103389 here!

I made it to the Sweet 16!!!! Hopefully my actual contest team makes it to the same place in the final standings.
im honestly SHOCKED that I tweaked my lineup as much as this chart says.

go team 103389!!!!

439 unhappy Akers owners at halftime
465 unhappy Cook owners at halftime
9 very unhappy Akers/Cook owners at halftime
I have cook as a long game play. But yeah. 1 carry 1 fumble is not a good way to roll. Singletary blew up late last season. If Cook takes over, he can be a Food Bank Hero.

Thanks @Contest Turk :tebow: just wondering - do you know how many 1 and done entries there were as well?
-QG

Y'all aren't going to be able to comprehend this, but it's actually more than half the entries: 6224.
Interesting but awesome. Can you also see the final day they submitted? Wondering, for example, how many thousand people just did a line up once early august and didn't touch it after that.

Yes, I can do that. My guess is that the date of the first submission would be an excellent indicator of contest success. When I get around to it, I'll re-up the raw data download to include number of submissions, date of first submission, and date of last submission, and maybe the total number of distinct days in which they made a submission (that would be a measure of sustained engagement).

@TheWinz ......I found one that may give you a stroke.....$39 on 8 K's/Def teams.....

Check out this guy...
"I don't need no stinkin' flex scores"
If only one of his gazillion K's or Def's could be a flex.....These types of rosters make me feel better for at least a week. You know the first 2-3 weeks will scrape a bunch of these failed the Reading is Fundamental portion of the rules entries off the books...

But....why? That's like ordering a $300 Wagyu Steak and only eating 2/3 of it.....
I imagine some percentage of folks (20%? More? Less?) just sign up for FBG to print out some cheat sheets and maybe use the 5 Second Primer each week. And they likely feel “obligated” to at least fill out the free contest, get bored or confused, and just bail with some form of “valid” roster that doesn’t have any actual chance of winning.

Been sitting on this one for 24 hours, but I have two questions

Your team has been successfully entered.
QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/7 - $19
QB - Davis Mills - HOU/6 - $7
RB - Saquon Barkley - NYG/9 - $26
RB - Damien Harris - NE/10 - $16
RB - Rhamondre Stevenson - NE/10 - $15

RB - Dameon Pierce - HOU/6 - $10
RB - Rachaad White - TB/11 - $8
WR - Michael Pittman - IND/14 - $24
WR - D.J. Moore - CAR/13 - $23
WR - Courtland Sutton - DEN/9 - $19
WR - Christian Kirk - JAX/11 - $16
WR - Isaiah McKenzie - BUF/7 - $6
TE - George Kittle - SF/9 - $18
TE - Dawson Knox - BUF/7 - $14
TE - Taysom Hill - NO/14 - $5
PK - Evan McPherson - CIN/10 - $6
PK - Jake Elliott - PHI/7 - $5
PK - Rodrigo Blankenship - IND/14 - $3
TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/9 - $4
TD - Minnesota Vikings - MIN/7 - $3
TD - Tennessee Titans - TEN/6 - $3

Total value: 250

1. I've used the "take *all* the Patriots RBs and relax" approach for years in this contest, but I don't recall it ever really working out. The best ball format should allow this approach to outwit the tight-lipped Bill Belichick, right? Better rooster construction to plant a flag on one of them? I'm not so sure, when I could combine the salary into Mixon plus a buck.

2. At what point, do we fade D. Pierce? He is such an unquestioned, obvious bargain that he appears on literally every roster I have seen posted here. I faded Gus Edwards last year, to great effect. Pierce has a great opportunity here, and little obvious competition for touches, but he's still an unproven rookie on a team that is not expected to be running out the clock with lead very often this season.

Apologies if these topics were discussed earlier in the thread, I've been working my way through the posts like crazy, but can't seem to catch up to you roster tinkerers. :loco:

Thanks for the feedback, especially your thoughts, @TheWinz

I went out drinking on Wed night, then came home, read your posts, and continued to frantically tinker with my rooster right up to the contest deadline.
Basically, I resolved my previous questions about the Patriots RBs and Dameon Pierce by blowing up my entire RB room. 💣

Looking back now, I think I needed one or two more revisions, because it sure seems like I have taken on some scary bye week risk. :oldunsure:

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/7 - $19
QB - Davis Mills - HOU/6 - $7

RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/10 - $30
RB - Aaron Jones - GB/14 - $27
RB - Chase Edmonds - MIA/11 - $14
RB - Nyheim Hines - IND/14 - $13
RB - Jeff Wilson - SF/9 - $3

WR - Michael Pittman - IND/14 - $24
WR - D.J. Moore - CAR/13 - $23
WR - Courtland Sutton - DEN/9 - $19
WR - Christian Kirk - JAX/11 - $16

TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/7 - $15
TE - Dawson Knox - BUF/7 - $14
TE - Taysom Hill - NO/14 - $5

PK - Evan McPherson - CIN/10 - $6
PK - Jake Elliott - PHI/7 - $5
PK - Rodrigo Blankenship - IND/14 - $3
TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/9 - $4
TD - Tennessee Titans - TEN/6 - $3

At 19 players, this has to be the smallest roster I've ever used in the contest. I checked my records, and my peak was 30 players on my 2011 entry.

Hope one of the posters here takes down the prize!

This is the first year since 2013 you couldn't buy 3 D's for the price of 1. It was the same in 2012. In the 10 years (2010/2011 and 2014 thru 2021) there were 6623 instances where you could purchase 3 for 1. Of those, 6595 times the trio outscored the single = 99.6%

Since you cannot purchase 3 for 1 this year, let's see how it would've worked out if you could only purchase 2 for 1 last year:
PIT ($7) - scored 83 points. There were 312 duos you could've had for $7 or less. Of those, here are all the duos that scored less:
$7 - BAL/LV scored 82 points and had the same bye (so you wouldn't have chosen them)
$7 - BAL/DET scored 76 points
$6 - SEA/DET scored 81 points and had the same bye (so you wouldn't have chosen them)
$4 - DET/LV scored 81 points
The other 308 duos outscored the Steelers = 98.7%. FWIW, PIT was on 5.5% of all teams, with a higher percentage than 15 other teams. What a waste!
Of course I chose PIT to prove my point here, because they finished D21 while being one of the 2 most expensive (TB was the other $7 D). And, just so it doesn't look like I am cherry picking the crappy PIT D from last year, I will provide the stats on the other 13 teams that were $4 and over. That will take a little time though.

Pretty surprised by this tbh. Would have thought the $3 ones would dominate the list.

Continuing on with last year's D's...
TB ($7) - scored 108 points and finished D4. There were 312 duos you could've had for $7 or less. Of those, 63 scored less than TB.
The other 249 duos outscored the Buccaneers = 79.8%. FWIW, TB was on 5.9% of all teams, with a higher percentage than 17 other teams.
Just let this settle in - TB did GREAT and finished D4, yet they were still not worth it, and it's not even close. Also, of those 312 duos, 230 of them costs less than $7.

Pretty surprised by this tbh. Would have thought the $3 ones would dominate the list.

To be fair, the Cards and Vikes should have been priced at $4. Both were top 12 last year.

Continuing on with last year's D's...
NE ($6) - scored 105 points and finished D6. There were 230 duos you could've had for $6 or less. Of those, 50 scored less than NE.
The other 180 duos outscored the Patriots = 78.3%. NE was on 6.6% of all teams, with a higher percentage than 19 other teams.
Also, 132 of the 230 duos costs less than $6.

LAR ($6) - scored 90 points and finished D13. There were 230 duos you could've had for $6 or less. Of those, 10 scored less than LAR.
The other 220 duos outscored the Rams = 95.7%. LAR was on 8.4% of all teams, with a higher percentage than 23 other teams.
Also, 132 of the 230 duos costs less than $6.

This year, there are 2 D's that are $7. There were 12 D's for $3 and 7 D's for $4. That means there were 84 possible $7 duos and 66 possible $6 duos. Of those 150, do you think the Bills or the Cowboys, even if one of them finished D1, would outscore more than 75 of the 150 possible combos?

Oh I know  - Titans a clear overlay too. Cannot remember the last time I settled ony defenses so quickly (once I changed from having Bengals D to going with Money Mac at kicker). Seemed clear cut to me.

The Allen Robinson “not showing up” last night worries me! I have him on my team but also drafted him on a number of my redraft teams as I thought he would show out with a new team…
so fingers crossed he does not continue to suck that bad for the season!

HE didn't suck. Stafford targeted him TWICE out of 41 attempts!

True that…so hopefully Stafjord targets him more going forward

Playing with the Contest Analyzer too. Some fun teams:
Most spent on QB - $228
Least spent on QB - $5
Most spent on RB - $155
Least spent on RB - $6
Most spent on WR - $187
Least spent on WR - $7
Most spent on TE - $100
Least spent on TE - $3
Most spent on K - $115
Least spent on K - $3
Most spent on D - $56
Least spent on D - $3

Based on commonality of the 27 staff entries, here is the "perfect" team (with no consideration for bye week conflicts):

QB - Cousins ($14), Ryan ($10), Goff ($9)
Ryan was on 9 rosters, Cousins on 8, and Goff on 5 (tied with Carr, Lawrence, and Pickett), but went with Goff because the average spent was $33 on 3 QB's.

RB - Dillon ($20), Mitchell ($18), Stevenson ($15), Edmonds ($14), Pierce ($10), Wilson ($3)
Pierce led the way on 19 rosters, Wilson on 12, Stevenson and Edmonds on 7, and Dillon and Mitchell on 6 (tied with Hines and Rachaad White), but the money worked out perfectly with Dillon & Mitchell. The average was $80 on 6 RB's.

WR - Sutton ($19), Smith-Schuster ($15), Lazard ($12), Collins ($10), McKenzie ($6), Palmer ($6), Pickens ($6)
I had to adjust here a tad, so the numbers would work out. Pickens was on 12 rosters, Smith-Schuster on 10, Lazard on 8, Sutton on 7, McKenzie and Palmer on 6, and Collins on 4. The average team had 7 WR's for $74, so here are some common guys that I had to leave off: Renfrow and Watins (6), Allen Robinson, Toney, and Doubs (5), and Pittman, St. Brown, Thielen, Kirk, Hopkins, Elijah Moore, and Chark (4).

TE - Pitts ($24), Njoku ($9), Okwuegbunam ($9)
This section was very easy. Pitts was on 10, followed by Okwuegbunam (7) and Njoku (6). No other TE was higher than 4, and this trio matched the average (3 for $42).

K - Boswell ($4), Blankenship ($3), Fairbairn ($3)
Average was 3 for $10. Blankenship was on 18, with Boswell and Fairbairn tied for a distant 2nd (6).

D - BAL ($4), SF ($4), ARI ($3)
Average was 3 for $11. ARI was on 8, SF on 7, and BAL on 6. MIN was also on 6, but chose BAL to match the price average.

So there you have it. The perfect roster has 3 QB's, 6 RB's, 7 WR's, 3 TE's, 3 K's, and 3 D's.
