X-Files Coming Back - The Truth is out there! (2 Viewers)

If you're itching for more X-Files news, new footage will be shown Thursday, July 23 during the season finale of Wayward Pines (at 9/8c on Fox).

I'll say this for the X-files... They did the whole series to a "final movie" thing right. That was a decent flick.

My brother works for Fox and has seen the whole thing. Says it is awful. That the third episode is best but still not as good as a decent episode from the original run. Alan Sepinwall said the premiere is so bad that he would recommend skipping it.

More folks joining the come back!!!!
The Cigarette Smoking Man was disintegrated by a missile! I saw it happen with my own eyes!
you think you saw it.

your eyes play tricks on you, you play tricks right back.

can't wait for this... (uh-oh... seeing the post above this is making me nervous). we just rewatched the pilot, which I figured would feel dated and stupid... ... held up nicely and was fun to see how quickly they establish their chemistry. "they" being smoking man and his cigs.

First 3 episodes were graded by Entertainment Weekly. First episode is nothing special. 2nd one is alright. 3rd one is good.

I will watch all three and give my own grades.

Fell asleep 20 minutes into it. Sounds like I didn't miss much. Will still give it a shot though.

"Scully! Stop whatever you're doing, I've got to tell you this right now! What if everything was a lie? What if the conspiracy was actually a conspiracy made to look like a bigger conspiracy? What if what we thought was the truth was just another lie? This is very important, listen to me Scully, I just had this new idea today and it undoes everything I've believed my whole life!"

"Mulder, what are you talking about? Tell me what you mean."

"I can't. Gotta go, bye!"
:lmao: :goodposting:

Shorty thereafter I handed the remote to Mrs Bats and went to sleep. Try and finish it some other day.

I enjoyed the nostalgia but yeah this part and the part with the Doctor making mulder guess before he could say anything were pretty dumb.

awwwww heck i will watch it bromigos i liked the original and it had ups and downs as it went some episodes and stories that lasted a few were great and some were get me another sixer bad so it is what it is and if you like if you better watch it or else take that to the bank brohans

DVR hosed me due to game running long. I didn't think it was any better or worse than the originals. Will keep watching because we are in a slow period otherwise.

Never watched the original and from the sounds of it I won't be watching this run of it either.

It was kinda fun and I keep seeing in different places that it does improve. That said, I enjoyed it because it is one of my all-time favorite shows, so it had some serious nostalgia value. That and I enjoy good conspiracy talk. If you didn't watch the original or hold any interest in Roswell, alien junk, I could see it being pretty brutal.

thanks for checking in brohan i will not be fighting in a cage match today so bam neither one of us are doing things take that to the bank bromigo

I liked it

It's never gonna be what it was, but its cool to see these characters again. I'm in for the ride.

thought it could have been worse

typical xfiles imo

first and last episodes are more based on the foundation

2-5 will be where its at

After 8 years or whatever of Californication it's hard to take David Duchovny seriously.

I think I'll just avoid the show and stream it after its finished up.

Scullys voice has got raspy over the years. It kind of bugs me.

This. It wasn't great but also think the harsh reviews (both here & online) are over stated. It's great seeing the old characters again & kind of felt like an old shoe. The only thing truely bad was Jillian's plastic surgery. In

Great show!

Just caught up on episode 1. It was ok and I will watch the rest the season. I could nitpick but I'll just enjoy it for what it is...a revival of TV series about UFOs and such that ended in 2002 with aging, mediocre actors. IIRC, not every episode of the original series was spectacular.

Level of writing is off from before, lacking the wit and sharpness that made the show good. The above is a perfect example.

Still enjoyed seeing them back together and don't mind the acting or overall direction of the plot. Will definitely watch second ep.

look brohans i think that if you go back and watch the originals versus this it is not that must better or worse one way or the other it just is what it is i think that netflix shows and all that have ruined us so that we think it is either netflix good or reality crap and there is no in between but there is take that to the bank bromigos

I liked it, but then again we were big fans from before.

However, I always believed they let the series go too long snd should have wrapped it up after 6 seasons.

Look forward to next week's monster episode...

I'm in.

But they've given Mulder the most ridiculous rambling lines that go nowhere. Especially in episode 1. Terrible.

Everything else is cool. Especially puffing through a tracheotomy.

Episodes like Rain King, Small Potatoes, Arcadia, Post Modern Prometheus and the Lily Tomlin/Ed Asner Xmas episode still hold up pretty well today.
All good ones. A few others I really remember liking were Soft Light with Tony Shalhoub and D.P.O. with Giovanni Ribisi.

Fan so far. I like the idea that the grans conspiracy is where they are going. Something autism and birth defects and all the like are some kind of way to make humanity evolve with alien DNA. I can go along with that for 6 episodes.

I loved Post Modern Prometheus...lot of heart in that one. Bad Blood was great television...the humor and insight into how Mulder and Scully saw each other was brilliant. X-Files was at its best when they were able to bring mix in comedy, romantic tension, and urban legend.

Of course, Home didn't have any of that and it is just as creepy today as it was when I watched it as a teen. I can still remember all of the scenes from that one. It's hard to forget a story that includes burying a baby alive and brothers keeping their quadruple amputeed mother/sex object on a rolling mat under their bed. So...very...disturbing.

I wish I knew the names of the episodes (I suppose I could look them up), but the two I loved:The episode that took place in the freak show community had some pretty funny moments.

The black and white episode with the comic book monster who loved Cher.

ETA - The first one was called Humbug. The second was Post Modern Prometheus, which was already mentioned.

Glad to see this is on Hulu.

Ep. 1 got better towards the end. Talk Soup guy's rant about the huge govt conspiracy and Americans getting fat and lazy and not paying attention was interesting.

2 episodes in, I'm not that enthused. Hope the next 4 improve. Seems like they're trying to touch on all the usual familiar themes, instead of trying to tell a tight story.
