QB - Dak Prescott - 22

QB - Trey Lance - 7

I think Dak is a top 5 QB with a high weekly floor.  Lance is a guy who will put up good numbers when he gets on the field.  Obviously I hope that is by week 7, or I’ll take a 0 here.

RB - Christian McCaffrey - 39

RB - Austin Ekeler - 28

RB - Josh Jacobs - 22

McCaffrey is a basically a lock to score every week.  Ekeler I think will have a pretty big year in PPR.  I like Jacobs and figured he would be lightly owned.  Figured most rosters would be loaded with a lot of the same guys (Robinson, Edwards, etc.) and wanted to go a different direction.  Only 3 RBs is dangerous but with one being McCaffrey I think it’s doable barring injury.

WR - Calvin Ridley - 27

WR - CeeDee Lamb - 23

WR - Tee Higgins - 18

WR - Marquez Callaway - 5

WR - Bryan Edwards - 4

WR - Marquez Valdes-Scantling - 3

I think both Ridley and Lamb are top 5 WRs this year and were the first additions to my team.  I think Higgins is a good bet for double digit TDs.  After that a few cheap options that will be pretty popular.

TE - T.J. Hockenson - 19

TE - Mark Andrews - 16

Would have liked Kelce but wanted to avoid the late bye.  Think both Hockenson and Andrews will catch a ton of balls as the WR corps on their teams are atrocious.

PK - Brandon McManus - 3

PK - Jake Elliott - 3

PK - Tristan Vizcaino - 3

PK - Evan McPherson - 2

TD - New York Jets - 2

TD - Dallas Cowboys - 2

TD - Las Vegas Raiders - 2

A few cheap options to hopefully get lucky each week.

I don't meant to be a smartalec but you got more K's than RBs.....oh wow.....

RIP Gus.

It will be interesting to see if there is still a bias against have late bye guys on roosters.  with the uniform cut percentage that really should be in play as much compared to being careful about the teams that are off when only 2 have the bye

Lol... I mean, that is genuinely awesome.

It’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for 'em.

Lots of Gus Edwards owners were counting on him as a cheap #2 RB in this contest, including me. Injuries suck, but I'd rather lose an $11 player than a $30 player.

The early advantage now goes to those with contest teams that zigged rather than zagged by not having Gus on their rosters. It was a gutsy move to leave him off because his value was stellar.

I looked to add Williams to back up Gus before the contest closed.  Sadly Joe had him squirreled away in a plastic bubble to keep him from also getting injured.

Yes. That was it. I made a gusty move based on brilliance.

It wasn't falling in love with another player or two somewhat irrationally xD

RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/10 - $27
RB - Antonio Gibson - WAS/9 - $26
RB - James Robinson - JAX/7 - $16
RB - Gus Edwards - BAL/8 - $11
RB - Sony Michel - LAR/11 - $5
RB - Rhamondre Stevenson - NE/14 - $3

My RB1 varied from Barkley, Elliott to Mixon. Saved a buck by going Mixon over Barkley. Really like Elliott but same bye as Robinson. Gibson and Robinson never left my lineup although I don't like the presence of Hyde. Considered going Harris over Robinson but that late week 14 bye was iffy. Once Dobbins got hurt Edwards was a main fixture and no-brainer. Michel has the potential to take the majority of carries in LA. Never liked predicting a NE backfield but all you need is a 2 TD game by Stevenson.

WR - Tee Higgins - CIN/10 - $18
WR - Chase Claypool - PIT/7 - $17
WR - Jerry Jeudy - DEN/11 - $16
WR - Corey Davis - NYJ/6 - $10
WR - Antonio Brown - TB/9 - $10
WR - Jakobi Meyers - NE/14 - $6
WR - Bryan Edwards - LV/8 - $4
WR - Marquez Valdes-Scantling - GB/13 - $3

The 3 WRs from Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Denver were always in play here. Switched between Boyd or Higgins, Jeudy or Sutton and Claypool orJohnson. Really like Corey Davis potential but alternated between him and Eliajah Moore as well to save a dollar. Ultimately went with the safer Davis. Antonio Brown at $10 was always solid in my roster. Bryan Edwards is a no-brainer at the $4 price. Reports out of GB are that MVS has really shown improvement and maturity this off-season. Not sure I'd trust him in weekly lineups but best ball at $3 I'm in. Switched between Meyers and Callaway many, many times. Not sure what happens when T. Smith and Trautman comes back but I like Callaway.

TE - Kyle Pitts - ATL/6 - $17
TE - Mark Andrews - BAL/8 - $16
TE - Jonnu Smith - NE/14 - $9

Always wanted to go big here with the 1.5 PPR. Went back and forth between Hock and Pitts. saved the $2 and banking on Pitts but he has me nervous as a rookie TE. That's where Andrews comes in as insurance and I expect to get a flex score between these two a couple of times. 3rd TE was all over the place. Settled on Smith for his potential. Had Everett here as well. Also liked Gronk, especially in best ball for those 2 TD games. Just sooo many weapons in TB though. I suspect this will be my biggest regret.

TD - Dallas Cowboys - DAL/7 - $2
TD - Las Vegas Raiders - LV/8 - $2

Mixed kinda day for my rooster decisions.

Can't do anything about Edwards injury but that's going to leave a mark.

Had confidence in Brown in a best ball format.

Really, really, really going to regret the Gronk decision

Dall D, at least for one game, looked decent

I swapped basically Antonio and Gus for lamb last minute. :oldunsure:

Ugh here is the rooster I had on the middle of 9/7 - should have kept this:

QB - Brady Burrow Lance

RB - Chubb Carson Robinson Gus Michel

WR - Lamb Sutton Beckham Antonio Callawst Edwards Crowder Toney M-V-S

TE - Pitts Firsker Everett Arnold

PK - McManus Elliott McPherson

TD - Colts Jets Bengals

That is so much better.  Arrrrrrgh.

Here's where I ended up.  Not ready to hit the panic button on Zeke yet, but his usage last night is at least concerning.  Went with a lot of pass-catching RBs and #2 WRs.  I always try to pair up my QB with a top pass-catching option.  Will I be gone sooner rather than later?  Probably.  I figure if nothing else this roster is unique.  Flame away!

QB - Dak Prescott - 22
QB - Sam Darnold - 8
QB - Jared Goff - 8
RB - Ezekiel Elliott - 27
RB - Kareem Hunt - 20
RB - James Conner - 17
RB - Kenyan Drake - 14
RB - Nyheim Hines - 11
RB - Tevin Coleman - 9
WR - CeeDee Lamb - 23
WR - Robby Anderson - 16
WR - Mecole Hardman - 10
WR - Parris Campbell - 6
WR - Marquez Callaway - 5
WR - Bryan Edwards - 4
WR - DWayne Eskridge - 3
TE - T.J. Hockenson - 19
TE - C.J. Uzomah - 7
TE - Chris Herndon - 5
PK - Younghoe Koo - 4
PK - Brandon McManus - 3
TD - Los Angeles Rams - 6
TD - Chicago Bears - 3

No. That's a multi thousand dollar thing we couldn't afford for this.

The calcomatic is one thing for an individual to do but it's scraping NFL.com stats which is not something we want to do.
Live stats feeds are crazy expensive to do legally. When I had Blastats it was $30K for the season for just the NFL, and that was like 13ish years ago.

Small sample, but I just picked  the first 10 entries from the results page (which appears randomly sequenced?):

6 - Callaway, Kelce

5 - N Harris, Stevenson, Michel

4 - AB, Gus, Fields, Odell, Mostert, Koo

3 - Big Ben, Winston, Brady, Robinson, Ridley, Meyers, C Davis, Browns, Broncos

Might add more later if I can figure out a scraper

QB - Jameis Winston - 10
QB - Mac Jones - 9
QB - Justin Fields - 7

I've never gone this cheap before on QB, and it probably will potentially be my undoing....however if Jameis somehow can throw up a few 300yd, 3TD games until Fields gets going I might be ok.

  • RB - Najee Harris - 25
    RB - Javonte Williams - 18
    RB - James Robinson - 16
    RB - Gus Edwards - 11
    RB - Sony Michel - 5
Bye Gus. Hopefully I'll get enough from Harris and Robinson until week 7 when I'll need Javonte to take over in Denver

  • WR - Justin Jefferson - 25
    WR - Terry McLaurin - 23
    WR - Darnell Mooney - 11
    WR - Corey Davis - 10
    WR - Antonio Brown - 10
    WR - Rondale Moore - 9
    WR - Marquez Callaway - 5
    WR - Bryan Edwards - 4
Had Lamb, Ridley, Adams all at some point, decided on Justin and Terry as 2 that could have monster weeks at any given time. Everyone else will be popular choices b/c of value/opportunity.

  • TE - T.J. Hockenson - 19
    TE - Mark Andrews - 16
    TE - Zach Ertz - 7
Wanted 3TE. Couldn't fit in a Kelce, Waller, or Kittle, so tried the "potential" of TJ plus Lamar locking into Andrews with all the WR injured. Ertz just screamed to be added now that he's settled for the year and looking good.

  • PK - Daniel Carlson - 3
    PK - Brandon McManus - 3
    TD - Philadelphia Eagles - 2
    TD - Dallas Cowboys - 2
    Total value: 250
Meh, Kickers and Defenses...Cowboys D actually looked decent last night in forcing takeaways/rushing the QB.

Seeing a bunch of people post AB for $10 in here left me with instant regret that only got worse last night as he looked fantastic
At several stages I had AB, but opted to switch it up.

which is balanced well by having Gus in one of my last couple lineups & deciding to switch that up.

Ya give a little, ya take a little.
:)

Went:

Allen (26), Fields (7), Lance (7)

Gibson (26), JRob (16), Gus (11), White (10), Stevenson (3), Gallman (3)

Metcalf (28), AJB (27), Anderson (16), Callaway (5), Renfrow (5), Crowder (4), Toney (3)

Waller (27), Hurst (7), Rudolph (3)

Carlson (3), Hopkins (3)

Bills (4), Packers (2), Cowboys (2), Titans (2)

Largely because the entry form doesn't show the bye weeks tbh.

I create a quick excel file that tracks bye weeks and cost, both overall and by position. Almost every time I tweak my line-up I edit the file. But I don't keep copies of what I had, I just replace and save so my previous versions are wiped away, just like shaking an etch-a-sketch.

I did the exact same thing, using simple formulas to add up the lineup values.  :hifive:

it was driving me nuts that I had to click “submit” to figure out BYE week issues.

At the end of the day i still ended up with a couple of “bad” BYEs in terms of $, but not necessarily my top players being out all at once.

QB - Tom Brady - 17
QB - Aaron Rodgers - 17
RB - Saquon Barkley - 28
RB - James Robinson - 16
RB - Ronald Jones - 11

TE - T.J. Hockenson - 19
TE - Mike Gesicki - 12
PK - Jason Sanders - 4
PK - Daniel Carlson - 3
TD - New England Patriots - 6
TD - New Orleans Saints - 4

Edwards goin down really hurts my RB depth obviously.......I know, join the club

Three quans went to IR so it will be interesting to see how Kamara, Jameis and Callaway do hosting the packers in Jacksonville.  Apparently the receiver is Little Wayne or Little Bo Peep, not sure which.

My thinking on this was that McCaffrey is basically a lock to count every week.  So I need one starter between Ekeler and Jacobs each week.  Occasionally both will be playable and I’ll get a flex.

Another way to look at it is overall point expectation for a position.  I’d say most here are shooting for something like 40 points a week average out of their two RBs.   There will be weeks that McCaffrey gets close to that on his own so I may be able to survive a down week from the other two.

High risk strategy obviously but you have to get lucky to win this.  Also this year is by far my least knowledgeable year since I started playing fantasy 15+ years ago so I figured it was better to go with safer bets than try to pick sleepers.

Kicker down, we have a kicker down.

Sam Ficken is questionable for Sunday’s game. I can’t remember if he was an option for the subscriber contest, or if i drafted him.

So given the lack of anyone administrating a live scoring site this year, do any of the play store apps allow you to enter a roster, preferably bestball but if not any roster, and see scoring evolution as games are played or concluded?  Too lazy or jaded to use a trial and error approach hoping to find anything like that.

On the bolded, I agree EXCEPT for the weeks he is injured or has COVID or is a close contact. McCaffrey missed 13 games last year and Ekeler missed six and then there is also the fact that all three have a bye week.

I would call this extremely risky >>> high risk

nevertheless, good luck to you!

Agreed. One injury to one of the RBs before the bye weeks and he'll only get one score from the RB position.

Of course, those that took only 4 RBs with one being Gus Edwards are now in the same position.

if you were on top of it I am impressed
I actually changed my roster to add him, then thought better of if. I swapped out Robinson then decided there was too much unknown about Gus & swapped it back to Robinson. Lucky, really.
