of the field, allowing Jason Myers to tie the game as the clock hit triple zeroes. Metcalf should be bumped down into WR2 territory until Russell Wilson returns from his finger injury. Still, the third-year pro's talent as well as Seattle's highly concentrated passing attack keeps Metcalf as a starting-caliber option for fantasy purposes despite the suboptimal quarterback play.

DK Metcalf caught 2-of-5 targets for 96 yards and one touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 7 loss to the Saints.

On Geno Smith's first pass of the game, he hit a streaking Metcalf down the right sideline, who manhandled Marshon Lattimore for the football and ran right down the field for the long score. Smith mustered 83 yards the rest of the night and didn't target Metcalf again until the fourth quarter. The quarterback play is just so bad in Seattle right now with Russell Wilson (finger) still out. Metcalf is doing his best to survive it and will be a volatile WR2 next week against the Jaguars.

He has? First I've heard of that.

He practiced yesterday. Seems odd, coming off a bye, practiced yesterday, DNP today.
There's an October 14th update in this very thread about Metcalf missing practice due to a foot injury. I don't think he's had a full week of practice in a month.

Props to me for being smart enough to avoid this bum...

Oh yeah, I took Ridley and Hopkins instead.

he almost had a one handed long td grab in this game.

i have to keep starting him.  the whole team kinda sucks right now......

Yes, he did a great job of almost making that a TD. Vintage Russ would have put that ball in a better spot.

Definitely tough to bench him because he can go nuclear at any given time, just hasn't happened yet. The positives are that Russ should be getting a bit more comfortable post-injury, the defense isn't holding teams down, and their running game is basically in shambles. So Russ should hopefully be throwing the ball more down the stretch.

DK Metcalf caught 1-of-4 targets for 13 yards in the Seahawks' Week 12 loss to Washington.

Metcalf wasn't targeted in the first half and didn't see his first look until there was 4:25 left in the third frame. He didn't catch his pass until there was 1:02 on the clock in the fourth quarter. Russell Wilson threw 31 passes. Someone needs to be fired in Seattle. In Wilson's three games back from I.R., Metcalf has scoreless receiving lines of 3-26, 4-31, and 1-13. He'll be a WR2 next week against San Francisco, but something has to change on offense for the Seahawks. They're flat-out bad right now.

Is DK not a good route runner? Just relying on size and speed to get open?

Not sure how much validity there is to it, but the booth team suggested that he only lines up on the outside and runs all upfield routes. Made it sound like he's easy to defend via bracketing. Suggested SEA needs to be moving him around.

Couple this with Russ NOT being the same QB since the finger came unhinged. I wouldn't be shocked if he has a follow-up (corrective) procedure in the off season. Ball seems to be sailing on him a lot.

defender is 8 yards off him.  How do you not just ONCE hike and it and throw it to him.  It’s essentially a running play.  If he breaks a tackle it’s a 12 yard gain,  how do you not try that once?

Its amazing that they somehow found an even worse playcaller than Schotty. No reason a freak like Metcalf shouldn't have 8+ targets every week, and have plays designed for him. This team actively handcuffs itself.

That game sucked! Russel sucked! Seattle sucks!

All I needed was a measly 5.5 out of DK. Could be a first with him seeing the BN, or perhaps a Flex start next week. I'm not sure Seattle and Pete will fix this team. No fun to watch 3 and out and punt, punt, punt, punt, punt - not once, but twice. Terrible show they displayed in the NFL.

I needed a little less than 3 points from Metcalf for a win - thought it was a lock. I thought wrong.
As a DK owner rooting for a minimum of 3-4 catches and 30-40 yards low floor, you'd think your 3 points would be a 96% or more lock. That game sucked! It was perhaps my top game of all time that I endured to the end to no prevail. S s s ssss sucks, Caddy Shack. Yes, sucks!

The SEA offense looks completely lost. Wilson came back too soon... he looks terrible as a result.

Would love to have seen DK in a presser after that game when a reporter asks about his 7-0 declaration to close the season.

Guess all we can hope for is a squeaky-wheel-gets-the-grease game for DK next weekend versus the Niners.

Assume it will look like the 2nd half last night when they were trying to force him the ball.

Looking back at it... I guess his 2nd half was was infinitely better than his 1st? 🤷‍♂️

He hasn't been on the injury report, but maybe his foot is bothering more than what is being let on. I'd rather think it's more of of the offense/play calling though as this can potentially be corrected.

DK and Russ have played 3 games together since DK's OnlyFans Foursome story broke.   His lines in those games..

- 3-26-0

- 4-31-0

- 1-13-0

Remember Russ preaches against non-marital sex.   Russ is probably telling DK that he needs to find Jesus.

What's to be made of DK ... Such a terrible streak he's on, but still a rather short-term slump so far.

If I offered something like Mixon, Elijah Moore, and Bateman, for DK, Ezekiel Elliott, and Saquon Barkley, would you personally consider that a lowball offer? If I added in a mid-low 2nd, or two or three if them, does that move the needle? Metcalf and Barkley are just so cold, Mixon so hot, Moore and Bateman are solid young prospects. I feel like both sides are risky. Both teams are sitting in the bottom two playoff spots. He could be willing to pay high for Mixon to make the push.

FBG has him as a solid WR2 this week (#16 WR).  Would love to hear the reasoning for this.  My playoff life is on the line next week.

Because he's DK Metcalf and he could finish as a top 5 WR or a WR3. Hence, the average is #16 WR lol

Extremely volatile but I'd play him if you could use the spark. SF can't really cover anyone and Wilson could get it right any day now, but it's certainly risky.

Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron said he wants to get the ball to DK Metcalf more in Week 13.

“We’ve got to get to get the guy the ball,” Waldron said following Metcalf's one-catch, four-target outing last week against the Football Team. “We’re going to keep working to get that done, not making any excuses about different things that happen throughout the course of the game. It’s just something we have to get done.” Metcalf has been a fantasy non-factor since Russell Wilson's return from a finger injury. He has just eight receptions in those three games; he didn't record his lone Week 12 reception against Washington until the game's waning moments. Waldron joins Wilson in saying the offense needs to funnel more looks to their dominant wideout. The squeaky wheel narrative is certainly in play for Metcalf this week against the 49ers. He should remain in lineups.

Any connection with “DK Metcalf’s potential foursome”, and Russell Wilson’s strong Christian beliefs being the reason Russell hasn’t been looking DK’s way?  Just google “DK Metcalf foursome” and you see what I’m referring to.  I  think it was supposed to had taking place around the end of October.  I thought Wilson was deliberately not targeting DK and this kinda confirms it for me.

If this is true, Wilson should be fired.

He also got 2 catches in his game with Geno against NO. Is Geno in on this as well?
Haha.  All I am saying is if Russell isn't looking DK's way because of his beliefs, he shouldn't be a QB in the NFL.  Imagine if you will - Russell's entire offensive line is extra religious, and Russell is a devil worshipper.  What would happen to his linemen if it was proven that they were letting pass rushers free to crush Wilson?
