If you own Chase like I do, he was your number #1 pick and you were probably drafting pretty high- I got him at #4 and thought it was a huge steal.

I don’t care what happens today. I don’t care if Browning sucks. I wouldn’t care if Charlie Brown was the QB or my grandmother who is 127 and hasn’t been alive for 30 years. If Chase is playing he’s starting for me. Hell, I might start him during his bye week. He’s always starting for me.

Chase is actually 18th in yards among receivers and tied for 6th in receptions. He's 18th in fantasy points while Jefferson is 15th. Not great, but other than Puka and Amon-Ra (maybe Jaxon Smith-Njiba) you'd be awfully surprised by the top 12 fantasy WRs.

I don't know what to tell you, but the guys who have shaky QB situations or shaky offensive lines aren't faring so well.

But I think your implication that Jefferson was getting it done with a QB2 who is lesser than his QB1. He's not. His QB1, McCarthy, who was the starting quarterback for MN, was a whole lot worse for the MN passing game in his two games than Wentz is. Sure you couldn't give Chase away with Browning now, but see if anybody wanted Jefferson if McCarthy was still starting.

Not sure it's even worth arguing. I already pointed out that Jefferson was 44 and 81 with one touchdown when McCarthy was there. He's as QB-dependent as they come, which you certainly did imply was not the case and that is not a straw man at all or you wouldn't have comped the two and used the language you did.

You're right, it's not worth arguing. I was just making the point i'd rather have JJ going forward, despite his QB situation being somewhat similar. I picked him out because he's another premium WR that lost his starting QB.

Most WRs drafted in the top 3 rounds have struggled, Only Puka, St Brown and JSN have been worthy of their pick. Chase, Lamb, Nabers, London, Thomas, McConkey, Jefferson, AJ Brown, Higgins, Collins. They've all disappointed for various reasons. I struggle to recall a year when so many WRs considered "bullet proof" by many, have been this bad. O lines around the league are dreadful and general QB play is poor as well.

We can absolutely agree that the receivers drafted in the first three rounds have indeed been disappointing for different reasons thus far, and that seems to be the crux of your point, so I'll also leave it alone because you're pretty much right and everything else would be nitpicking.

I will say that there are guys on that list that have a good shot to turn it around and be very good and worthy of their 1st or 2nd round pick, especially Jefferson, Collins, London, and AJ if Philly can stop being really freaking weird with their play calling.

I think so. Russ isn't bad. He's not what he once was, but he's still capable of moving an offense, and he's never had weapons of this caliber. The OL is an issue too, but Browning just seems, I don't know, afraid to really go for it. Russ isn't. Jameis isn't either, but he's WAY more turnover prone than Russ is.

The schedule doesn't get much better, not bad playoff matchups, if you or chase is alive by then.

Dynasty/keeper it has not been a great year outside of the 1 game. Personally I'm holding as this is a guy I want on my team for the next 3 years unless I get some offer I can't resist.

We'll never know the answer to this and obviously things would be a lot better but if Burrow had not got injured I think the narrative very likely would have been how disappointing he has been for fantasy the first few weeks. We know he struggled in game one, was merely ok in his brief week 2. But that OL, lack of scheming and schedule are all real factors that are tough for any QB to deal with. Eventually Burrow would have figured it out, but this is almost stupid to say but " only if he could have stayed healthy". I feel like if the toe injury did not get him another one likely would have soon because he was getting hit constantly. I swear about a day or two before he went down I was talking to a friend of mine telling him how worried I was about him, how he might go down as Andrew Luck 2.0, because I had a bunch of Tee/Chase on my redraft teams and he was taking way to many hits.

But all that being said I was thinking last night how the Bengals remind me of last years Dolphins when Tua went down. Not the same stratosphere of QB but in the way the entire Dolpins offense just crumbled, they only had one guy on that roster who could make it work. That's were Cincy is right now.

I think a Russ or Winston would help the fantasy numbers for the offense, Jameis for sure, but not sure they'd be better for the team with neither knowing the system and dealing with the OL. If the Giants every made on of them available I'm afraid it's not likely to be Jameis, not likely at all.

Browning should be a little better. As was pointed out he faced two strong D's and I think mentally he was extra conservative last night after that debacle against the Vikings.

Kind of makes me wonder if WR's are worth all this money a lot of them are getting? They need so much around them to be in place in order for them to impact the game to the level of their pay.

I swear about a day or two before he went down I was talking to a friend of mine telling him how worried I was about him, how he might go down as Andrew Luck 2.0, because I had a bunch of Tee/Chase on my redraft teams and he was taking way to many hits.

But all that being said I was thinking last night how the Bengals remind me of last years Dolphins when Tua went down. Not the same stratosphere of QB but in the way the entire Dolpins offense just crumbled, they only had one guy on that roster who could make it work. That's were Cincy is right now.

I think a Russ or Winston would help the fantasy numbers for the offense, Jameis for sure, but not sure they'd be better for the team with neither knowing the system and dealing with the OL. If the Giants every made on of them available I'm afraid it's not likely to be Jameis, not likely at all.

Browning should be a little better. As was pointed out he faced two strong D's and I think mentally he was extra conservative last night after that debacle against the Vikings.

Kind of makes me wonder if WR's are worth all this money a lot of them are getting? They need so much around them to be in place in order for them to impact the game to the level of their pay.

All great points. The one thing I'd say with Burrow is, and now with 4 games to see, I think AN injury was inevitable seeing how its developing, the sole thing Burrow might have been able to do, is keep the defense slightly more honest. Perhaps he's a little more mobile than Browning, could better call out a protection, that sort of thing. And also probably connect on these deep shots a little more.

Taylor is just so unimpressive, this week is big to see if he can correct anything because its just the same mistakes and he's seemingly trying to run the same offense and its plainly not connecting.

Trying to think of a bigger non-injury bust in recent times. WRs have been tough this year, Lamb hurt, Nabers done for the year. Can't get over how bad it's looking for Chase. I mean Vikes lost their starting QB and Jefferson still hitting 100yds no problem. What can we do here? Can't cut him, nobody wants to trade for him. Brutal.

I do not think that Chase is cooked, but that thing in Cinci is a hot mess. I am no longer on the Bill wagon so I might actually conisder that offer, if it included some promise of production somewhere. I don't see much upside with any of the four players as Waddle's inconsistency just does not drive me to give away Chase the WR.

I think the guy wants to send him Ja'Marr Chase and Bill. Do that. Now. Bill is insane. His stats and PFF grades are nuts. I can't promise anything, but he shoud be starting by Week 8.

I imagine 2-3 more weeks with Browning which are equally miserable to what we've seen, followed by a benching of Browning for God knows who.

Or, maybe in that 2nd or 3rd week they figure SOMETHING out such that Chase returns some value.

That said, Bill's arrow may still be pointing up for those who are patient, Chase Brown looks even more hopeless than Jamar, and people can say what they will about Waddle's opportunity with Tyreek out, I don't think he capitalizes, largely because the volume uptick will almost assuredly lead to an injury of his own in short order.

Verdict: I'm probably taking that trade pending team needs but I'm not terribly excited about it.

Playing a high scoring Lions team with a depleted secondary should result in good week for Chase. At least in theory.
