Is it the system, Russell, route running? What's holding him back?Could be the number one overall wr with more targets

DK Metcalf (foot) was downgraded to "DNP" in Thursday's practice.
Egads. Perhaps the Seahawks are just managing Metcalf's reps, but the mid-week downgrade is never what you want to see. Even if the Seahawks have yet to express concern over Metcalf's Week 6 status, he must now be considered genuinely questionable for Sunday evening's game against the Steelers. Hopefully we gain some clarity, or at least a "limited" practice, on Friday. Metcalf's absence would leave fill-in QB Geno Smith with Freddie Swain as the No. 2 behind Tyler Lockett. Hardly ideal.

DK Metcalf caught 6-of-7 targets for 58 yards in the Seahawks' Week 6 loss to the Steelers.
Metcalf was Geno Smith's most productive option, but that's not saying much on a night when the veteran quarterback had just 209 yards. His most notable play came at the end of regulation when he decided not to step out of bounds as the Seahawks tried to get in field goal range and ended up fumbling. Freddie Swain fortunately recovered and ran the ball back to the middle of the field, allowing Jason Myers to tie the game as the clock hit triple zeroes. Metcalf should be bumped down into WR2 territory until Russell Wilson returns from his finger injury. Still, the third-year pro's talent as well as Seattle's highly concentrated passing attack keeps Metcalf as a starting-caliber option for fantasy purposes despite the suboptimal quarterback play.

DK Metcalf caught 2-of-5 targets for 96 yards and one touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 7 loss to the Saints.
On Geno Smith's first pass of the game, he hit a streaking Metcalf down the right sideline, who manhandled Marshon Lattimore for the football and ran right down the field for the long score. Smith mustered 83 yards the rest of the night and didn't target Metcalf again until the fourth quarter. The quarterback play is just so bad in Seattle right now with Russell Wilson (finger) still out. Metcalf is doing his best to survive it and will be a volatile WR2 next week against the Jaguars.

He's had that for like 3 weeks now. No concern on DK, unlike Godwin.DNP (foot).
After a bye?
Was he hanging out with Godwin?

There's an October 14th update in this very thread about Metcalf missing practice due to a foot injury. I don't think he's had a full week of practice in a month. He has? First I've heard of that.
He practiced yesterday. Seems odd, coming off a bye, practiced yesterday, DNP today.
Next up, Golladay? Van? Toney?if Wilson can get right, DK will be fine…Props to me for being smart enough to avoid this bum...
Oh yeah, I took Ridley and Hopkins instead.
Yes, he did a great job of almost making that a TD. Vintage Russ would have put that ball in a better spot.he almost had a one handed long td grab in this game.
i have to keep starting him. the whole team kinda sucks right now......
DK Metcalf caught 1-of-4 targets for 13 yards in the Seahawks' Week 12 loss to Washington.
Metcalf wasn't targeted in the first half and didn't see his first look until there was 4:25 left in the third frame. He didn't catch his pass until there was 1:02 on the clock in the fourth quarter. Russell Wilson threw 31 passes. Someone needs to be fired in Seattle. In Wilson's three games back from I.R., Metcalf has scoreless receiving lines of 3-26, 4-31, and 1-13. He'll be a WR2 next week against San Francisco, but something has to change on offense for the Seahawks. They're flat-out bad right now.

Is DK not a good route runner? Just relying on size and speed to get open?
defender is 8 yards off him. How do you not just ONCE hike and it and throw it to him. It’s essentially a running play. If he breaks a tackle it’s a 12 yard gain, how do you not try that once? Not sure how much validity there is to it, but the booth team suggested that he only lines up on the outside and runs all upfield routes. Made it sound like he's easy to defend via bracketing. Suggested SEA needs to be moving him around.
Couple this with Russ NOT being the same QB since the finger came unhinged. I wouldn't be shocked if he has a follow-up (corrective) procedure in the off season. Ball seems to be sailing on him a lot.
Its amazing that they somehow found an even worse playcaller than Schotty. No reason a freak like Metcalf shouldn't have 8+ targets every week, and have plays designed for him. This team actively handcuffs itself.defender is 8 yards off him. How do you not just ONCE hike and it and throw it to him. It’s essentially a running play. If he breaks a tackle it’s a 12 yard gain, how do you not try that once?
As a DK owner rooting for a minimum of 3-4 catches and 30-40 yards low floor, you'd think your 3 points would be a 96% or more lock. That game sucked! It was perhaps my top game of all time that I endured to the end to no prevail. S s s ssss sucks, Caddy Shack. Yes, sucks!I needed a little less than 3 points from Metcalf for a win - thought it was a lock. I thought wrong.

Guess all we can hope for is a squeaky-wheel-gets-the-grease game for DK next weekend versus the Niners.
I would love to see Seattle line DK up as a RB like Deebo and Patterson.
Remember Russ preaches non-marital sex. Russ is probably telling DK that he needs to find Jesus.
Because he's DK Metcalf and he could finish as a top 5 WR or a WR3. Hence, the average is #16 WR lolFBG has him as a solid WR2 this week (#16 WR). Would love to hear the reasoning for this. My playoff life is on the line next week.
Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron said he wants to get the ball to DK Metcalf more in Week 13.
“We’ve got to get to get the guy the ball,” Waldron said following Metcalf's one-catch, four-target outing last week against the Football Team. “We’re going to keep working to get that done, not making any excuses about different things that happen throughout the course of the game. It’s just something we have to get done.” Metcalf has been a fantasy non-factor since Russell Wilson's return from a finger injury. He has just eight receptions in those three games; he didn't record his lone Week 12 reception against Washington until the game's waning moments. Waldron joins Wilson in saying the offense needs to funnel more looks to their dominant wideout. The squeaky wheel narrative is certainly in play for Metcalf this week against the 49ers. He should remain in lineups.

If this is true, Wilson should be fired.Any connection with “DK Metcalf’s potential foursome”, and Russell Wilson’s strong Christian beliefs being the reason Russell hasn’t been looking DK’s way? Just google “DK Metcalf foursome” and you see what I’m referring to. I think it was supposed to had taking place around the end of October. I thought Wilson was deliberately not targeting DK and this kinda confirms it for me.
He also got 2 catches in his game with Geno against NO. Is Geno in on this as well?If this is true, Wilson should be fired.
Haha. All I am saying is if Russell isn't looking DK's way because of his beliefs, he shouldn't be a QB in the NFL. Imagine if you will - Russell's entire offensive line is extra religious, and Russell is a devil worshipper. What would happen to his linemen if it was proven that they were letting pass rushers free to crush Wilson? He also got 2 catches in his game with Geno against NO. Is Geno in on this as well?
