It is challenging to continue to be a Raider fan even though I don’t expect much after losing for decades at a time. Losing Gruden was a gift from the heavens. Ruggs certainly erased hope for this season but the future is still bright for the Raiders. Ruggs can be replaced. He deserves to be in prison. He killed someone! It disgusts me that he would make such a horrible decision. Drink and drive. Drive too fast. During a game week. No excuses.
Same thing that was wrong in Dallas- misses the assignments, gets blocked out of the play, can’t cover well, but is a great tackler 6-15 yards down field. He was a liability on the field, hence the great improvement in the Cowboys defense since he was cut. On the positive side he was a superb teammate, a very nice guy and I guess you could say he loves to celebrate his dance moves after chasing guys down for a tackle (many yards later
). It only took Green Bay two games to see what it took Dallas a year and a half to realize.
You are 100% right. It's one thing to have a coach get fired, a star player tear an ACL, happens all the time. The difference is no one dies in those instances. This tragedy took a very dark and sad turn. Two lives were lost, the young woman had her dog with her, and Ruggs' life is lost short term with a long road ahead for recovery for himself and his family.
If all true (source?), he is done. He won't get 2 years.

I thought Lee was already on active roster... damn, I mean, I keep a pretty good eye on the Raider roster but my head is spinning these days on all the release, sign to PS, sign to roster, promote to roster, returned to PS, etc.
yea, i don't feel sorry for him at all. this was all preventable.
The thing about emotional trauma (aside from the fact that everyone responds differently) is that throwing yourself into your work is a common response while trying to process the trauma.
I don't think anyone is asking you to.
As a young kid /man i drove many times impaired ,its what we did to get from one party to another or bar ,seemed normal back then (the 1980`s) ,but one thing i never did was drive fast . I drove nice and slow ,in my opinion its the speed that increases the odds of dying or killing in a car. Of course being drunk or buzzed or stoned bad things can happen, but its almost the difference between throwing a bullet at someone or shooting it from a gun (im sure this opinion wont go over big). Thank god i never hurt anyone and i havent drank in over 30 years ,and i still dont speed because again, impaired or not speed kills.
Its all about contrition . I had a dear friend killed by a drunk driver .He barreled thru a stop sign and broadsided her ,she was killed on impact . He was speeding thru a neighborhood hammered and had a bunch of buddies in the back of his pickup truck. The police showed up and ushered the guy away as they knew him ,he was never charged with a DUI or vehicular homicide . He basically got off with nothing but a speeding ticket and running a stop sign, if i remember correctly . Problem was he was walking around bragging how he got away with it, he didnt care one bit about the girl he killed and her friends and family that buried her at the age of 23. A person like that is the scum of the earth ,not because he did something horribly dumb, but because he didnt care . I would have forgiven him had he truly felt remorse for his actions . I cant imagine someone like Ruggs wont feel bottom of the barrel contrition for years to come .
Do you know how easy it is to go 100 mph in that vehicle? Your foot slips off the brake and your doing 90 in a blink. If he was driving a 1996 Ford Escort we wouldn't be having this discussion. Which is part of the issue.

I made a similar comment to my neighbour tonight. I've been driving for 25+ years, in a variety of situations, vehicles and (weather) conditions. IMO a brand new corvette is simply too much car for a young inexperienced sober driver. Add in driving under the influence and that is a terrible situation.Bruno2 said:

Sorry, I didn't want to sound like I was defending him. No way do I condone anything that happened. The point I was trying to make is that woman and her dog may have survived if he was not enabled to drive at such a high rate of speed. Nothing makes his actions any more accountable.

That's completely in line with Carr, I would expect nothing less. Carr is very open about his faith, seems to just be a pretty sweet guy all around.

Hey Mass, I'd like to add myself to that dumb list you speak of. I don't need to detail the stories but right there with you that this kind of thing could have easily happen to me at certain points in my life.
